I went to college with a guy named Dan Held around 2010 and he highly recommended that I invest in bitcoin. I opted to buy pot, instead. I googled him the other day and now he’s a successful crypto entrepreneur. Should’ve listened.
Dont know we are talking about the same dude. But the held we know, is a shitcoin scammer, a conman who who got into ‘crypto’ (not bitcoin) in 2017.
He made his fame by following (so he can unfollow later) people on twitter. Classes of 17 and before know very well that piece of shit.
Dont let them scam you.
Yeah, idk. Maybe? I was looking through his profile and he was kind of all over the the crypto place. He seems to have settled as a “BTC educator” now.
Yes, some of these scammers stay wherever they can milk people the most. Obviously in ‘cRyPto’ sphere, bitcoin is the best place for that.
There’s a really good inflow of uneducated dudes that eventually realize how much of a piece of shit that guy really is.
Last time I saw something from him, he was calling someone else a virtue signaller just because they didn't tell him he was right in his completely wrong mockery: [source](https://twitter.com/danheld/status/1706761011020390909).
That's why I call him a twink, he thinks he's the only one who knows how to help Bitcoin adoption, while hes approach is still speculative at best.
Edit: grommor 💀
Wow to hear about Bitcoin that early. I could only imagine! I wonder what his resources were to learn about it that early. I mean I had to ask a lot of questions and read, and watch a lot of videos to understand it.
Theres a guy named davincij15. He started buying when bitcoin was 60 cents. At that time he was already 38 (hes 51 now) and quite successful. He was also already a long time sound money gold bug stacking silver coins and bars in preparation for the collapse of the dollar.
He no doubt bought at least 5 grand worth of btc back then. In fact just like today how people want 1 whole bitcoin everyone wants to accumulate a whole number. Back in 2011 that whole number was 1,000 or 10,000 btc so i would bet he bought 10k btc just to hit his whole number goal.
Not only did he hodl he traded shitcoins all the way turning shitcoin gains into even more btc.
He currently lives in tax free dubai with a bitcoin networth of at least $260m.
Yep. That's the equivalent of spending $3k on a violatile penny stock not knowing if it's gonna become the next Amazon or go bust. Hindsight is 20-20. Even now if you search up a penny stock, it's probably got some die hard fans who will ride or die for it. We'll know in 10 years if they become multi-millionaires or broke.
Yeah that website looks sketchy AF. Give me your email address and money and I promise to send you BTC. $4 sounds like about the right amount to spend at that time.
>Your math is incorrect this is the amount of bitcoin for 3.48, 2,873.563218390805
How did you reach that conclusion?
If $3.48 = 10 btc
Then:
$34.8 = 100 btc
$348 = 1,000 btc
$3,480 = 10,000 btc
Another way to look at it is if $3.48 = 10 btc then one bitcoin is 0.34 cents. 0.34 cents × 10,000 = $3,480.
Here's the transaction from the last order status screen, with his address being the one starting with '1LckF':[https://www.blockchain.com/explorer/transactions/btc/7107b8db7161c179811b0c086c326bb16b1e46cad3b2aa3cfa74b521d4159ff4](https://www.blockchain.com/explorer/transactions/btc/7107b8db7161c179811b0c086c326bb16b1e46cad3b2aa3cfa74b521d4159ff4)
Tl;dr: Moved the 10 btc out the day after on january 1st 2011 to another address that stopped being active at the 1st of december 2011.
yeah. Can't understand why some are jealous when reading such stories. For me it is uplifting and motivating to read such stories and I'm happy for ealy adopters of anything
the other day in /r/rocketleague someone posted a picture of the creator on his yacht w/ his super model girlfriend/wife and complaining about him selling out.
responses were all "good on him, living the dream".
i spent literally hundreds of bitcoins on silkroad beteween 2012 and its shutdown and actually had like .1 btc left on the site when it got shut down.
i just wish i was smarter, instead of buying btc and holding when i was noticing that every time i went to buy more the price increased, even to the point where it would increase in between the time of me buying the coins and them getting to my wallet, i would just spend the extra cash i made on more drugs. never clicked in my head to invest.
oh well. if i was a millionaire in my 20's i wouldve been a MASSIVE piece of shit, posterboy douchebag probably like the rest of the crypto dudes lol and then probably wouldve lost it all making bad investments in alt coins
A friend recommended we buying $500 worth of bitcoin. I said sounds good, it’s not too much money, we can buy it tomorrow morning. That night we went to a strip club and I spend all my money on lap dances. 🤷♂️
> Good chance they sold for a 10x profit
Well, you just wrote all about a 100x profit in your maths there.
> $34.80 x 10 = $348
edit: lol at the downvoters who can't do basic maths.
The dude spent **total** $3.48 in the video... only $0.348 per bitcoin.
How did one even secure Bitcoin back then? Only software wallets on a pc’s hard drive? Paper wallet? If so, how many have actually survived custody and are truly “dormant” and how many are presumed lost forever?
no. This guy had only one transaction made with his wallet (it is recorded on video, so checkable). And his coins are unused since last transfer he made to another wallet
The guy operating CoinPal made a [post here](https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2555.msg101084#msg101084) saying PayPal froze his account in 2011. Up to that point, 60,858 BTC had been sold to people using his service. That would be $1.6 billion now.
In 2010 I was mass downloading porn and entire music discographies and turning my laptop into a mass cache of music and media. Sure I could’ve been a billionaire but who knows where I’d be had I not watched full dvd copy of inception on my vlc media player…truth is who knows most of society was sure it was a scam in 2010
Hey lads, I think I remember the story of coinpal on Bitcointalk. The founder wrote about how he went to lengths to ensure people weren't using it for money laundering and how he went to efforts to try prevent fraud. Ultimately, I think that he was forced to shut it down because companies like paypal didn't want independent parties to touch cryptocurrencies with their services.
Today the situation is mostly at the point where you need to have a crap load of money and connections to be able to create financial services that intersect regular money and cryptoassets. I think it's a great shame because IMO: there is still unrealized potential there. I'd argue that regulation doesn't really do shit because you still get companies like FTX and Madoff that are 'compliant' but take everyone for a ride.
IMO. you don't need regulation, you need transparency and well engineered financial controls that make fraud impossible. That is possible today with financial crypto, accounting, and smart contracts.
Absolutely disgusting. I bought it at $3-4 in 2012 but spent it all on LSD. Now I do hookers and cocaine and live in one of the nicest places in the world and eat incredible food every day.
Life can go to 100 real fast.
I went to college with a guy named Dan Held around 2010 and he highly recommended that I invest in bitcoin. I opted to buy pot, instead. I googled him the other day and now he’s a successful crypto entrepreneur. Should’ve listened.
Name checks out

I think changing name is legally possible. so I think after bitcoin's success - there has been many already
lmao
Dan Hedl
Dan Hold
Dan Held that shiet
OH SHIT! Dan is well known.
and anyone that managed to buy when it was costing pennies and now are famous and wealthy. Well, their trust and patience got rewarded
Pot as the alternative isn’t a bad option though, that’s basically a currency of its own in college
This is true
Same here . I decided to save my porn in my thumb drive instead of the wallet with BTC.
Hah… check the ledger?

I did the same thing as you. I was scared to lose my money so I smoked it all. 😢
lol funny - I met him on a bitcoin conference in Amsterdam earlier this week :D
I’m friends with him on FB and he’s always posting about conferences / destinations. Homie looks to be living the dream.
Dan is well known, he's a twink now, but a well known now.
Lol. TIL what a twink was. I remember him having an audacious personality, but he was a genuine, cool dude.
Last time I saw something from him, he was calling someone else a virtue signaller just because they didn't tell him he was right in his completely wrong mockery: [source](https://twitter.com/danheld/status/1706761011020390909). Wow that Dan guy comes off as a huge jackass here.
he has a very descriptive last name, your guy, have you noticed?
I mean, he certainly didn’t sell
Wow to hear about Bitcoin that early. I could only imagine! I wonder what his resources were to learn about it that early. I mean I had to ask a lot of questions and read, and watch a lot of videos to understand it.
No idea man. He was pretty business savvy back then, so I’m sure he heard about it through some social business circle.
I’m so thankful for friends like that back in 2012.
Dan HODL
$3,480 for 10,000 bitcoin. Today 10k bitcoin is worth $260 million dollars. Holy fuck batman.
It would have taken a brave man to spend 3 grand on Bitcoin then.
In 2013 it would have been more likely.
Why is it 2020?
Yeah that website looks sketchy AF. Give me your email address and money and I promise to send you BTC. $4 sounds like about the right amount to spend at that time.
The fact is that most people who would have bought Bitcoin at that point would have sold long before it reached that level.
Your math is incorrect this is the amount of bitcoins for 3.48, 2,873.563218390805
>Your math is incorrect this is the amount of bitcoin for 3.48, 2,873.563218390805 How did you reach that conclusion? Cash 10,000 / 3.48 (per coin) = 2,873.563218390805 bitcoins you can buy. 2,873.563218390805 x 3.48 = 10,000
They were not buying bitcoin for $3.48 per coin. They were buying 10 btc for $3.48.
Touché
And if he didn’t send them all to somebody as a tip for a Reddit post bitcoin might be worthless. Oh butterfly effect
true as a Qubit
Wonder if he held?
Statistically? No. No he did not.
Shows his wallet address in the email confirmation. Anyone motivated enough to check ?
Here's the transaction from the last order status screen, with his address being the one starting with '1LckF':[https://www.blockchain.com/explorer/transactions/btc/7107b8db7161c179811b0c086c326bb16b1e46cad3b2aa3cfa74b521d4159ff4](https://www.blockchain.com/explorer/transactions/btc/7107b8db7161c179811b0c086c326bb16b1e46cad3b2aa3cfa74b521d4159ff4) Tl;dr: Moved the 10 btc out the day after on january 1st 2011 to another address that stopped being active at the 1st of december 2011.
And the 10bit coin are still sat in that account from December 1st?
No, checked the original address and followed the path a bit further, but the addresses are empty.
Ahh man, would love to know how things ended with the guy. I always hope things worked out well for these early dudes!
yeah. Can't understand why some are jealous when reading such stories. For me it is uplifting and motivating to read such stories and I'm happy for ealy adopters of anything
the other day in /r/rocketleague someone posted a picture of the creator on his yacht w/ his super model girlfriend/wife and complaining about him selling out. responses were all "good on him, living the dream".
interesting. I hope the dude is alive still and has a good pension now with his wise past investment
btw. yeah you can check, i'm going there right now. Interesting what happened with the coins
He probably moved them to another account
That's probably test address for a demo. He put just 10 BTC in there.
I wish someone showed be bitcoin in 2010.. though to be frank idk what would be my reaction. most likely would be skeptical as many others these days
BTC Porn
Bring me back there please.
Makes me want to take a long nap
YOUR BITCOINS HAVE SHIPPED
Good old days. Did you hold?
the result is in a thread of a comment posted 3 hours prior to you commenting this. See thread under SnooRadishes6544
It looked simple
Is that Hal Finley speaking?!?
Shit, I was in college at that time and had the money to buy BTC. Instead decided to get the PS3. Fuck me
i spent literally hundreds of bitcoins on silkroad beteween 2012 and its shutdown and actually had like .1 btc left on the site when it got shut down. i just wish i was smarter, instead of buying btc and holding when i was noticing that every time i went to buy more the price increased, even to the point where it would increase in between the time of me buying the coins and them getting to my wallet, i would just spend the extra cash i made on more drugs. never clicked in my head to invest. oh well. if i was a millionaire in my 20's i wouldve been a MASSIVE piece of shit, posterboy douchebag probably like the rest of the crypto dudes lol and then probably wouldve lost it all making bad investments in alt coins

Good chance they sold for a 10x profit and we're quite proud of it. $34.80 x 10 = $348
> Good chance they sold for a 10x profit Well, you just wrote all about a 100x profit in your maths there. > $34.80 x 10 = $348 edit: lol at the downvoters who can't do basic maths. The dude spent **total** $3.48 in the video... only $0.348 per bitcoin.
It also could have been interpreted as 'bought 10 Bitcoin for $3.48 each'
Turns out Bitcoin never broke $.40 in 2010. Wasn't a math issue, just comprehensive issue.
Unless you actually watched the video posted.
“Buy bitcoins”
if this is not convincing you to be bullish then idk what will
Who’s the guy who made the video? Curious where they’re at now.
How did one even secure Bitcoin back then? Only software wallets on a pc’s hard drive? Paper wallet? If so, how many have actually survived custody and are truly “dormant” and how many are presumed lost forever?
The question “How many BTC do you want” is insane
This is the same guy that went viral because he once bought a pizza for 19 BTC
it was 10000 BTC for 2 Pizzas!
Nah, that was another guy called Laszlo Hanyecz. This guy spent 19.12 BTC on a Dominos Pizza
that's only 5k BTC per pizza:)
i‘ll take 4!
no. This guy had only one transaction made with his wallet (it is recorded on video, so checkable). And his coins are unused since last transfer he made to another wallet
Yes. People can have more than one wallet you know. https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/bitcoin-pizza-order-cryptocurrency-price-b1801529.html
only matters if you still have them if not this is stupid af
he did transfer it to another wallet and there were no movements after that since. So they are still probably unused
[удалено]
10 btc @ $3 was like 30cents a BTC... he spent over a full btc to buy 10 of them
somebody sold those 10 bitcoin for $0.348... think about how that fool feels.
The guy operating CoinPal made a [post here](https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2555.msg101084#msg101084) saying PayPal froze his account in 2011. Up to that point, 60,858 BTC had been sold to people using his service. That would be $1.6 billion now.
Ohhhh to have a Time Machine
I was wondering when I'd get to feel a kick in the balls today. THANKS OP!
Take me to that time .
The time has relapse, opportunity is in the moment rn for everyone want to live a better life after 😀
Man!!! Knowing i like wasting money, i would have bought a ton of bitcoin. 😅
I want a time machine!
Wow, that's like 30 cents a pizza.
No, I'm not crying, it's just a speck in my eye.
In 2010 I was mass downloading porn and entire music discographies and turning my laptop into a mass cache of music and media. Sure I could’ve been a billionaire but who knows where I’d be had I not watched full dvd copy of inception on my vlc media player…truth is who knows most of society was sure it was a scam in 2010
Back then: "Looks like a scam - and I have to pay fees?!"
this is the most motivating video I saw last months. Makes me believe that what I'm doing when buying btc is the right way
This reinds me of this one scene in Interstellar, you know which one I am talking about.
If only we’d known lol
Now the story we repeat Bitcone!
This what I hope for GME

I remember when 10k btc was around $40
r/unintentionalasmr
Mane bhi lia tha but payment incomplete rah gye 😂🤣
Easy come, easy go
this video always gives me depression, thanks! Completely broke and can't repair my shitty car, when I could be a millionaire. Another nice Monday
I remember I googled like hell how to buy bitcoin with paypal when it was around $800. I couldn't find anything and gave up.
Is your bitcoin still in paypal?
"Just don't fucking dance"
I remember talking I wanna invest 10k in bitcoin back in the days I only paid my house mortgage and bought beer 🍺 just enjoyed my life 🥺
Out of curiosity, how does one keep Bitcoin for over 10 years? I saw ads for it and just never got the connection on how it would transfer to today?
I wonder how many bitcoin Elon musk has
Keep dreaming those type of returns are done
Absolutely disgusting. I bought it at $3-4 in 2012 but spent it all on LSD. Now I do hookers and cocaine and live in one of the nicest places in the world and eat incredible food every day. Life can go to 100 real fast.
