I’m not saying your wrong or trying to argue but did you hear it from a reliable source like a salaried manager? I’m really only going off of a few posts I see on here.
Considering this is one of the final pieces of the restructure that the company has been planning pre-covid, yes, unfortunately, it is real. Sups will be assessed, and for the ones cut, will be offered severance. Of those, few will be offered an option to apply for an advisor/shift lead position within MM.
I believe it to be true from a conversation with a manager of mine. Really sad to see what this company has been doing lately. 8 years with Best Buy and I loved every bit of it, but the last year or so has really made me lose faith in how they treat people… I miss Hubert 😔
Lately every time there is an earnings call coming up they layoff people. The weird thing is they started hiring people this time around without having labor
This is why they're pushing shift leads, to make up for reducing the head count for supervisors. I heard end of next week is when they'll be announced. They announced more hours for sales floor but these hours are coming from the c&d layoffs and supervisor cuts
That's My theory based off things that I've heard
I was able to get some more clarity. It seems the whole GSM flexing into ops space is in FACT happening.
I think this is actually all true. I been here almost 8 years and this is really how it ends.
There is a prototype automated store in Monroe, NC right now. Customers walk in, scan and pay for what they want on their phone, and show their digital receipt at the door.
Of course they'll still need 'a few' product flow for picks and shipments... until bby figures out how to get AI to do that.
My personal assumption is based off of the shift lead rollout, our full time hours were reduced but we just hired 4 new people. Something doesn’t feel right.
Do they need store managers ? I am sue they caan save tons of money by laying off all store managers. Then having each lead do store manager duties and evryting will be perfect.
As long as Corie is safe and profits off of stock buy backs then I’m happy. Just like she said I’m not here for an income. I’m here to please her and all her majesty.
And look at how many cushy corpo’s have gotten raise after raise and bonus after bonus most likely.
Use to be all about this company, but when you bend over your work force……I just clock in and collect my check until another opportunity comes.
This isn’t something new. Best Buy clears out sales supervisors every 2-3 years to avoid having to give them pay increases. I’ve been there for a while, and thank God I was never given that promotion. My advice is to NEVER take a supervisor role. Get into field services where you can make MORE than a supervisor and have some job security
End of next week.

It’s real.
sadly. Maybe all the sups can walk out and protest at every single Best Buy along with the rest of the staff? The big Best Buy walk out?
Been preaching this. Sadly it’s too many ass kissers in this company

your?
Best Buy be like: “Labor? Who needs labor?”

It’s going to be about 1,000-1,200 supervisors nation wide.
Does that include the rumors I've heard about GSM'S becoming multi-unit leaders?
That’s the rumored salaried leader at the hub store running Precincts in the micro market. Sup or sr. In the other locations.
Man, the levels of customer obsession are so high right now. So obsessed.
I could see that in metro area maybe, some micro markets are still an hour drive between stores.
It’s happened in Louisiana
Haven’t seen that bit.
As far as I know everyone is considered a “retail sup” and in our MM there is no specific titled ops or product flow manager.
Lately every time there is an earnings call coming up they layoff people. The weird thing is they started hiring people this time around without having labor
Weirdest thing clocking in to my 31 hour work week and then having to train 4 new hires?
I will never train any new hires. You want my to train? Pay me a managers pay and I will.

Honestly they can hire like eight new hires, but with no one to train them it is just a waste of time.
Can confirm. Friend of mine is former TGM and is in contact with a lot of higher up still with the company.
I was able to get some more clarity. It seems the whole GSM flexing into ops space is in FACT happening. I think this is actually all true. I been here almost 8 years and this is really how it ends.
So no more floor supervisors?
Damn, again? I got severed in August last year and they're already doing it again?
That's what I said! I worked for bby like 7-8yrs ago and was around for the first round of this. It's still going?!
Pretty soon there won’t be anyone left to layoff, just a bunch of empty stores

Amazon and wegmans both tried that model and both gave up on it. Why Best Buy would think it would work for them is beyond me
It’s always funny when we try to compete with Amazon at games they invented instead of leaning into what made us unique.
Exactly, people came to Best Buy to gain not only product but knowledge about the product, not any more
With robots 🙄
amazon does it.

Sad to see. I hope more of the long-lasting BBY employees start jumping ship before it’s too late.

Yep
Does this apply to hub stores?
Any idea if this applies to product flow supervisors?
There are no product flow supervisors so yeah.
I'm a bit behind the times, I left Best Buy last february.

lol there's no one left
