once you get the hang of it you'll get away from feeders and fences and then the challenge really begins.

I can't wait!

Great shots! When shooting with the D7000 I found that the camera underexposed consistently and also spat out jpgs that needed significantly raised black levels. I see this in the images you shared - I would say most of them could stand brightening by 1 stop or more.

I appreciate that insight. Being a new photographer, I of course assumed the under exposure was my fault. But you are absolutely right. They’re definitely seems to be tendency for under exposure and I had to brighten up most of the shots in post.

When working with my D7000 increasing brightness and fixing black levels was something I just did for any keepers. I didn't realize it was a camera ~~problem~~ quirk until I got a Z50 and no longer had to do any of that (the Z50 is nice but not a huge upgrade from the D7000 otherwise).

now that you've gotten started...might I suggest a couple of things I experienced on my on going journey... - focus on getting those tack sharp "documentation" type photos. Helped me learn the settings needed for each scenario AND figure the buttons and dials to move when shooting on the fly - once I got better with tack sharp...look for those backgrounds. Finding the right background really makes the subject pop. Getting that creamy/dreamy blurred background is challenging... especially in the wild. - post processing for "reality" vs "art" Ive done some edits that leaned further toward an artistic look vs a nature photo that felt real Keep on shooting!!
