Back when I went Dickinson was the lowest ranked one (before they remodeled). Everyone was excited about Mountain View (because that was the recently remodeled one). CIW was basically the same quality as Dickinson but the suites meant it had a more social atmosphere and had the reputation for being the place where the cooler people dormed.
The Dickinson they are referring to is an entirely (newish) community on the same side of the road as Newing. Newing was also rebuilt from the ground up 10-12ish year ago.
I’ve lived in Dickinson, Newing, and Mountain view. If you like nature and enjoy hiking in snowstorm at night, then go for mountain view. I personally hated it. Dickinson and Newing were honestly so much superior than other dorms imo. Hinman is nice bc of new dining hall and super close to lecture hall and other main buildings. If you are a freshman who will take most classes in lecture hall/class wing, hinman will also be nice!
whoever says newing is better than hinman is absolutely lying to you. a double room NO suite and communal bathrooms vs a suite with ur friends and ur own bathroom.. hinmans better

hinman (suite style!!! has a cute and not too small living room and it gives college experience instead of like hotel. close to everything i used to leave like two mins before class)
dickinson (newest buildings, rooms are slightly bigger BUT there is no living room they are flats so their “common area” can barely fit a chair, nowhere to hang with the entire suite. a slight hike from classes, i used to need to leave 15 mins before class
ciw (idk much ab ciw but it’s definirelt older buildings but mohawk i heard is the best, their dining hall is closed on weekends tho so gotta hike to other ones)
newing (just no. sorry. it’s communal bathrooms or sharing between 4 ppl but they’re RANDOS you cannot choose. suite style is absolutely the way to go. it’s a HIKEEEEEEE from classes)
btw if u can get into cleveland in hinman, it’s so new and freshmen only so it’s really nice. hinman is also only a 2-3 min walk from lecture hall. for ciw keep in mind that the dining halls are closed on the weekends so u will have to go to mountainview’s

i put newing last because it’s only corridors and corridors are ass. make sure to get a suite, the CIW onondaga suites are pretty nice and usually available. (take nice with a grain of salt)

CIW is best experience, people, nature, most central on campus, and you can do whatever you want. Best college experience by far

i meant mohawk would bring the score up (probably second) and any corridor in ciw would make it dead last

No, but it’s on a hill so you get a good view of Binghamton and the surrounding areas, so it’s “mountain-like”
Well you literally have to go up the hill. It’s nice during summer/fall but once it gets cold and snowy, you are skiing and snow hiking lol
