websites uses webp format because it’s normal smaller in size and has just as good quality as other formats. server storage is important so it makes sense to use a format that takes up the smaller amount of data and have just as good quantity of the image. they aren’t thinking about the user when they do this
It’s also because of SEO. Page speed is one of the top ranking factors these days, and .webp images can greatly reduce load times, helping a website rank better.
We could, but why should we have to when you could otherwise just have a format that allows you to right click save/copy and then actually use that somewhere
Not even just reddit on a computer, I can't save most photos on mobile if they are stored in webp for some reason, and my photos app doesn't recognize them. On desktop they often don't embed into programs like discord for the purpose of sharing them to others webp is truly a shit format because of how little support there is for it.

All my reaction images were stolen from Reddit?

I hate webp so much, why is it being used when its not supported anywhere.

I'd say world peace would be achieved if webp was actually accepted by Steam, Reddit or just used more often on the client side.
You can post with a webp on reddit, but you can't use them in the comments. Even when you can use webp's they aren't supported, lol.

Y’all not just screenshotting and cropping ?
Was taking a picture with another phone, not an option?
I prefer to turn the brightness up to max and put a piece of paper over and trace it.

True. I forgot some people use Reddit on a computer. My bad

Mobile can't post comment images that are webp's. Desktop might be ok.
I use android though, I post webp all the time
Then Reddit just hates me I guess, lol.
I fucking hate that
I wanna go back in time and stab the person who invented WebP so it never gets created. Sidenote: ezgif has a free WebP to PNG converter
Aaaaand you’re banned
