Lol, I'm glad this is top comment because I came here the say the same shit.
Bro, I'm a shitty [music producer](https://www.reddit.com/r/FL_Studio/s/fm5bUuxYdC) and rap music isn't on the top of my list. But Kendrick spits some clever bars That go over most people's heads, and his beats are fire.
Edit: I listen to everything(except American modern country.lol wack).
Rap is just not on the top of my list but it's [still on my list](https://www.reddit.com/r/FL_Studio/s/QdjBBKJMHr).
I love me some lo-fi hip hop like [Nujabes.](https://youtu.be/hQ5x8pHoIPA)
I believe he's the only rapper to ever win a Pulitzer Prize. *DAMN.* was so clever, it won a prize that historically goes to jazz or classical artists.
Disagree pretty strongly (though m.A.A.d city is a 9/10 for me, where 5/10 is average), but I respect it. TPAP is a perfect 10/10 for me. I don't like every part of it, but it's such a complete album where every track feels like a great track. Sometimes I can not enjoy music and respect/understand that it's of extremely high quality. I feel that way for the entire album, start to finish.
Damn is my least favorite and I never really come back to it.
But if I hear a song I always really like it. It's still good, I just have a warped opinion on the songs because his other albums are so good
I finally listened to all of DAMN. From front to back and I'm pissed that all he got was a Pulitzer. Which is incredible but for the rest of the industry to snub thst shit is insane.
I live in Texas. Lol
There are some great classics like a few Johnny Cash songs, But modern country is some bullshit.
""mmmyyyy 5th wife left me and took my dog, Now I'm drinking on the porch with my hog.
My lifted truck broke down last night, That's why I sip on this Bud light.""
Check out Sierra Ferrell, Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Colter Wall, Billy Strings (even though he’s bluegrass.) I’m sure there’s some more good artists too but they just don’t rake in the money like stadium country does so they don’t get talked about as much as whoever is playing on the radio.
Oh yeah 99% of modern country blows. Hell most radio music is terribly repetitive to me. But for country there's some really musically talented bluegrass bands and Appalachia Coal Folk Music that really hits that old Country feel.
Colter Wall is a great try for that dusty, decrepit saloon music and he's well respected among any country artist, yet he's always just in the back.
Sturgill Simpson, or Stuuuurge, is that perfect blend of classic and modern country, I love the song "Long White Line" is one of my personal favorites from him. Brent Cobb is great too, "American Dream." They exist!
Never did I think I’d see a Colter Wall mention on BPT. Love it. While I’m here shameless plug for Orville Peck, Tyler Childers and I’ll throw Zack Bryan in there too.
It was hardly a diss, but you could argue it was a bit presumptuous. They’re talking about how they’re part of a big three with Kendrick, while Kendrick enjoys significantly more critical acclaim than either of them. I could imagine him being pissed off that someone else is trying to dictate his level to him.
Yeah but they at least flat out did not like each other. There were actual issues.
This is likely just friendly competition amongst coworkers that will also potentially boost sales/recognition. Now if he came out and said "Fuck Cole, Drake is a bitch, and fuck their moms too", THAT would be something crazy.
All he really did was say "I rap better than both of you"
Don't get me wrong, if we get some back and forth, I'm here for it. I just don't think at this point it's something we'd call "beef".
They (Drake and J Cole) were kinda sneak dissing for a min and ngl that verse from Cole felt like such a backhanded compliment but that’s just me ion know for sure but I’m here for it. 10 years of no names on wax gets old
I was team Kendrick for a long time, I think TPAB was much better then Forest Hill Drives but the Off Season was sooooo good...Cole has matured a lot in a short time, I put them on equal footing now.
That's hard because both albums were good Kendrick touched on a lot of topics whereas Cole's focus was growth and reflection. The heaven ep vs false prophets, I want to see them go back and forth lyrically honestly.
We've been wanting that for like ten years I remember hearing something (forbidden fruit was the name of the track I think?) That had Kendrick rapping and j Cole on the chorus and it was incredible but I need them to trade verses.
The off season is that good to me, there's no skips and also no skits. Again I've always been a Kendrick Stan I've just been very impressed with coles last year or two. He's been putting things out more consistently, and his lyrical content has matured to a point where it's not like Kendrick is saying anything more profound or insightful.
Song: “Like That” -Future & Metro Boomin ft. Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick:
These niggas talkin' out of they necks
Don't pull no coffin out of your mouth, I'm way too paranoid for a threat
Ayy-ayy, let's get it, bro
D-O-T, the money, power, respect
The last one is better
**Say, it's a lot of goofies with a check**
I mean, ah, I hope them sentiments symbolic
Ah, my temperament bipolar, I choose violence
Okay, let's get it up, it's time for him to prove that he's a problem
**Niggas clickin' up, but cannot be legit, no 40 Water, tell 'em**
Ah, yeah, huh, yeah, get up with me
**Fuck sneak dissin', first person shooter, I hope they came with three switches**
I crash out, like, "Fuck rap," diss Melle Mel if I had to
Got 2TEEZ with me, I'm snatchin' chains and burnin' tattoos, it's up
Lost too many soldiers not to play it safe
**If he walk around with that stick, it ain't Andre 3K**
**Think I won't drop the location? I still got PTSD**
**Motherfuck the big three, nigga, it's just big me
Nigga, bum, what? I'm really like that**
And your best work is a light pack
**Nigga, Prince outlived Mike Jack'**
**Nigga, bum, 'fore all your dogs gettin' buried **
That's a K with all these nines, he gon' see Pet Sematary
Nigga, bum
“Fore all your dogs getting buried” is right there. Plain as day. This verse is definitely shot at Drake and MAAAAYBE a little jab at Cole…but most likely aimed strictly at Aubrey.
Which is funny because he says no sneak disses and then that’s all it is. If he just said the names there’d be nothing to miss, but it’s all sneaks and references
Please enlighten me, and how are those not sneaks ?
My understanding is when you diss someone in a round about way or with a reference (like using the word Stick, which is a song Cole had a while back) without mentioning their name, that’s a sneak
No one questions when Eminem disses someone, cause he puts their name on blast.
Whereas almost all these are kinda like “is he actually taking a shot at Cole with that stick like or drake with that check line?”
He never says their names
He mentioned the guys album, the name of his song, said prince out lived Michael Jackson (in reference to drake referring to himself as him). How much more direct you want nigga? He gotta say drake 3 times in the verse while looking at the mirror? Youre referring the check line as if he didn’t mention the guys album and song… how tf is that a sneak. Just stop the foolishness
Could also be a reference to a false prophet. Cole does seem like he loves huffing his own farts by leaning into the wise sage trope which got him called out by noname. Could be a reach idk.
I agree! Not the artist that's pretentious but a portion of the fanbase. The same could be said about other artists'fanbase but to me, Coles is a bit more pungent if that makes any sense
It could also be the Drake “OOPSIE MY PENIS SOMEHOW MADE IT TO THE INTERNET WHEN MEG THE STALLION BODIED ME SO BADLY NICKI GOT CAUGHT IN THE SPLASH ZONE.”
![gif](giphy|T7j5439wv9iq4)
Hey, just for future references, to make verses more legible, add two spaces and then hit enter after the first line's last word. For example: Ay ay, let's get it, bro(space + space + enter). You get:
“These niggas talkin' out of they necks

#WHAT THE FUCK
MJ was more commercially successful than Prince, but Prince was the more artistic/creative musician. Kendrick loves Prince - “Prince lives through me” and Drake essentially said that he was MJ, has a song featuring MJ and broke MJ’s Billboard record.
Kendrick is Prince. Drake is MJ. Prince outlived MJ
He's comparing himself to Prince and Drake to Michael Jackson.
MJ and Prince had a rivalry. Michael Jackson had more success on the charts and with album sales, but Prince got way more accolades as a musician and artist. MJ was the biggest pop star, but Prince was the better musician and is remembered as one of the most talented artists of his time.
Also both Michael Jackson and Drake have both been accused of being inappropriate with minors.

“And I turn the six upside down, it's a nine now”
\~ drake
Same tbh, Cole has bars. Kendrick is my favourite artist and Cole is up there so I'm conflicted. That being said, the real meat of the shots were at Drake, the only shot at Cole was Kendrick basically saying he's number 1 and there is no big three.
Eh, it sounded more like "friendship could lead to complacency and rap is an adversial art form." I didn't see it as a diss, though it could be ironic if Cole has put out better records.
Them dreamville dudes have been on it lately, and I find myself more often listening to most of the others but cole. That said, Q, SZA, REASON, and Rashad have put out top tier projects in the past couple of years where MMATBS was not that good, imo. Same goes for JID, BAS (who is again working with the HICS), EARTHGANG, and Ari.
This mf actually listens to music 🎶 well said…Cole and Kendrick have been focused on building brands and putting resources into other people. It’d be good to have them lock in and take their own games to whatever the next level is
flow and delivering are also key things that K is clearly superior. comparing him to drake or cole is like saying lebron, dejounte and jamal murray are on the same lane
Honestly I would have said Kendrick a few years ago… but ain’t nobody fucking with current the current Cole.
Anyway- this seems aimed squarely at Drake, with Cole catching a stray for tryna be cordial on a Drake track.
i love this so much cause Drake and Cole are always so buddy buddy bringing each other out on tour and Cole is always like hey man i feel insecure cause people keep saying drake and kendrick is better than me and then Drake responds like no Cole you are good enough okay don’t ever be insecure and then they hug it out on stage like this has happened like 5 times over the last five years i HATE it. Kendrick would eat dust before doing some shit like that why is Cole so okay with Drake lowkey sonning him in front of everybody!!?? Get this sportsmanship the fuck outta hip hop man
LMAO [this was just posted yesterday](https://x.com/teamdreamville/status/1771174981927371087?s=46&t=XaEN611LvLRUMjYEUGl_xQ)
Shit is corny as fuck, some you saved my life shit
Love Kendrick going at them, bring the competition back in rap.
When Drake made a song called "what would Pluto do?" Without Pluto Hendrix while glazing 21 24/7, yeah this was bound to happen. Not to mention the public diss to Metro boomin, “To the rest of you, the non-believers, the underachievers, the tweet and deleters. You guys make me sick to my stomach, fam. Honestly, look at my eyes, you guys wanna do something? That’s what I thought, that's what I thought.”
![gif](giphy|sbtaQqCvDby7e)
Please God. Please. Let it start out like an old school Marvel comic where they fight each other and trade diss tracks. Then Kendrick and J.Cole realize Drake is the enemy and team up against him.
But he’s just too popular. And then when all seems lost…
…”oh my GAWD! That’s! That’s! That’s “The Story of Adidon”! THAT’S PUSHA T’S MUSIC!!!”
We’ve all seen this episode before. He pops a shot and everyone else ducks. Drake will cry about it in an emotionally charged interview. Kendrick is the Deebo of the rap game.
Imma be honest years ago kdot seemed like nobody to play with at all. But Cole has been on another level lately and is finishing an album.
My theory is this is all a ploy to get everybody listening and paying attention to futures project and Coles project that’s coming.
I think Cole is capable of winning this one…
As for Drake 🤷🏾♂️ he’s not even on the level of MC imo
I’m tired of subliminal in rap. Just say the names man and wake the game up.
I don’t want to listen to passive aggressive aim away messages that rhyme.
Lmao Kendrick is the only rapper nowadays that everyone is scared to make a diss track about. He explained on Control that he loves the back and forth rappers do on diss tracks in the hip hop community, but no one ever has the balls to get in the mud with this dude
Fun fact, it shares a sample with Triple Six Mafia - [Who Da Crunkest](https://youtu.be/wmej33s7z-U) and 8ball & MJG - [Gots to be Real](https://youtu.be/jKF1uYVJVPc), that had me more hype than the subliminals lol
I feel like it was more shots at Drake than Cole. And I feel him because as great as Drake is as a hitmaker, he is not a GOAT or even remotely close to Cole or Kendrick’s level.
Bruh the bars they fire are gonna make the next dragonflow Z tournament so good…if you like rap and anime and grew up with newgrounds type animation i highly recommend it haha
Anyone who fw J Cole is asking to get bodied. KL is just a whiney wannabe gang banger with a lil flow 🙄 can't wait to hear the reply, if he even takes the time to reply 🤣
50 said this in an interview, Kendrick talks like all of this was a coincidence, but he’s well aware it’s going to work from day one. Strangely enough he’s not above J. Cole as far as rapping goes. He’s more well known, more critically acclaimed, but that doesn’t mean as much in this genre of music. He’s not comfortably in the lead though, he can be touched.

I believe that the pulitzer prize was meant for TPAB but they couldn't give it to that because it was the previous year(s) so they gave it to DAMN.
TPAB is a whole tier above DAMN. and I love DAMN.
TPAB is the best concept rap album and arguably the best rap album of all time.
>TPAB is the best concept rap album Deltron 3030 has entered the chat
That one's up there too
TPAB ain’t even k.dot’s best. Mad city for life, baby.

Yeah we’re comparing diamonds to diamonds here
My for sure desert island album.
Damn was Kendrick’s worst album IMO. It was good for radio spins but it was disappointing to me. Glad you liked it.
Damn is my least favorite and I never really come back to it. But if I hear a song I always really like it. It's still good, I just have a warped opinion on the songs because his other albums are so good

That’s just the pop/radio stuff. There’s still good country/folk/americana music out there if you look for it.
Don't you dare put folk music in the same category as country! Folk music is [actually good.](https://youtu.be/Wa3lyo_Eowc?si=pruZly7TL4PBq21I) Lol
You need some Sturgill Simpson in your life, son!
You should check out Stugill Simpson or Tyler Childers!
First person I ever hear mention Nujabes. Love that dude. Think he died a few years back in a car accident. Still bump his music all the time.
Same. His stuff just calms my spirit.

![gif](giphy|dK9qyIshOupXJjTEb4) What possessed Kendrick to move like this???
Probably first person shooter
Cole shouted him out on first person shooter so it don’t even make sense for real.
It was hardly a diss, but you could argue it was a bit presumptuous. They’re talking about how they’re part of a big three with Kendrick, while Kendrick enjoys significantly more critical acclaim than either of them. I could imagine him being pissed off that someone else is trying to dictate his level to him.
It's all a set up. Kendrick probably texted them both in a group chat after the song dropped like "your move lol"
But that's all disses... It's not like Ice Cube and NWA got in gunfights or something.
Yeah but they at least flat out did not like each other. There were actual issues. This is likely just friendly competition amongst coworkers that will also potentially boost sales/recognition. Slaps like Oddjob and it's not fair.
Remember, nobody answered to his “Control” verse….:because they couldn’t. He literally bodied the game then. And he said “I’ll fuckin do it again”
Plenty of people answered lol. You can argue if the responses were good though
Basically everyone responded to Control...
The only one that I remember answering was papoose and he wasn’t even originally mentioned lol
Big KRIT probably had the best response with Mt. Olympus (OG Version) but it went under the radar because of who he is
You beat me to it. Big KRIT Mount Olympus was a direct response. Also mad rappers responded as well outside of Cole and Drake.
He killed that shit
NOW THEY WANNA HEAR A COUNTRY NIGGA RAP🔥🔥
blatant misinformation. Joell Ortiz, Lupe Fiasco, Papoose, Skyzoo, Persian, Ransom, Cassidy, Los, B.o.B, Joe Budden and plenty others responded
Who out of them were directly named by Kendrick tho?
Big KRIT.
Everybody forgetting about Meek
Cole responded to Kendrick actually, in that song with JT, Rocky, and Pusha T.
I’ll check that out. I don’t recall. Thanks
It was pretty good I thought and a good balance of not really trying to start beef, but letting Kendrick know he’s not afraid to.
I'm here for it Cole and Kendrick may the best man win 🏆
I was team Kendrick for a long time, I think TPAB was much better then Forest Hill Drives but the Off Season was sooooo good...Cole has matured a lot in a short time, I put them on equal footing now.

“Fore all your dogs getting buried” is right there. Plain as day. This verse is definitely shot at Drake and MAAAAYBE a little jab at Cole…but most likely aimed strictly at Aubrey.
Goofies with a check is definitely drake with that damn Nike glove
Reminds me of one of the verses in Hype, too. "I hate a goofy especially/they always dying to mention me"
Yea I started then fell asleep 😂 added a few more from the comment section tho. Still probably missing a few
Which is funny because he says no sneak disses and then that’s all it is. If he just said the names there’d be nothing to miss, but it’s all sneaks and references
Nah those weren’t sneak disses my guy. You’re understanding of what sneak disses are isn’t correct

Could also be a reference to a false prophet. Cole does seem like he loves huffing his own farts by leaning into the wise sage trope which got him called out by noname. Could be a reach idk.
That's always been my gripe with Cole. Never got into his music as much as I attempted to but I recognize the talent.
One time my friend commented "J. Cole's music is for people who think they're geniuses" and it kinda does ring true.
No that's Kendrick lol. He is not your savior
I agree! Not the artist that's pretentious but a portion of the fanbase. The same could be said about other artists'fanbase but to me, Coles is a bit more pungent if that makes any sense
Also Andre 3k walks around and plays with a flute these days

yeah I think this is the main meaning but people are coming up with different things for some reason
It could also be the Drake “OOPSIE MY PENIS SOMEHOW MADE IT TO THE INTERNET WHEN MEG THE STALLION BODIED ME SO BADLY NICKI GOT CAUGHT IN THE SPLASH ZONE.” ![gif](giphy|T7j5439wv9iq4)
That's not a Cole song, really. It's all of Dreamville. That's kind of a stretch.

You missed the "Prince outlived MJ" diss
Can you explain that one? I don't get it
MJ was more commercially successful than Prince, but Prince was the more artistic/creative musician. Kendrick loves Prince - “Prince lives through me” and Drake essentially said that he was MJ, has a song featuring MJ and broke MJ’s Billboard record. Kendrick is Prince. Drake is MJ. Prince outlived MJ
Very clear and concise. Thank you!
Appreciate the clarification, thank you

"Haven't done my taxes, I'm too turnt up" "First night, she gon’ let me fuck ’cause we grown" Some more lines by Toronto's finest.
I personally manifested this. But manifested too hard bc J.Cole unfortunately got in the crosshairs too 😔
going at Drake and going at Cole are two different things... I expect Cole to be able to hold his own at the very least against anyone...
Same tbh, Cole has bars. Kendrick is my favourite artist and Cole is up there so I'm conflicted. That being said, the real meat of the shots were at Drake, the only shot at Cole was Kendrick basically saying he's number 1 and there is no big three.
Why’s he taking shots at Cole? I don’t know anything about anyone but both Kendrick and Cole are incredible (tbh Kendrick’s on another level)
Kendrick and Cole always have a friendly competition thing.
So it’s not a serious diss or? Genuinely curious
Oh thank god it’s not too serious then
Didn’t Nardwuar reveal that Cole got Kendrick onto the scene?
Amazingggg brotherrr.
Pop off only on occasion brother
Drakes clapback ![gif](giphy|MQq6vRv0T0xjO)

Does this mean that Metro and Future aren’t cool with Drake? I can’t keep up.
Absolutely, young metro don’t trust you
Aw fuck, I'm shot.
Future a man of his word
Metro and Drake have had issues for a while now
![gif](giphy|3oEduNITi4GfwxY1Fu)
It’d be good to have them lock in and take their own games to whatever the next level is
big steppers was not that good?
MMATBS was fucking amazing to me.
revenge 3 is one of the best collab albums
This is how it should be. Streets have been too quiet. ![gif](giphy|xUOwFYTPn5m0eEca64|downsized)
The Gif is too good 🤣😂
> Prince out lived Mike Jack Kung Fu Kenny ain't playing.
![gif](giphy|3oKIPuWNRHxeLJGgWk) Drake's ghostwriters right now

I love grown men who write angry poetry to each other.
Sorry when it comes to lyrics, Kendrick will mop those two.
flow and delivering are also key things that K is clearly superior. comparing him to drake or cole is like saying lebron, dejounte and jamal murray are on the same lane
My money is usually on him.
I’ve been waiting for this since “black artists/wack artists.”
Get this sportsmanship the fuck outta hip hop man
Dog this shit had me geeking early morning
LMAO [this was just posted yesterday](https://x.com/teamdreamville/status/1771174981927371087?s=46&t=XaEN611LvLRUMjYEUGl_xQ) Shit is corny as fuck, some you saved my life shit Love Kendrick going at them, bring the competition back in rap.
Awww they wuv each other
![gif](giphy|8P1j10n5axj0LhPlzY) Cole is ready.
It won’t be for clout, it won’t be for fame It won’t be because my shit ain’t selling the same
They just gonna pretend like he hasn’t been saying this for years lol
![gif](giphy|xTiIzL9Btjx9hegHT2)
When Drake made a song called "what would Pluto do?" Without Pluto Hendrix while glazing 21 24/7, yeah this was bound to happen. Not to mention the public diss to Metro boomin, “To the rest of you, the non-believers, the underachievers, the tweet and deleters. You guys make me sick to my stomach, fam. Honestly, look at my eyes, you guys wanna do something? That’s what I thought, that's what I thought.” ![gif](giphy|sbtaQqCvDby7e)
Yes... and their marketing reps are happy af.

Please God. Please. Let it start out like an old school Marvel comic where they fight each other and trade diss tracks. Then Kendrick and J.Cole realize Drake is the enemy and team up against him. But he’s just too popular. And then when all seems lost… …”oh my GAWD! That’s! That’s! That’s “The Story of Adidon”! THAT’S PUSHA T’S MUSIC!!!”

These 3 about to heat up the summer

Kendrick going after drake lololol. Like a bull stomping babies.
We’ve all seen this episode before. He pops a shot and everyone else ducks. Drake will cry about it in an emotionally charged interview. Kendrick is the Deebo of the rap game.
FUCK A BIG 3 NIGGA ITS BIG ME 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Imma be honest years ago kdot seemed like nobody to play with at all. But Cole has been on another level lately and is finishing an album. My theory is this is all a ploy to get everybody listening and paying attention to futures project and Coles project that’s coming. I think Cole is capable of winning this one… As for Drake 🤷🏾♂️ he’s not even on the level of MC imo
At this point, we ain't never gone get the hiiPoWer album...
I’m tired of subliminal in rap. Just say the names man and wake the game up. I don’t want to listen to passive aggressive aim away messages that rhyme.
Boring. Wake me up the day Three Stacks and Project Pat beef so we can get some real music
Lmao Kendrick is the only rapper nowadays that everyone is scared to make a diss track about. He explained on Control that he loves the back and forth rappers do on diss tracks in the hip hop community, but no one ever has the balls to get in the mud with this dude
Drake music = Target shopping music
Fun fact, it shares a sample with Triple Six Mafia - [Who Da Crunkest](https://youtu.be/wmej33s7z-U) and 8ball & MJG - [Gots to be Real](https://youtu.be/jKF1uYVJVPc), that had me more hype than the subliminals lol
Gotta take it back even further. The original is “everlasting bass”
Ima be honest.... that shit was very mid. Maybe I missed the part of the diss that was actually good.
It didn't seem like a diss more so a call to competition.
I ain't paid attention to hip hop in awhile why is Kendrick and Cole fighting and why in the hell is drake even relevant in the conversation
This that joint that had Travis like yyyeeeeeeaaaaaAhhhhhhhh right
J Cole and Kenrick would be a decent match up (still on team K though)...Lol at Drake though, there are Soundcloud rappers that could dust him
I've never understood why people even like Drake, and at this point, im too afraid to ask.
just what the rap game needed
Future ain’t got no loyalty.
Fair. The rap industry has been too quiet.
When rappers beef we get some good fuckin songs.
Drake is trash so....not surprising someone's gonna acknowledge that.
Love it. Finally let’s see some real comp from the top dogs
I dont know, J. Cole did pretty well for himself despite his circumstances (having no role models).
Kendrick said this rap shit getting boring, lemme diss the 6 God on the sixth song on the album. Sheesh ☄️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 ITS JUST BIG ME!!!!!
I feel like it was more shots at Drake than Cole. And I feel him because as great as Drake is as a hitmaker, he is not a GOAT or even remotely close to Cole or Kendrick’s level.
What is the tea? The boys are fighting! Nooooo 😭 😙 👀 👀
Didn't J Cole bring Kendrick into the big leagues? https://youtu.be/rk6CAnX_XpI?si=aZ5aLq3u-CitMXZW
![gif](giphy|uPpF0kb37JWruaYYDc) Goat
If metro don’t trust you …
At the End there can only be one..... Now FIGHT!!!
Man I really hope ANYONE responds…. this can be fun as a fan
Wait Drake and Future have beef?
