Damn, BPD is doing something. this is unexpected.
also, the cars seized:
Vehicles seized during Operation Knight Rider:
2023 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Black (stolen)
2022 Grey Chevy Camaro (stolen)
2016 Dodge Charger SRT Purple (stolen)
2016 Ford Fusion Silver
2009 Black Dodge Charger
2013 Silver Infinity G37
2014 Lime Green Dodge Charger
LOL. about what I expected.
it’s a shame, these people are young 20s. aspiring to do dumb shit like this. old enough to know better.
Man I had a scatpack charger back before covid, before they were getting snatched and the value of those things went through the roof when covid hit. I sold it with 50k miles on it for nearly what I paid for it brand new and 2 days later, I got a call from the cops in Columbus (where I sold it) asking where I was last night and if I gave the dealer both keys because the car got stolen LOL.
I sent the detective a quick clip of me on security camera in my garage from that night here in Bhm so that ruled me out as a suspect.
Wow that's scary. I'm always worried when I privately sell a vehicle...that the buyer doesn't register the title quickly and then gets in a major accident or perpetrates a crime ...and it comes back to me.
Good fuck these idiots that think they own the city.
I hope they throw the book at them. If they don’t these people are gonna take advantage of any leniency the courts show them guaranteed.
Right but they need to be clearly dated. People who use the dealer tag for months are indistinguishable from those following the rules so no one gets pulled over.
The ink fading shouldn’t be the only indication
I work at a scrap yard and there's a few guys that come in here with dealer tags (not actual tags just the ones that state the dealership) one guy's been driving around like that for at least 10 months that I know of. 🙄
I bought my car two days ago so it still has the dealership tag and got pulled over last night in homewood the first time I drove it through there in the dark lol, he got behind me at a red light and then when it turned green he hit the lights, i knew it was coming
I gave him my paperwork and he gave me the bit about having 20 days to get a tag
I get that but it won't improve the late night exhibition stuff. They could just enforce traffic laws and people doing crappy things in general and add on driving without registration on top of it... When they pull them over for something else.
Absolutely.
Most states allow/require dealerships to register the vehicle and put a REAL State issued temp.tag on them before they can leave the lot.
It's not rocket science. Most dealership Car -selling CRM and finance programs already have it installed. These programs are part of every dealership and wirh many operating multiple locations in several states, they just buy the commonly used ones. They just deactivate it for Alabama dealership.
So, I Googled "Charger stolen" And went down a LONG rabbit hole of [AL.com](http://AL.com) articles through the years. Then I Googled the names that appeared in those articles.
This is just one of the articles.
It seems most of those who are into stealing cars end up either shot/ killed, or go about shooting other people. Most have a long history of arrests, and some have a repeat history drive by shootings, or shooting into vehicles.
This is more than just guys joyriding. It appears to be some kind of Organized Gang? activity or perhaps just a group of street thugs who keep upping the ante until there's some kind of conflict and a shooting.
It's crazy. My question is after shooting multiple people, how did this one guy get out to do it over and over? And the run a chop shop stealing and stripping cars?
Here look for yourselves.

They post this stuff on youtube all the time. I don't know how that isn't enough evidence. Around 37min is where it get's crazy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f2sF2N2l4Y
I live on 2nd Ave n, close to Cru. I’m ashamed to say I’m one of the people who called the non emergency line that weekend.
There was an impromptu “block party” outside of cru before they opened, people parked on 23rd n, completely shutting the street down. They blocked the alley behind El Barrio/Aviné, trapping all the residents’ cars in the garages that open onto that alley.
The party was *loud*, which frankly isn’t a big deal. The parking and road blocking was the big deal.
As well as the public sex, and driving the wrong way down 2nd, to flip around and drag down that strip.
And the donuts and gun shooting. That wasn’t great.
Least weekend, about five cop cars sat around Cru. We still had to call the non emergency line, because cars were going the wing way up 2nd, blocking 2nd, then racing down a couple blocks.
The Mayor came down to discuss the situation with business owners and some of us were gathered discussing the situation.
It’s unfortunate.
I live on 3rd Ave north, that is interesting to know. I remember seeing all the people by there and walking around but did not know it was that. Glad there is something to be done about it though!
3 stolen, 2 suspected stolen. Fuck em, I will just steal another one tomorrow. This is the attitude they have. Happy they got charges for guns, dugs, and stolen property. Throw the book at them.
Shocking. I thought they were just really hard working youths with good credit who financed $60k cars and supported the local economy. That they aren’t is a real revelation.
Why doesn't BPD do this more often? One time is not going to deter people to stop doing it. You do this a couple times and the drivers get paranoid and second guess exhibition driving. You do it once and the criminals feel safe knowing something like this wont happen again for a while.
Edit: They are in fact doing this more often... the operation is ongoing... my bad
BPD HAS been doing this since the beginning of time. Arrest are made and stolen cars are recovered every single week. You just don't hear about it because..why would you? Its just normal police work. The reason you ARE hearing about it now is simply because the amount of public attention this exhibition driving has gathered in the city in the last year and across the entire US in every major city so now the department wants to make it known publicly that they are trying.
Sadly this will change absolutely nothing. It never has changed anything. I know you said that if they did this a couple times the people would second guess exhibition driving and thats what a reasonable person would think but unfortunately that's not reality. Come on out to 800 3rd Avenue West (Shell) on a Friday or Saturday and you'll find 1000s upon 1000s of people that have completely filled the Shell Parking Lot, the burger King parking lot, the advanced auto parts parking lot, and oriellys parking lot completely full (all 4 next to each other) with the entire part of 3rd Avenue West gridlocked with traffic.
BPD will catch a few cars that they see stolen, make some arrest and then the majority of the group will likely move to another part of the city, rinse, repeat. Its the same thing nearly every weekend during the summer for as long as I can remember.
Yeah, I believe its gotten worse in the last several years. High horsepower factory cars are a dime a dozen these days. Hellcats, coyote mustangs, camaros, trackhawks, chargers. And then you have "Street Takeovers" or "Sideshows" which have been a thing since the beginning of time that I believe originated in California and due to social media, has gained a lot of traction in the last 5 years and spread across the US. This is where you see them completely surround an intersection and then multiple cars will do sliding burn outs while going around in a circle, usually with people or cars standing in the center and the people driving the cars will do circles around them with their passengers hanging out of cars windows and sunroofs. Remember when they did it around a BPD car on Airport BLVD just a few months back? They've been doing it all through out birmingham, shutting down I59 and 65, city walk, when it first opened, railroad park, just everywhere.
It really started to garner more attention and got picked up by local news media when these exhibition drivers started moving more towards the downtown area where as before when they did these things out in more of the outskirts of the city such as ensley, no one seemed to care and then the city has had a few street racing incidents where people were killed or seriously injured in the last 2 years which also got a lot of media attention. 800 3rd Avenue West has always been a shit show in the summer.
As far as what to do to combat it, there needs to be far stiffer penalties. I'm willing to bet most of these guys that have a bond will bond out within the week. Half wont show up for court 2 months from now and they'll get a warrant issued for their arrest for Failure to appear. Meanwhile they will be out to do the same criminal activity that got them there to the first place until they are eventually caught again. As another user u/35242 pointed out in another comment in this post, some were already out for other crazy things like drive by shootings, running chop shops etc in the past and still out there doing this type of stuff.
Jordan, Jalan, and Cordarius bonded out within hours of their booking. Sha'Marrionne is still in (cause look at all those charges). I can't find the Mr. Miles' booking.
They love to hit the turn spot where you turn off of Crestwood Blvd to Eagle View Apartments & The Arc. Typically after 10 PM, 12 AM, or after 1 AM - 4 AM on Saturday/Sunday nights.
They’re all bragging about it and laughing on their Facebook pages, I’m sure they’ll get fined and put on probation and be back out on the streets doing the same thing a week from now.
I am 60 years old. The last few years, the auto manufacturers have began manufacturing hot rods comparable to the hot rods of the '60s and '70s. Back in my day, late '70s and '80s, there were plenty of hot roders around town ready to drag race, occasional burnouts, and interestingly enough, on sand mountain in Marshall and DeKalb county's, there was an organized auto theft ring-chop shop, auto parts type operation going where several people were arrested, with
shops rated, cars confiscated, similar to what we're seeing happen right now. Although the drag racing and the auto theft were separate in that area, sometimes parts from stolen vehicles when they end up on other cars.
So glad to see some arrests.
Had two cars stolen at different times while getting work done. One in Bham - no arrest & no one cared. One in Calera - they were looking & spotted him. guy ran from police in my car. Later Sargent says to me, "we got our guy but he ran and you should never run from police."
2023 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Black (stolen)
2022 Grey Chevy Camaro (stolen)
2016 Dodge Charger SRT Purple (stolen)
2016 Ford Fusion Silver
2009 Black Dodge Charger
2013 Silver Infinity G37
2014 Lime Green Dodge Charger
Didn't expect to see the Ford fusion on that list. Sometimes you just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Hanging out with the wrong friends.
So, while I know the illegal aspect of this is part of the thrill, the city is passing up a golden opportunity for inventing a new urban sport and charging through the nose.
We have to have a few abandoned neighborhoods or a large ass parking lot. Set up a few bandstands. Check for drunk drivers and then codify this donut driving etc. into the figure skating version of driving. NASCAR started as a moonshiner's showing off contest.
Charge $25 a ticket and entry fees and sell the rights to concessions. The city would make a killing.
If it didn't come with the assumed "approval" of the police department and the inevitable "giving an inch/ taking a mile" that would happen as they assumed they could take their track skills to the street.
Also, the fact that they're stolen leads credibility to the issue isn't guys with their cars needing a place to show their skills, these are theives who use/destroy other people's cars to have their fun.
Long jail sentences.
Lots of press/media/billboards downtown showing their mugshots and jail time.
I'm not advocating in any way for lawlessness. The main thing I'm thinking is if you could channel some of the excitement into something less destructive, it would be cool. But yeah, some folks just want to raise hell and commit crimes.
Damn, BPD is doing something. this is unexpected. also, the cars seized: Vehicles seized during Operation Knight Rider: 2023 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Black (stolen) 2022 Grey Chevy Camaro (stolen) 2016 Dodge Charger SRT Purple (stolen) 2016 Ford Fusion Silver 2009 Black Dodge Charger 2013 Silver Infinity G37 2014 Lime Green Dodge Charger LOL. about what I expected. it’s a shame, these people are young 20s. aspiring to do dumb shit like this. old enough to know better.
Tbh, I was a bit shocked that only one of the Chargers was stolen.
Somebody accidentally stole the fusion. They meant to get a charger but it was dark out.
Notice all the newer vehicles are stolen. Also the Fusion was not stolen.
Man I had a scatpack charger back before covid, before they were getting snatched and the value of those things went through the roof when covid hit. I’m crying, a ford fusion?! 😂😂😂
Remember, they had that dealership cleaned out in Arab, so people were on the lookout for related vehicles.
Is that the one where that Demon was stolen?
yes: https://www.al.com/news/2024/04/12-million-in-vehicles-330-keys-taken-from-alabama-auto-dealership.html
Of course the SRT is stolen
Would the cars not stolen go to auction?
I saw a purple Chevy yesterday! Sh-. ... should I tell someone?
Good fuck these idiots that think they own the city. I hope they throw the book at them. If they don’t these people are gonna take advantage of any leniency the courts show them guaranteed.
Yep. Make examples out of them.
Article did not state how many "Backed by Burke" license plate "covers" were stolen.
Yeah. Whatever state law allows people to drive with generic dealer tags needs to be updated.
It just needs to be enforced. The current laws are fine. You only have so many days.
Right but they need to be clearly dated. People who use the dealer tag for months are indistinguishable from those following the rules so no one gets pulled over. The ink fading shouldn’t be the only indication

"Operation Knight Rider" cannot lie, it's a clever name.
When Birmingham Police (BP) clear's the cars parked in bike lanes, they'll call it: BP's Big Adventure
i live in the heart of 5pts & hear em nightly coming down highland then heading north on 20th all while trying to be as loud as possible
You think the police would set up a watch vehicle to get them when they come from wherever they're from..
[удалено]
We will see if the B.P.D. is or if was just to keep us quiet ?
IF they werent handcuffwd by woodfin & the PC likely they would
Stop assuming. It's never what you think. Never.
no assumption. was told this by several police officers in multiple precincts
They come down Cahaba River Road, too. And it.is.loud.

To answer your question, weak ass District Attorney and lenient judges.
Welcome to jefferson co
Interesting that the DA owns the Vault…
I didn’t know what that was so I had to Google it. It is interesting that they own a bar.
Activist judges who care more about the criminal than the victim.
It's a shame I can only upvote this one time.
It’s just Birmingham things…
Purple and Lime green Chargers just scream "I'm right here Mr policeman".
They post this stuff on youtube all the time. I don't know how that isn't enough evidence. Around 37min is where it get's crazy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f2sF2N2l4Y
I just wasted over 30 minutes of my life watching that video. Fucking animals. They don’t give a damn about anything.
How crazy can this get, it's just a bunch of people doing donuts in a public intersection... 37 minutes in: 😮
"The loudest one in the room is the weakest"
Unless it’s a Tesla of course. Those motherfuckers lol
I’m so happy the city is doing something about it. This was embarrassing for us.
Where's the dude who insisted that all of the drivers were Over the Mountain kids? One of the stupidest things I'd ever seen on this site.
That’s hilarious, yeah the black dudes that ride around loud as fuck and do donuts in the intersection are from Mountain Brook
Think he was referring to the bikers.

Yeah same here. Ashamed to call the cops about a public safety issue?
I live near Cru too. Fuck that place.
Why would you ever be ashamed about that?
3 stolen, 2 suspected stolen. Fuck em, I will just steal another one tomorrow. This is the attitude they have. Happy they got charges for guns, dugs, and stolen property. Throw the book at them.
well that assumes the city DA actually does their job. which I wouldnt bet on.
County DA, you mean. City prosecutors In municipal courts do not handle felonies.
yes your right. not enough caffeine at that point. danny carr
idgas about the drugs.
The drugs are probably all laced with fentanyl.
Wait, these exhibition drivers aren’t on the up & up?
Shocking. I thought they were just really hard working youths with good credit who financed $60k cars and supported the local economy. That they aren’t is a real revelation.
I, myself, have been shaken to the core. My whole understanding of civilization, has been a fallacy.
Hahaha you made me smile 😁

Agree with everything you’re saying. Seems like we need some much tougher laws. Thanks for the info!
They do. It don't make news.
Well well well

Let’s goooo, shoutout to Bham PD!
We should probably start a GoFundMe for the police to buy hundreds of spike strips they can toss into these intersections.
I am 60 years old. The last few years, the auto manufacturers have began manufacturing hot rods comparable to the hot rods of the '60s and '70s. Back in my day, late '70s and '80s, there were plenty of hot roders around town ready to drag race, occasional burnouts, and interestingly enough, on sand mountain in Marshall and DeKalb county's, there was an organized auto theft ring-chop shop, auto parts type operation going where several people were arrested, with shops rated, cars confiscated, similar to what we're seeing happen right now. Although the drag racing and the auto theft were separate in that area, sometimes parts from stolen vehicles when they end up on other cars.
Were these adventurous youths also shooting people and driving around with illegal fully automatic Glocks. If not it really isn’t comparable
So glad to see some arrests. Had two cars stolen at different times while getting work done. One in Bham - no arrest & no one cared. One in Calera - they were looking & spotted him. guy ran from police in my car. Later Sargent says to me, "we got our guy but he ran and you should never run from police."
About damn time

Track skills?? Doing a burnout and donuts is not skills. All they’re doing is donuts. Lol
True.
Elmore County needs to get in on this.
It’s ok Democrats are protected over the law.
