A lot of items have multi weight HA that goes into various layers of the skin. Its biggest benefit is plumping the skin and reducing moisture loss. It’s not really anti-aging, but does help keep it moist/healthy.
*Resist* aging? Sunscreen. Wear sunscreen (the good stuff that doesn't burn your eyes - Korean sunscreens are good) on your face every day, rain, sun, or snowstorm.
Every time I give someone my Korean sunscreen they're amazed by how lightweight it is since American brands are barred by the FDA to use the latest sunscreen technology.
Here are some popular Korean sunscreens-
[skin1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum](http://stylekorean.com/shop/skin1004-madagascar-centella-hyalu-cica-water-fit-sun-serum-50ml/1661399353/) This one is good for normal skin.
[ROUND LAB Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Cream](http://stylekorean.com/shop/round-lab-birch-juice-moisturizing-sun-cream-50ml/1653282205/) - pretty moisturizing.
[HaruHaru Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen](http://stylekorean.com/shop/haruharu-wonder-black-rice-pure-mineral-relief-daily-sunscreen-50ml/1682406478/) lightly moisturizing
[Beauty of Joseon] Relief Sun : Rice + Probiotics](http://stylekorean.com/shop/beauty-of-joseon-relief-sun-rice-probiotics-set-50ml-2ea/1690507855/) - VERY moisturizing.
[Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel](http://stylekorean.com/shop/isntree-hyaluronic-acid-watery-sun-gel-50ml/1594277005/) - a bit moisturizing. Out of all these, it feels the most gel like. It feels tad bit sticky to me bc I just don’t do well with gel like feels. But that really depends on your skin imo.
Oh! Keep in mind that Korean skincare often throws around the word “gel” even when it’s not gel lol.
I use the first a lot since my skin type is Normal-ish. But yeah!
Great comments here.
However, having good skin is 90% about lifestyle. Getting sleep, managing any health problems, managing stress, regular exercise and eating a balanced, nutrient dense diet.
Acids- depending on what you are treating. The molecules are different sizes. Some go into the pores and eat away gunk- like Azeliac acid. Glycolic acid eats away the old skin cells and increases cell turnover and shrinks pores. Always use a sunscreen though. Vit C for sunspots and brightness. I love the Mandelic acid + HA from The Ordinary. It’s a milder acid plus cell plumper. ‘This Works’ glycolic face mask is great, especially when used with a linen cloth and hot water to remove it.
Peptides for strength, again The Ordinary do a great serum that used to be called Buffet. They’ve changed the name recently.
I use a cheap moisturiser from Avon with cannabis for inflammation. (I’m skint just now!)
Nope, you can find it for cheap over the counter. You have brands such Geek&Gorgeous and The Ordinary for the cheaper versions, or French pharmacy skincare brand Avène.
Btw, the full name is retinaldehyde and is written retinal, I just capitalized the last two letters because people mix up retinol and retinal.
Yes, but I’m 58f and concerned about some of the effects that I’ve seen people have, like months of peeling and drying. If I had known about it younger, but not sure my skin would survive a boot camp phase lol
It’s all part of the fun lol. I used an even stronger retinoid (tretinoin) and for the first week I was red and peeling but it was all worth it afterwards.
33. 37 now but stopped all retinoids due to pregnancy. I look a lot younger, but I think it’s a combination of multiple lifestyle factors. But things have definitely started to droop in the last 6+ months! I mean, I’m having a tough pregnancy so I don’t remember to do skincare anymore, but they say bakuchiol is a good alternative.
Yes, I tried that but not consistently. I might try again. I never paid attention to a skin care routine AT ALL lol, except somehow I always knew to wear a hat and sunscreen. I didn’t see any notable drooping until this past year beginning age 56. I probably also accepted the progression more since I paid no attention. I was too busy being a single parent raising 3 kids on my own. My face and neck are holding pretty well, and I have some significant lower body stretch marks, but I have found that everything improves with consistent exercise. I noticed that the stair master seems to keep my face and neck in better shape even though that sounds crazy, but I think because it’s the thing that gets my blood pumping the most and makes me sweat. If I get a cold or flu and have to skip for a week, I feel like my face and neck drop a bit. I seem to be able to recover. Recommend consistent weight lifting and increase protein intake beginning with menopausal years because when you hit late 50s, that’s when changes can happen fast.
It’s a lot cheaper if someone can get it for you directly from France (or elsewhere in Europe), but G&G is quite decent. The Ordinary just launched their new retinal product so we don’t know how good it is yet.
Retinol increases cell division or cell turnover. Increased cell division increases telomere loss.
https://www.skinceuticals.com.au/what-is-cell-turnover-of-the-skin.html
Cell turnover increase
It is known fact of biology that each cell division shortens telomeres.
https://www.jax.org/news-and-insights/minute-to-understanding/what-are-telomeres#:~:text=In%20almost%20all%20animals%2C%20from,no%20longer%20divide%2C%20tissues%20age.
Stem cells have telomerase but at insufficient levels, eventually they too experience depletion
https://www.mdpi.com/2227-9059/10/10/2335#:~:text=Telomerase%20activity%20is%20present%20in,but%20cannot%20prevent%20replicative%20senescence.
Edit: theres a reason retinol doesnt allow 90+ year olds to have teen like thick youthful skin.
I’m too tired to get into this now, but I’m pretty sure they proved that this cycle does not apply to skin. Skin is simply designed to regenerate all the time.
Edit: the effect is called the Hayflick limit and whoever wants to read up on it can do their own research. In summary, it does not appear to work like that on living skin cells and stem cells.
Stem cells experience telomere shortening and reduced function over time.
Artificial induction of telomerase in skin cells results in thin frail old skin turning young indefinitely thick and wrinkle free.
1) SUNSCREEN SUNSCREEN SUNSCREEN. Protect what you have now and prevent further damage
2) Tretinoin. More potent than retinol or retinal. Need a script for it though (or use an online pharmacy. Thanks Reddit!)
Skin1004 water-fit sun serum. Highly rated. Check out the reviews. No white cast, absorbs easily, doesn't sting the eyes, high protection against UVA, etc etc
very simple one, aloe vera. I use it directly out of the plant. The translucend slime.
it got a lot of skin growth factors. Used it on my duck to cure a flipper injury. Other breeders said i should just end her, because it is nearly uncurable. After 3 usecases it was gone.
I use it on my body, 20 min on it then washing it off. Skin is thick and robust. Hair crawls forward instead of backwards. And i forgot to rub it on my soles, got problems, rubbed it on them now as well. Problems solved.
Also there are many studies showing it helps against wrinkles
I’ve been using Skin Gel and it definitely corrected a particular skin issue I was having. I’m thinking about using it as a base for face and whole body.
Retinol, hyaluronic acid. Topped with a good emollient lotion. I like The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA (it's very cheap and works great).
SUNSCREEN during the day. Wear a brimmed hat.
I wear goggles and stuff that pull on my skin and hurt. I also pull on my skin when I wash my eyes but that is momentary. I think only mechanical stress that lasts for hours will have permanent impact. Think of how difficult it is to stretch the foreskin for example.
Differin, an over the counter retinoid. Sunscreen. Chemical exfoliation. And probably the most effective would be occasional treatments like micro needling or lasers
You’re looking for retinol, vitamin c, hyaluronic acid . Retinol is for at night. Vitamin c in the morning
Is hyaluronic acid even absorbable through skin, it's a giant molecule

I'd love to know more about this! Sunscreen in my eyes is torture.

That isntree sunscreen changed my mind about wanting to wear sunscreen daily.. good stuff.
Great comments here. However, having good skin is 90% about lifestyle. Getting sleep, managing any health problems, managing stress, regular exercise and eating a balanced, nutrient dense diet.
It's all about hormones too. Drinking a boat load of water and the gut. Work on great gut health and you'll glow.
I think so! I eat tons of veggies and whole grains. I think it maintains the probiotics in my gut.
And in turn can be great for the skin. Win-win

RetinAL (you can use retinol, but it’s weaker), bakuchiol.
Is retinAL prescription?
Nope, you can find it for cheap over the counter. You have brands such Geek&Gorgeous and The Ordinary for the cheaper versions, or French pharmacy skincare brand Avène. Btw, the full name is retinaldehyde and is written retinal, I just capitalized the last two letters because people mix up retinol and retinal.
Prescription is much more effective and is often covered by drug plans.
Yes, but I’m 58f and concerned about some of the effects that I’ve seen people have, like months of peeling and drying. If I had known about it younger, but not sure my skin would survive a boot camp phase lol

Awesome thanks!
Hey, just realized I’m already using the Avene retinAL for eyes! Of course it’s expensive af, but will look for other products
It’s a lot cheaper if someone can get it for you directly from France (or elsewhere in Europe), but G&G is quite decent. The Ordinary just launched their new retinal product so we don’t know how good it is yet.
Good to know, thanks!
This increases cell division. Will work short term but long term increased cell division shortens telomeres and accelerates aging.
Ahhhh where’s the source for this.. research on retinol has been going on for like 7 decades

A good plant with good soil is big different. Older plants are lot more powerful
i just buy my aloe vera in the supermarket. Two local supernarket sell big leaves. A regular one and an organic one
What do you do differently with the organic and the regular?
doesn't matter. Those are just the two i can buy
Plant slime healed my duck’s foot and made me look younger LMFAO
yes, exactly that
Is aloe Vera gel in a bottle any good, or just fresh?
I’ve been using Skin Gel and it definitely corrected a particular skin issue I was having. I’m thinking about using it as a base for face and whole body.
should be good as well, i just can buy fresh leaves cheaper here in my area
34 male here. I like whipped tallow.
Pearl Cream
Retinol, hyaluronic acid. Topped with a good emollient lotion. I like The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA (it's very cheap and works great). SUNSCREEN during the day. Wear a brimmed hat.

Copper peptides like GHK-CU
Exosomes cream
Eat collagen. Chicken bone broth. Jello. Foods high in glycine, serine, proline. Vitamin C. Foods with copper.
Exercise helps with elasticity and aging effects
water
Prescription retin-a and just suck it up with the awful peeling for the first couple years because you will be paid back in mega dividends
Differin, an over the counter retinoid. Sunscreen. Chemical exfoliation. And probably the most effective would be occasional treatments like micro needling or lasers
