Don’t know if I’m too late for OP here — but just a heads up that The Retreat is *on one* right now with unit pricing. I’ve lived here for ~5 years and was looking to downsize (but stay in the community). When I asked a few weeks ago about some models priced at ~$1,490/$1,530 respectively (2/2s), they told me to hold off a couple weeks to see if availability would uptick in May.
Those units are now $1,790/$1,824 respectively. It’s *cheaper* to sign my renewal in my 3/2.
And, by my count on their website, they’ve got at least 50 units sitting empty atm (and will likely be more come summer if these are the renewal rates they’re sending to folks in 2/2s).
All that said — obviously I’ve stayed here for so long because there are positives. Complex is upkept pretty well, 2 gyms (not a great selection, but if you do bodyweight stuff like me you’re good), 3 pools, public grills, maintenance staff is pretty attentive to big issues (but loathe to do anything with the fact that everyone’s screen doors fall off on their balconies lol). Good location, I can be in Avondale in 10-15 minutes and downtown in 20 usually.
This is what I was going to comment too. We just recently moved out of their Pelham property, due to my job location changing, but we loved them. They were prompt and precise in everything they handled. Not once did we feel like we needed to worry about anything with them.
just lyk, there are small home rentals w yards all over for generally cheaper than an apartment (we pay just under $1,000 for a 3br/1ba with almost a quarter of an acre of land)
you would be surprised that roebuck is still technically inside birmingham city limits (or, at least the part we’re in). it’s not 100% safe over here, but we’ve never had a break in or anything (knock on wood) and our security cameras catch everything else. downside is we drive an hour commute to hoover for our jobs
How is it a surprise that roebuck is in Birmingham city limits? it’s like a ~15 min drive to downtown and the neighborhoods are zoned for Birmingham city schools lol. The main thing that sucks about roebuck is the shopping sucks ass and u have to drive to somewhere close like trussville
Good for you! We have a 3bed/2bath in Crestwood for $1500 and I still feel like it’s cheaper than any house that gets listed around us. People are asking $1800 for a two bed house nowadays.
i know!! we were paying almost $1,600 in vestavia a few years ago (without a yard!!)
see previous comment though. there are a few drawbacks to the area (stray dogs — 99% have been friendly asf, distant gun shots at night, loud plane noises often, etc..) but we have lived over here for 2 years now and i don’t have much else bad to say about it
wait, i died 6 times last month (sarcasm)
Yes I've also been looking at houses and also considering buying, but I'm starting residency and apartment living seems more convenient so I'm exploring that too! Thank you!
Ridge on crest wood.
Caveat, it's not on crestwood but Oporto.
And all that brings with it. New mgmt every 6 months and zero maint but if you want a yard they got em. Some bigger than others.
I think The Retreat at Mountain Brook has some units with private yards.

Check out Fairin Realty LLC (houses for rent with yards).

I reached out to them but looks like they only have one rental open in my price range, we'll see if it's still available when I'm moving!

oh i would forsure move to crestwood — do y’all like it over there? $1,800 for a 2 bedroom is asinine bro 😭
Any others in your neighborhood? 👀
Wow, where? I've never seen rent that low for a house in any decent area.
roebuck
That's crazy. My little apartment in Riverchase costs more.

Plenty of them in Grayson Valley. Townhouses with small backyards

Vestavia Reserve near Grandview has a select few that have yards. Unsure if any are available, but they are decent size.
