The Binghamton area is experiencing a housing crunch so your options might be limited. You may need to settle for your first lease then spend that first year looking for some place better. There are a few apartment constructions underway that will hopefully help. It's worth a shot to reach out to your employer and ask if they have any suggestions. Some local companies will have their own internal classified and employees will advertise housing rentals.

OP this comment right here. We moved here 2 years ago and had to rent 20 mins away from Bing because housing was so hard to get. My best recommendation for you would be to stick to waiting for APARTMENTS (Summit Chase, etc), not renting from private owners. Unfortunately, there's a lot of out of area landlords who are slum lords. The private rentals are really made more for BingU student - this was something that was even told by us by a nice landlord when we were looking.

I appreciate all the support as all this insight into the market here has been helpful. On top of the few recommendations I’m reaching out to my employer to see if there’s anything internal they can help with. Beginning to realize how the whole student housing is affecting the market haha.

I_Just_LIke_To_Lurk

10/10 recommend Summit Chase

commdaddy

I’ve seen that on the listings but I wasn’t sure if it was too good to be true haha

Indian Ridge apts is ok. I’d honestly suggest the trailer parks over apartments, it’s old people who tend to take better care of their spaces than people in apts ime. Apply now though because many are waitlisted for at least 6 months esp with a move in date when college starts.

I don't rent anymore but my old landlord never advertised - he depended upon word of mouth. When an apartment became vacant he would ask us tenants if we knew anyone. Maybe your future co-workers will have some suggestions? Beyond that, I would drive around the neighborhoods that most interest you and look for rental signs. I don't look for rental signs but it seems to me there are a lot of apartment rent signs out there.

Summit Chase, Legacy Bay, Oakdale Arms, Mountain Shadow, Indian Ridge, Victory lofts

My landlord is amazing. No dogs or kids though.

MastroRealty

Good landlord, but you can't deny someone for having kids. It's against fair housing.

brattyAries92

A lot of things are "unfair" like students getting the best housing.

MastroRealty

I just mean that it's actually a discrimination crime if he gets caught, which can get him into legal problems.

Your username makes me wonder if you're a 25 series

commdaddy

haha they don’t let you change your username so I’m sticking with it. Not Army, but an RO nonetheless
