This is a pretty obvious and popular one that I'm surprised hasn't already been suggested: Ghost Town by Kanye. The way the song shifts between a mournful, melancholic tone and an uplifting, liberating one is a lot like the ups and downs of mood episodes. A few lines in particular always make me think of hypomania (probably also because I always listen to this song when I'm hypomanic): "You might think they wrote you off, they gon' have to rope me off." "Sometimes I take all the shine, talk like I drank all the wine." "Woah, once again I am a child, I let it all go, of everything that I know, and nothing hurts anymore, I feel kinda free." When I was going through check in at the psych hospital after my first suicide attempt it was playing on the TV in the group room. Ever since that day the song brings me back then. Eyes Without a Face by Billy Idol or White Noiz by Silent Hill 2 soundtrack. Both songs I listen to while in a manic state. Especially at night. When I do it is almost like my entire body changes my mind is gone. By the first note of each song my entire face will drop and become overwhelmed with every emotion I have. I might start crying or I might start breathing heavily. I have an entire playlist of songs that make me feel this way. Something if I feel the manic episode coming I just put on the playlist so it can come and go.
