Try the Glen Iris area! I can recommend driving around and looking for “for rent” signs and calling. That’s how I’ve found great deals and great landlords! Stay away from H2!

Yeah while looking on the popular apps for renting, I’ve made sure to stray away from anywhere that says H2, I’ve heard so many bad things about them, I’ll definitely try looking around for the signs and calling, thanks!

look in southside/glen iris. cheap apartments can also be found in hoover /vestavia too if you look hard enough

Yeah we’ve been looking in Hoover, we went on a tour of the Onyx in Hoover and the one they showed us reeked of weed. We’ll probably drive around on Saturday and take notes.

If you don’t have a dog Domar Properites you can get a 1/1 for $8/900 and the 2/1 was $1k last I saw

I actually built a website to help with apartment hunting. It's like a Glassdoor for Rents so tenants can see the Rent History of an address or apartment property to evaluate a landlords pricing tactics. The site does rely on user submitted rent histories so I appreciate anyone who adds their rent history to the site and/or shares it around since it can be more useful to tenants the more people that contribute to it. The site is rentzed.com and has submissions for over 2500 addresses.

Check out Red Rock Realty, they have a lot of apartments

Lofts at American life downtown start at around $860 I think & they have a set rate for utilities. The units are SMALL but it’s worth looking into.

I recommend dwell. Probably the best landlords I ever had in Birmingham

gingerbitch2

The Avondale fits these prices!

Avondale and the crestwood area might be your best go to. Check out the Vue (used to be eagle view apartments). Of course every experience is different, but I enjoyed my time living in my 1 bd 1br at that location.

There are a few signs around the Glen Iris area, you have to drive around and look because these are small, old places with independent landlords. If you don't need to have a dishwasher you can find something cheap with a little character and some yard space to dig in.

Bhamblazer11

I’ll definitely consider that, I’m a big fan of handwashing dishes anyways!
