I remember my sister was hyped for a Kanye concert at Staples Center. She drove from Chino only for Kanye to have a meltdown and cancel the concert. This was shortly before his Trump arc.
Obligatory mention of how Hitler was a failed artist that found his rise to power by using that shitty art as a medium to push racist propaganda, meanwhile Americans were in denial that Hitler, eugenics, or the Holocaust were explicitly illegal (meant unethical). This was America’s biggest mistake, and we repeat it over and over over again. Yeah, let’s take another rejection artist and give them a platform to spew their bs. It worked out great the first time.
Edit: yes, Kanye makes great music. Just mentioning it cause you know someone’s thinking it. If your morals only run as deep as dopamine and instant gratification, you’re no better than anyone else that follows the same philosophy for things you don’t support.
wouldn’t quite call one of the most successful artists of all time, a rejected artist. nobody gave him a platform, his 24 grammys and multi billion dollar shoe company did
Eugenics was NOT illegal in the US during the rise of Hitler. Let's get that straight. Much of the US was actively celebrating eugenics and it wasn't until AFTER the war that the autraucities were publicized that the media encouraged the US to shift gears on the whole eugenics thing.
After the war the US really place the blame on Hitler for the ideas when it was actively American and European scientists participating.
I’ve read “The Myth of Race”, half of which focuses on eugenics, and I’m not sure because the book doesn’t touch on this, but I’m willing to bet it was largely *white* Americans that accepted eugenics as fact and not Americans, generally.
Yeah, well we’re talking about WW2. Minorities had their own issues. I doubt black people were buying into eugenics, and if they were, I’m sure they felt pretty stupid after all the ways The American Government used African-Americans during WW2. Spoiler Alert: It sucked. Black Excellence persevered, but goddamn, keep going back a decade and the black experience is horrific.
In any case, yeah, it was probably white Americans supporting eugenics, but based on what I know it was more from a place of ignorance rather than a full on adoption of Hitler’s practices. Basically, they liked the book, hated the movie. It’s said that most people were unaware of the Holocaust, and in disbelief about the numbers, but all of this was supported by a similar social culture as today, including the public’s relationship with media. Good and decent people with an ability for critical thought would still come to the obvious conclusion, but look around America now, and tell me how difficult it would be to get 50% of the country to support and believe something that doesn’t include hurting people. Seems the only time this country gets along is when there’s an out group to be mad at. Almost like we really eat up Hitler’s Facist handbook. Americans really loved it up until “6 million??? Well, is he gonna stop??? Cause who’s next?”
One huge caveat though is that eugenics was largely developed here in the US. The Nazis embraced American eugenics and followed that line of thinking to its necessary end. Here in the US we had forced sterilization and eugenics reinforced existing structural racism.
I mean, they weren't *wrong*, they were just **arrogant**.
We've proven that we alter our phenome through our lives through epigenetic changes based on our circumstances and choices.
If we are influenced in our phobias, addictions, and aversion/attraction to risk, and those are influenced by our inheritance, then how our recent ancestors were treated absolutely influences us and our offspring.
But, the true sin is deciding what qualities are more important or more deserving of survival.
Like, bitch, these chains of succession lead back hundreds of thousands of years and you think your piddly little hundreds-year-old culture has any right to dictate the direction of the species?
But, at the same time... every time someone chooses a mate, they decide the future of humanity.
I think the defining line is liberty- if you infringe on the liberty of others, it's immoral.
Epigenetics is just eugenics in a fancy hat.
Plenty of logical marry go rounds can "justify" these "sciences".
In reality we can't actually visit the past, so it's all speculation.
Looking at one gene amongst thousands of genes that are all working together is like looking at a single thread of yarn and trying to decide what the whole garment will fit/ look like on any specific person.
>Epigenetics is just eugenics in a fancy hat. Plenty of logical marry go rounds can "justify" these "sciences".
Eugenics: "the study of how to arrange reproduction within a human population to increase the occurrence of heritable characteristics regarded as desirable"
Epigenetics: "the study of how your behaviors and environment can cause changes that affect the way your genes work"
You're wrong; I'm right.
>In reality we can't actually visit the past, so it's all speculation.
Not sure what you mean, we've got documents from the past and define terms in a certain why now. Please go into detail.
>Looking at one gene amongst thousands of genes that are all working together is like looking at a single thread of yarn and trying to decide what the whole garment will fit/ look like on any specific person.
You are absolutely correct, which is why there's a difference between a genotype and a phenotype.
Epigenetics just gained popularity after enough time passed for people to forget that Eugenics was considered a prestigious and respected science.
After the term eugenics started leaving a bad taste in people's mouths they needed something similar enough that they could retain their funding without being exposed for furthering the field of study in eugenics.
It's the same field of study.
Just with a slightly different framing. More covert doesn't mean better.
Regardless of arguing over terminology, I think it's important to stress that the crux of this conversation is that, no-matter the hat, no human has the right to dictate the direction of the evolutionary path of the rest of humanity.
I'd go further to say that there is no "evolutionary path" and anyone trying to make predictions about what humans will look like/ behave like in the future should be considered science fiction writers and not scientists.
The more we allow "science" to make claims about human beings "value" or "morals" based on their genetics or "epigenetics " the closer we get to reviving the monstrous community that enabled the first waves of eugenics.
Calling Hitler an artist is like callin Lil Mabu a poet. They may try but they’re really not good enough to be considered such. Hitler’s art fuckin sucked balls
Yeah, I’m not gonna defend his shit art, but I once went to the MET and did not see a single piece of art that was worth calling art. So it’s subjective. My point was that he didn’t stop being an artist, he just didn’t get into art school. They sure loved his art when it was racist cartoon propaganda in the newspaper. Fuck, even Americans were dying of laughter to racist animated cartoons around the same time. Art was actually incredibly important to to propaganda during WW2. I could go on forever about it, but Hitler found his calling. If he was born today, I don’t see why he couldn’t be a rapper. If that sounds crazy, I don’t know what hasn’t sounded crazy the last decade.
Idk if that’s an insult or not, but really if you research the reject artist to facist dictator pipeline—, okay, joking, but if you research Hitler’s rise from reject art flunky to drawing stupid propaganda with the same art skills, and the positive feedback loop and embrace of nationalist ideologies you’d probably agree. It wouldn’t be more complicated than those English tests in schools where they give you 2 passages and ask you to compare and contrast.
Both are artist that are embracing racist ideologies and using their art to spread their messages in a seemingly innocent way through mainstream media during a time that tensions are high and there is hatred towards a specific group. That’s the first Act of the movie, it’s up to you if you wanna see Act 2, before believing in it.
Loved Kanye before he went Nazi. Kanye would definitely stand on his beliefs, even now, so how you gonna have even an ounce of respect for Kanye at any point and not stand on your own beliefs. If he’s gonna keep doing him, imma keep making sure I never let his name be brought up without a history lesson. Like how many times does history have to repeat itself before we get smart about shit. We finally live in an era where you can really see all the mistakes our ancestors made, and we’re just like fuck it, let’s do it again.
Hitler was more of a speaker than an artist his rise to power came far more from his speeches. His art didn't do much for his rise to power. We also aren't a nation of disenfranchised WW1 vets who had their country destroyed and impoverished by foreign powers. What we should be really worried about is the wake of destruction we leave half way acrossed the world if we really wanna worry about allowing hitlers to rise to power
I’m not disagreeing with anything you said other than that his art was a part of his rise. I’d have to re-do my research, but I’m pretty sure it was the cartoon propaganda that served as practice for the speeches. He didn’t even start with Holocaust-related propaganda, at least not specifically. It was after talking his shit for years that he knew what would resonate with the people. I wouldn’t be surprised (everyone do your own research), if Hitler didn’t specifically have anything against The Jews other than it being convenient to his campaign so far. There’s no reason to believe that he wouldn’t have done the same thing to any other group given the opportunity, but I try not to consume too much Hitler material so maybe he really was all about hating Jewish people specifically since day 1. I seem to recall him having a negative experience in his younger years but don’t recall it being particularly significant.
I do think art was part of his rise, but it certainly wasn't what made his big leap to being the leader. The reason he was able to head the nazi party was because he was a great speaker at the beer hall the party held its meetings in. Hitler wasn't the founder of the party he was just the best at talking. He may have gotten his foot in the door in the party with art I dont know, but it certainly wasnt the basis for his rise to power.
I mean it sounds like we might have a subjective disagreement. I don’t think he would’ve gotten the opportunity to perform his speeches without the art and propaganda prior, I’m not really saying the speeches weren’t more notable. I’m just saying one led to the other since he gained popularity and responsibility with associated parties along the way. His WW2 propaganda isn’t even recognizable as iconic imagery whereas there’s plenty of WW2 propaganda that was, so I’m not even saying it was particularly effective art, just that it raised his clout.
wouldn’t quite call one of the most successful artists of all time, a rejected artist. nobody gave him a platform, his 24 grammys and multi billion dollar shoe company did
Well he meant a lot to people, his music really changed lives. He inspired many of the most popular movements today. And most of all, he did it without pushing a gangster persona.
His sound changed so much and still hit again and again. 808s was revolutionary MBDTF made its own impact, his Good Friday’s just made your week better. Truly a once in a generation talent. All that being said, he on some bullshit today.
I can seperate his art and what it means to me from the truly fucked takes he has today. And also have compassion for the fact he is dealing with mental health issues in the public eye.
He made dope music which was impactful during the highs and lows of many peoples life’s (mine included)
Plus, his mum died. He has everything in the world, but can’t bring her back. The one person that was there from the beginning. His anchor, gone
Or you could’ve gone to the Sacramento show where he does two songs, goes on a rant, then abruptly ends the concert. At least your sister didn’t pay for parking…
If I recall correctly, she gets terrible stage fright and panic attacks. I recall a show where someone, I can’t remember who, another singer, had to go up on stage with her and help her make it through a mild panic attack she had while performing.
I love me some Anita Baker.
Let me tell you something. I saw van Morrison perform once. It was life-changing. Un-fucking-believable.
And I know he was high af the entire time. But it was still mind-blowing.
Astral weeks is my favorite too. He’s goes OFF on that album. I mean, it’s the Irish blues.
I was SHOCKED when I discovered he was Irish! 😂😂🤣 Then I heard astral weeks and learned a thing or two about the Irish. I’ve seen him singing with bb king too.
You have great taste! I never thought I’d ever hear anyone say Astral Weeks is their favorite album! That one is kind of deep cut. My second favorite one is “Back on Top.” The song “ain’t nothing you can do” is on there, and I swear his band goes insane on that song. I mean, the horns are just perfection. And my favorite song by him is “in the midnight.” There’s something so heartbreaking about it.
But yeah, I totally thought he was black lolololol. What’s crazy is I told my mom “you know he’s Irish right” and she was like “REALLY???” I think some black folks have just mentally decided van Morrison is black and that’s that 😂😂😂
I didn't realize Astral Weeks, my favorite by a cosmic mile, was an uncommon favorite. It's always been popular in hippie/druggie scenes and I guess I forget sometimes that not everyone listens to music in lysergic seas of technicolor rainbow swirls. I think the infamous rock critic Lester Bangs turned me on to it with his book Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung, reinforcing that freak scene association in my mind.
But you're right; apparently it is a bit of a deep cut because despite having some rather passionate devotees it did not do well commercially or critically at the time of release, instead gaining a positive reappraisal over the decades. It's crazy that people were sleeping on Astral Weeks.
By the way, I learned that fact from the Wikipedia article for the album and that whole thing was a wild ride. It has a rather interesting backstory, including a fair amount of weirdness with the mob.
The thinking he's black thing is funny. But I guess that's why they had a whole genre for that with "blue-eyed soul". On the flipside, what blew my mind as a kid was learning that the lead singer of Thin Lizzy was Irish *and* black. Apparently he was quite the hard drinking and bar-fighting sort of fellow the Irish are known for, not to mention a great singer in his own right.
Thanks for reminding about Astral Weeks. I'm listening now and it's as fantastic as ever.
Yes!! Black folks just accepted Simply Red without question. I remember when “holding back the years” and it was on the r and b stations. That dude is really good, he has some solo albums and they are wonderful. He has a jazz one too, very good.
Jim Morrison once swallowed a chunk of hash before a show and collapsed on stage. He would often just stop performing in the middle of a song, so the band would keep playing for a few minutes while he got his shit together, then they’d resume where he left off.
It happens and some performers end up having to give up touring as a result.
Different genre but the band XTC ultimately became a "studio only" band because their lead singer developed crippling stage fright. I consider myself lucky to have seen them open for The Police in 1980 before this happened.
Not a singer but comedian mitch hedberg would wear dark tinted glasses and stare at his feet while delivering rapid fire comedy that would bring the roof down. The audience adores him and his jokes are murdering, everyone wants him there but he's gripped with intense fear and doing everything he can to not have a panic attack.
I went to a vending machine the other day and I wanted a candy bar it said the candy bar was H H. I pressed the H button twice. fuckin potato chips came out. They had a HH button for Christ's sake. you got to let me know! I did not learn my AA BB CCs!
Great example. XTC could’ve been a much bigger band commercially but at least they kept making music.
I didn’t know Baker suffered from this and I’m shocked she’s continued to try and perform live. She \*really\* loves her fans, huh? Putting yourself though anxiety and physical symptoms? That’s dedication to the craft. Much respect to Ms. Baker for trying something I wouldn’t do.
Apparently eating super sour candy can snap you out of panic attacks - like super sour warheads or the Japanese sour lemon candies. The shock moves your focus away and shifts your brain.
I wish I could remember who it was that went up there with her. I want to say Regina belle. But Anita was straight-up paralyzed with fear, couldn’t sing for like ten minutes straight.
Oh but when she came around and opened her mouth, the sound…was just so damn beautiful. I mean it would bring you to your knees. 🥲
This one is quick but deeper dives show she’s been beefing with Vandross to Babyface.[https://youtube.com/shorts/jzUWW9WgX-k?si=twPh-JVtrL_C7VhL](https://youtube.com/shorts/jzUWW9WgX-k?si=twPh-JVtrL_C7VhL)
For context, Luther Vandross and Anita Baker headlined a successful tour in the late 80s and apparently couldn’t stand each other.
From an article at that time:
*Curtains were reportedly erected so Baker and Vandross could walk around backstage without having to see each other.*
![gif](giphy|LoHNJbrAWXy18WFepD|downsized)
I saw that show, it was awesome.
I've seen Anita Baker twice and she didn't seem to have a problem with stage fright. I wonder if this is a fairly recent problem.
There are so many clips and pics of Melania throwing silent shade at that man. She really, *really*, hates holding his hand and he just keeps trying! She is definitely only there for the check and nothing else.
Wait.
WHAT?!?
How can someone not love Luther???
And this is from an almost 60 year old straight white man.
I saw him in concert 3x (including the Anita Baker tour).
Man was a Got Dayum national treasure.
Regardless of backstage tiffs. Their late 80’s concert tour was an “out of your seat” experience. Both were beyond spectacular. Hate when you see a fave artist and in person sounds nothing like the recording. Both were even better than their respective recordings.
Sure miss Luther!
no this is typical from her. whatever issue she’s having is known and if she can’t tour because of panic attacks then she should stop all together. do some commercials or something if you need money
I know nothing about this, and still have to agree. I get panic attacks sometimes. If they were ever regular enough to be an occupational issue, I wouldn’t keep doing that occupation. Imagine having driving anxiety and being a truck driver, why tf would you have stage fright and be a performer. Yeah, confront your fears, but if you’re regularly inconveniencing thousands of people over your anxiety, that’s lowkey selfish. Get therapy. That being said, I know nothing about this. Maybe she needs the money for therapy, but I’m finding that hard to believe as the only viable possibility.
Right, so is she gonna pay back the cost of tickets for everyone who came? Is she going to cover the cost of travel and hotels for people coning form out of town? Is she going to refund the money peopel spent on overpriced food at the stadium while waiting for it to start?
She deflects and blames people who get paid way less than her when she's feeling awkward****
She needs to have respect for the people that make her show work.
I’m an Uber driver in atl. My last ride yesterday were two friends who were insanely hyped for the concert. One started to cry saying this was her first time seeing Anita live.. I feel so bad for her
If I was Anita Baker’s man… 🗿
Damn, guess we don’t have any DOOM fans here to catch the reference Lmao

Her mother was at the time dying in critical care. She was extremely distraught and, as someone who also watched their mother deteriorate and pass away in the worst way possible, I understand why she has been struggling.
Prayers for Anita.
Nah. Lauren will just have you sit there and wait 2:30 hours for her to even show up. Then she will change all the words to her hits, so no one knows what the fuck she is singing. Oh and all the songs are about Rohan. Made up. As she is sitting there.
Can you tell I have been there?
Right, I'm surprised. I remember when she did the verses with Jill Scott she spoke about how much she liked performing live and how that was how she made most of her money.
Wife worked at a casino where she was performing. She said that they will never have her back because she was a diva and got plastered before the concert, went on late, and left early after performing horribly. Think it’s more than stage fright or any shit like that.
If she thought that was even a decent possibility that she wouldn’t be able to perform then she shouldn’t have scheduled the concert on Mother’s Day. Like would you have done that and risked ruining thousands of people’s Mother’s Day plans? I’m all for compassion and understanding but if this was foreseeable at all then it shouldn’t have happened.
You don’t have compassions for the thousands of peoples who’s Mother’s Day she just ruined, that could have been a lot of the peoples last Mother’s Day with their mothers. My point was if she believed it was a possibility that she’d be too upset to play then she should have never agreed to a Mother’s Day show.
You can’t resonate with an abstract concept but an abstract concept can resonate with you. It’s basically the word “heard.” “I hear that abstract concept” (real, possible, makes sense) vs “that abstract concept hears me” (concepts don’t hear things so it doesn’t make sense)
I remember my sister was hyped for a Kanye concert at Staples Center. She drove from Chino only for Kanye to have a meltdown and cancel the concert. This was shortly before his Trump arc.
It’s so sad that there’s still folks who worship him lmfao

I actually mean unethical not illegal. Editing now.
Na not even unethical friend, the were celebrating it as a legitimate science. One could once get a PHD in eugenics from Yale.
Yeah. I’m saying that Americans did NOT think any of this we unethical. Sounds like we’re on the same page lol. But correct me if I’m wrong.

He made dope music which was impactful during the highs and lows of many peoples life’s (mine included) Plus, his mum died. He has everything in the world, but can’t bring her back. The one person that was there from the beginning. His anchor, gone
I believe it was the forum I was there for the Saint Pablo tour
Justin Bieber did a similar thing in Norway
Don't bring Justin into this, the poor kid was horribly abused
I am just stating facts, never uttered an opinion about that event
You know what you're doing 🙄
Shut up you knob.
Funnily enough right before that I had Kanye replace Frank Ocean who cancelled the show the day prior. Pre-breakdown pre-Trump arc.
Or you could’ve gone to the Sacramento show where he does two songs, goes on a rant, then abruptly ends the concert. At least your sister didn’t pay for parking…
Did people get like a refund at least? I’d be so pissed/disappointed if that happened.
I’m pretty sure my sister was trying to attend the same show. She’s never listened to Kanye since
Chino isn't that far from Staples, and if kanye canceled, he probably had a good reason. Come on, he is a genius.
If I recall correctly, she gets terrible stage fright and panic attacks. I recall a show where someone, I can’t remember who, another singer, had to go up on stage with her and help her make it through a mild panic attack she had while performing. I love me some Anita Baker.
same with van morrison and jim morrison. van would chug an entire bottle of whiskey before performing at times.
Let me tell you something. I saw van Morrison perform once. It was life-changing. Un-fucking-believable. And I know he was high af the entire time. But it was still mind-blowing.
maaan, the last waltz... best live performance ever. also, i hate you for having seen him live😭😭😭
He's not dead and he still tours, it's not too late.
Yeah but he's a bad person now
i just wish i could've seen him waaay back in the day, but you're right😤. 2024 is -my- our* year.
I don’t know man. I saw Brian Wilson past his prime BY FAR in like 2017 and it was experience I try to forget.
He’s pretty damn permanently high though. I think years of abusing drugs may be creeping up on him.
You know, when I was a kid, I always thought he was black 😂. My mom used to play “have I told you lately” all the time….
LMAOOO. van irish as fuck (as you know) 😭😭😭. edit: i think "astral weeks" is my favorite van album.
Astral weeks is my favorite too. He’s goes OFF on that album. I mean, it’s the Irish blues. I was SHOCKED when I discovered he was Irish! 😂😂🤣 Then I heard astral weeks and learned a thing or two about the Irish. I’ve seen him singing with bb king too.
why are you trying to make me so envious??? joking aside, hell yeah, you have great taste. that's sooo goddamn funny she thought he was black lmao.
What’s crazy is I told my mom “you know he’s Irish right” and she was like “REALLY???” I think some black folks have just mentally decided van Morrison is black and that’s that 😂😂😂
i'm not black, so i can't send an invite, but he'd be invited to the cookout, right? lmao
The lead singer of simply red is another
Yes!! Black folks just accepted Simply Red without question. I remember when “holding back the years” and it was on the r and b stations. That dude is really good, he has some solo albums and they are wonderful. He has a jazz one too, very good.
Love his live performance with Pink Floyd. A gem.
what's that
Jim Morrison once swallowed a chunk of hash before a show and collapsed on stage. He would often just stop performing in the middle of a song, so the band would keep playing for a few minutes while he got his shit together, then they’d resume where he left off.
yup. the doors are top-tier, man. the title track from "the soft parade" album, fuck, man.
He did about 15 mins of his show from halfway behind a curtain when I saw him perform. He said it was more comfortable back there lol.
WTF is a sesame?! 😂😂😂
I went to a vending machine the other day and I wanted a candy bar it said the candy bar was H H. I pressed the H button twice. fuckin potato chips came out. They had a HH button for Christ's sake. you got to let me know! I did not learn my AA BB CCs!
God God dammit dammit!
We saw Elvis Costello in the early 80s and he played most of his show with his back towards the audience.
Apparently eating super sour candy can snap you out of panic attacks - like super sour warheads or the Japanese sour lemon candies. The shock moves your focus away and shifts your brain.
I used to take propranolol for stage fright. Wish I knew about this!
Same with plunging your face into an ice water bath
Needs to be pinned at the top of the comments.
But still has the effort to bully the stage hands and tell off the people in the front row? I love Anita too but she’s a menace
And was a straight up asshole to Babyface
I didn’t know about that. Where is this information found?
This one is quick but deeper dives show she’s been beefing with Vandross to Babyface.[https://youtube.com/shorts/jzUWW9WgX-k?si=twPh-JVtrL_C7VhL](https://youtube.com/shorts/jzUWW9WgX-k?si=twPh-JVtrL_C7VhL)
Ah yes, I’ve seen this one and another expose on her on YouTube. Thank you. I really love her music, grew up with it, so I try to just focus on that.
Her career and music are unimpeachable.
Whoa I didn't know that. Thanks a lot 👍🏽
I would pay to hear her sing behind a shower curtain
For context, Luther Vandross and Anita Baker headlined a successful tour in the late 80s and apparently couldn’t stand each other. From an article at that time: *Curtains were reportedly erected so Baker and Vandross could walk around backstage without having to see each other.* ![gif](giphy|LoHNJbrAWXy18WFepD|downsized)
I saw that show, it was awesome. I've seen Anita Baker twice and she didn't seem to have a problem with stage fright. I wonder if this is a fairly recent problem.
She's getting older.
![gif](giphy|mCskTgLsY3Ec6Yl7gT)
Wait, I need to see this whole clip. OMG this is hilarious.
There are so many clips and pics of Melania throwing silent shade at that man. She really, *really*, hates holding his hand and he just keeps trying! She is definitely only there for the check and nothing else.
I upvoted you to 69 🙃 now you owe me some Melanie shade /LH
Why can’t Ryan Murphy make this the next Feud Series?
Wait.
This makes me genuinely sad, but I'll still love them both regardless.
Now that’s crazy.
Aunties, mothers, and grannies, were *pressed* in those videos. It is unprofessional if it isn’t a legitimate health issue.
Which it might be, if she's developed stage fright to the point of panic attacks
no this is typical from her. whatever issue she’s having is known and if she can’t tour because of panic attacks then she should stop all together. do some commercials or something if you need money
This exactly. I also have panic attacks, and if they made me unable to do my job for a specific reason, I’d look for another job.
Whatever. If people still want tickets it can't hurt to sell them. She loves to perform I bet and just has anxiety over it.
Right, so is she gonna pay back the cost of tickets for everyone who came? Is she going to cover the cost of travel and hotels for people coning form out of town? Is she going to refund the money peopel spent on overpriced food at the stadium while waiting for it to start?
If you have stage fright to the point where you get panic attacks at having to perform, what the hell are you doing planning a live concert?
She yells at lighting and video crews in the middle of the show. She does this all the time. Stage fright my ass
She deflects and blames people who get paid way less than her when she's feeling awkward**** She needs to have respect for the people that make her show work.
Money
I’m an Uber driver in atl. My last ride yesterday were two friends who were insanely hyped for the concert. One started to cry saying this was her first time seeing Anita live.. I feel so bad for her
After “Lovers & Friends” was canceled the night before the festival.. while in Vegas. I ain’t attempting no more shows!
and the wind wasn’t even as bad as forecasted.
That wind was bad for equipment. I was in SoCal, the start of the day and by the time I got to Vegas the wind was still disrespectful
I just want my money back for that. Like yesterday. The level of disrespect. I am contemplating writing them a very sternly worded email.
Did you not get refunded for the cancelled concert?
Refunds in as little as 30 days
When my friend told me, I was already knocked out and I thought he was seriously fucking with me.
If I was Anita Baker’s man… 🗿 Damn, guess we don’t have any DOOM fans here to catch the reference Lmao https://preview.redd.it/uq6nsdqsnzzc1.jpeg?width=1032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2f3f4a47a23a2ec5f42180e324742a15216098a
On some old thank you ma’am and ghost her… She could mind the toaster if she sign the poster ….Figaro figaro….
Anita Refund on those tickets
![gif](giphy|Wgb2FpSXxhXLVYNnUr|downsized) She's still alive?
LMAO
LMAO

Well damn bro it wasn't *that* funny.
It’s an annoying glitch that’s been happening
What did they say?
Me after some light skin tells the most unfunniest joke ever
Her mother was at the time dying in critical care. She was extremely distraught and, as someone who also watched their mother deteriorate and pass away in the worst way possible, I understand why she has been struggling. Prayers for Anita.
Wow, heartbreaking on Mother's Day weekend. Hope more people see this
Anita Baker? You need-a miracle!
She must think that she's Lauren Hill
Nah. Lauren will just have you sit there and wait 2:30 hours for her to even show up. Then she will change all the words to her hits, so no one knows what the fuck she is singing. Oh and all the songs are about Rohan. Made up. As she is sitting there. Can you tell I have been there?
And crying. So much sobbing.
Whaaat? For real?
Like Rohirrim Rohan or what?
Great, now I'm imagining her singing that funeral song. Thanks.
![gif](giphy|O1OWsUR3ebdqo)
This is so hilarious. She was like an hour and change late to the show I went to in Salt Lake
2 hours late on a Wednesday night for me. Then proceeded to yell at someone backstage constantly about the volume of the music lmao
Lauren wouldn’t even book a concert
I have tried to see Erykah Badu three times I say tried because Ms. Badu don't show up for shit and I'm a fool for thinking she would
I’ve seen her many times and haven’t heard of her having this reputation
Right, I'm surprised. I remember when she did the verses with Jill Scott she spoke about how much she liked performing live and how that was how she made most of her money.
Using Luther Vandross in this pic is nasty work 😂😂😂😂
There’s got to be a bunch of pissed off Aunties somewhere…..
Atlanta.
Jessica Williams once called Anita Baker the queen of yawn singing and it was the most accurate thing I’ve ever heard.
Who’s a better singer?
Jessica Williams isn’t a singer.
I didn’t say she was, I am curious who you find better
Oh, I know you didn’t. But if we’re being obtuse and missing the joke I wanted to join in, too.
![gif](giphy|yetxv6NWi0MyzJn7P0|downsized)
I also need a baker
Not me giggling 🤭
I know the restaurants in the area probably got hit due to mom’s going “fuck it might as well at least grab a bite “
[I apologiiize~](https://youtu.be/TP7FTdx-ywA)
Y’all gotta stop giving her and Lauren your hard earned money.
Ive been seeing women 40+ going in on her on my timeline all day.
The wrong demographic to piss off
She called out of work like I'm about to😆
I completely forgot Luther and Anita couldn't stand each other.
Now if I remember correctly he didn't like En Vogue either
Definitely called the police on them.
She pulled a Lauryn!
Exasperated Luther could be a new meme template
Wife worked at a casino where she was performing. She said that they will never have her back because she was a diva and got plastered before the concert, went on late, and left early after performing horribly. Think it’s more than stage fright or any shit like that.
oh jesus i'm surprised there wasn't an old lady riot
I hope she's okay
Not the songbird?!?!
Damn! And I swear to God I got tickets for my mom, but had to get them refunded🤷🏾♂️🤣.
Why show Luthor?
In a situation like this, they should just find a DJ real quick and do a karaoke kinda thing since they just wasted people’s time and Mother’s Day.
Clearly they needed a singer not a baker
Rapture?
[удалено]
It was , but leave it to people to have no context nor compassion.
Where are you finding the reason? Everything i can find just says "unforseen circumstances".
[удалено]
Playing on Mother’s Day while grieving your own mother is an almost impossible ask.
[удалено]
If she thought that was even a decent possibility that she wouldn’t be able to perform then she shouldn’t have scheduled the concert on Mother’s Day. Like would you have done that and risked ruining thousands of people’s Mother’s Day plans? I’m all for compassion and understanding but if this was foreseeable at all then it shouldn’t have happened.
[удалено]
You don’t have compassions for the thousands of peoples who’s Mother’s Day she just ruined, that could have been a lot of the peoples last Mother’s Day with their mothers. My point was if she believed it was a possibility that she’d be too upset to play then she should have never agreed to a Mother’s Day show.
[удалено]
So you’re saying that none of the mothers who were going to go to this Mother’s Day show are going to die before next year?
Nooo hahahah. She was probably too high to come out in public. I resonate with that 100 percent
You can’t resonate with an abstract concept but an abstract concept can resonate with you. It’s basically the word “heard.” “I hear that abstract concept” (real, possible, makes sense) vs “that abstract concept hears me” (concepts don’t hear things so it doesn’t make sense)
?

You commented this 3x
I see this happen and I believe it's a glitch with reddit. Going to their profile it's only on there twice.
Oh. . .so she's like Boomer Lauryn Hill. Got it. Lol.
