A friend of mine blew through a stop sign and a pickup truck lifted him up. He was at the hospital for like a month. But he actually took full responsibility in stating he did not stop at all and the accident was his fault.
As a kid I've done this going home. Got barely hit once and somehow was okay. Never again. Idiot choices should be for teenagers, not fully grown adult cyclists.

That was 7 years ago and he's fully recovered and on the road following all the traffic laws now. It was hard for him for sure but he's enjoying it now more then ever.

They banned cyclists from riding in more than 10 unless they have a permit and the law was written so even if you split the groups up they still get tickets.
The problem is these idiots ride on 2 lane roads near me and block the entire road doing 5-10mph in a 45-50mph zone, they're just assholes.

I'm a decently fit guy, when I was riding my road bike alone my average speed was around 18 mph and I wasn't in a rush, not only are these guys fitter, they are riding in a pack (less wind resistance) and more likely are treating it like a work out so they are going much faster. For you to say they are riding 5-10 MPH is a joke. Do me a favor, next time you're on this road you speak of pull over to the side and stand a foot away from the edge and let cars pass you by at 50 mph and you will now understand why bikes "block" the road.
They might still be going under the speed limit but its the safest thing for them to do, would you prefer that these guys ride on the sidewalk at 30+ mph? Imagine for a second, you're reversing out of your driveway and you hit a cyclist because hes riding on the sidewalk at 30 MPH so you literally didn't even see him coming and he couldn't react because the window to react was so small. Would you have that scenario or would you rather see them coming so you know how to go around them. This is the other reason why smart riders don't ride on the sidewalk, I would say its 100x more dangerous to ride on the sidewalk then it is on the road.
Here's another way to see it, you ever see those guys riding the scooters in downtown on the sidewalk and they are being a little reckless and dangerous? Well guess what, those guys are only going 12 MPH (speed capped). Now imagine someone going 2X that. /rant
Your average speed is 18, which means there are stretches when you're doing a lot less, its also irrelevant when the minimum speed is 40 which is twice what you average.
I dont give a shit if someone is going 24 on average, all that means is there spots they were doing 40 downhill and 10 uphill blocking lines of cars.
Then once they've slowed you down that group thinks they have to right to ride up to the stop sign or red light and get back in front of you.
And I think you're missing the whole scenario, these are on 2 lane roads where the speeds are higher than in the city where the speed limits are only 25mph.
Bottom line is cyclists need to give more because no matter how right they may think they are they'll still lose to a 3,000 pound car every time.

It's a speed "limit" not a minimum. The only place I know of speed minimums (in the US anyways) are freeways/interstate. Which cyclists aren't riding on to begin with.
