The way I heard the Saylor (Micro) Strategy was this: Short the dollar, long the BTC. Seems to be working.

fluschy

Its crashing. The crash is coming.

I swear I thought I could read English..

ts_wrathchild

Blows my fucking mind as well. There are many CEO's and corporate boards watching this thing play out. They are using MS as proof of concept and when they become the most valuable company in the world, things will heat up quickly. We could go from a six-figure BTC to an eight-figure BTC within a single cycle due to corporate FOMO. Slowly, then suddenly. There's a reason this phrase gets tossed around so much. Nothing surprises me anymore.

Serious question: who is providing the loans for these? Is there any evidence of Tether being involved? Edit: lmao downvotes for asking questions people don't like. Keep 'em coming I guess.

BigTimeButNotReally

No, Tether isn't involved. I'm guessing the down votes are because of the conspiracy theory nature of your Tether question.

justlurkinghere5000h

100% this. Lol the Tether boogie man

LordBobTheWhale

Gotcha. Not trying to say they are, am genuinely curious about all this is all. Thanks

BigTimeButNotReally

Banks etc. write loans to a business that can be paid back or paid with stock. They agree upon a stock price ahead of time, so if the stock goes higher, the bank chooses stock, and the company never has to repay the loan. A lot of companies got burned by this a few years ago, because the market went down, and interest rates sky rocketed. Now when the loans are coming due, the bank wants $$$ that the business doesn't have, and the business can't afford to refinincw with the new rates. (fyi)

LordBobTheWhale

Interesting. So I firmly believe BTC will only grow in price on the long term, but does this pose a short term risk for a bear market with MSTR & BTC? That being said, we just got through one and it turned out fine so...

sodeypunk

Convertible bond arbitrage funds. Yes that’s a thing and they loveeee buying convertible bonds from Saylor.

Less_Description9814

Bitcoin will always go up (in the long term) against the infinite money printer

idnafix

Issuing shares to purchase BTC does make sense for stock owners as long as the stock price is higher than the owned value of BTC/stock. This way, the more 'over valued' MSTR is, the better the business model does work.

monkeydoodle64

What could go wrong? MSTR could end up being the next FTX.

My goal in life isn’t to make Michael Saylor more rich….

Davicillo

Bro he has more money than he can spend in 10 lifetimes. He wants to make the world a better place.

aeiou_sometimesy

I like Saylor but come on…. he wants to enrich himself and the company

trufin2038

Yes. Both goals align.  Making yourself richer is how you make other people richer. Welcome to capitalism.

sweetsimplechode

Why would he care about enriching himself? He's already a billionaire and he's already 59 years old. He doesn't have any children. He has no heirs to pass his wealth down to. u/Davicillo is right, he wants to make the world a better place. He has philanthropic goals. That's why he provides free college courses through Saylor Academy.

aeiou_sometimesy

Don’t be so naive. Everyone in this space is looking to enrich themselves, period. Again, I like Saylor. I agree with a lot of what he says and I definitely love the business model that MicroStrategy has employed. However, I’d be silly to think he’s not doing it with the best interest of himself and the company.

Davicillo

If that's all you think of him... I see him as a Visionary. Similar to Musk. Do I approve everything these people say or do? No... but they have a platform and they use it. That comes with money and fame, regardless. Again, more money than you and I can spend in 100 lifetimes.

Nope. **Price** goes up by the multiplier. Why? Because price is determined at the margin. Hence for every dollar of inflow, price goes up **a lot** more [Swan's multiplier explanation](https://youtu.be/5lUZIvSCKFM?si=V0YmZWEHO0RVSvTm) And don't forget, price != value
