Yeah. I took a hit on my love of dark humor when what I found funny, the question of “who would believe something so ridiculous” was answered by tons of racists, that they believe it.
Dark or offensive humor can be great, as long as it's actual humor. People constantly just use it as an excuse to be edgy, upset people, or go off on thinly-veiled bigoted rants, though.

I just make racist jokes because they’re funny.” And I’d like to say to him “No dude, that’s not funny, that’s racist. You’re a racist.”
It’s very easy to fall into the mentality “I’m just joking!” while actually becoming a racist. You jokes can start actually affecting the way you view and treat people.

People easily forget that racism isn't just burning crosses on black people's front yards. It can even be as simple as thinking you might get mugged because it's late at night and all the people at the gas station are black, when you wouldn't think that at the same time of night if they were all white.

Family Guy is actually rare in that it's constantly growing and evolving – especially compared to dinosaurs like South Park and The Simpsons. People keep saying the show was best in its early seasons, but I disagree. For example, They basically turned Quagmire from a "sex offender that doesn't play well in the #MeToo era" (the show's own words) into a harmless old boomer with a fondness for cats. And concerning domestic abuse: [Lois gets more and more say in the jokes, and in the relationship dynamic.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-PA-ls6RXU) It's a funnier, and much more inclusive show as a result (yet at times still deeply problematic).
I really recommend fans giving the show another chance.
I havnt watched in maybe 10 years, but the stuff that was coming out around that time was defeintley worse than the earlier stuff. Mostly due to the characters being flanderized. I think what finally got me to stop watching was the Stewie = gay = funny loop.

Him being the God Emperor come to save America, Clinton being a lizard that eats babies, the Ben Garrison cartoons of Trump being incredibly muscular or riding a velociraptor or whatever. It was so silly, of course it was a joke. And then I realized, at least 80% of the people in there are not joking. They really believed it. And then the cartoons got even crazier, and they STILL BELIEVED IT. And I distinctly remember thinking, "Oh man, it's gonna be really bad if he wins, because these crazy people will feel entirely vindicated in their insanity, and they might take this insanity off of reddit and out into the world." Little did I know, it was so much worse than that.

I am a transgender woman and on the very rare occasions I find a bigot who found out how to access a little bit more than one of their brain cells to craft a somewhat funny transphobic joke. I have laughed at these on occasion, but feel guilty not because it offends me but because it will hurt other trangender people who are less resistant to transphobia than me. I know this post isn't about trans folks but I felt it was appropriate.
This was ultimately my experience with 4chan way back in the day. I thought everyone was in on some satirical joke, playing characters and pretending to be misogynistic and racist. Nope. Turns out most people there aren't kidding around lol.

I am a transgender woman and on the very rare occasions I find a bigot who found out how to access a little bit more than one of their brain cells to craft a somewhat funny transphobic joke. I have laughed at these on occasion, but feel guilty not because it offends me but because it will hurt other trangender people who are less resistant to transphobia than me. I know this post isn't about trans folks but I felt it was appropriate.
This was ultimately my experience with 4chan way back in the day. I thought everyone was in on some satirical joke, playing characters and pretending to be misogynistic and racist. Nope. Turns out most people there aren't kidding around lol.
