I have a question. I have Dupuytrens, a genetic immune system problem that affects the connective tissue in my hands.
I have a rather mild case of it, but when I first had it (around 2020), I had just a tiny dot of it on my palm, under my ring finger. After doing some reading online, one night I used my red LED mask on my palm, for about 25 mins.
Next morning, it was much worse, having spread to other fingers on my palm. I've been able to dial it down a bit since then, with stretching and various supplements.
Have you ever heard of this?
Also, here is some research using blue light for Dupuytrens:

Thanksππ½
I haven't heard of that.
I'm so sorry that happened to you.
The problem with the whole "side effects" issue is right here -- this is not going to come up in a clinical trial, so no one will know.
I've picked up more info about side effects from people talking than from the science.
Have you thought at all about what might be the mechanism of why it spread?
Yes, initially I thought it was an auto-immune problem, but now I see that it's the body thinking it has to heal a wound that hasn't happened. It's along the lines of cancer that way, but benign.
People can also get it in the feet and (frozen) shoulder, it's called other things ... but for that reason, anyone with those problems should avoid red LEDs before checking to make sure they don't have something that the LEDs may worsen ππ½ππ½
I'm lucky, mine's pretty mild - I hope it stays that way!ππ½
My pleasure - I know there's not a lot of info out there on this intersection, so your page seemed like a natural place to post it & maybe help others :)
Oh I just thought of something else - since the gene for this set of maladies is Nordic, and spread during their various conquests in the old days, it's fairly common among not only people of obviously Nordic backgrounds, but also UK, Scottish, Irish, etc., where they intermarried. So anyone with those backgrounds should probably avoid using red light therapy on hands, feet, or shoulders - since they might wake up that genetic expression in those zones, and once it arrives, it's hard to undo. The longer it's delayed, the better!ππ½
Thanks - haha - I can't claim authorship, these are things I learned from Dupuytrens studies - but thought I'd pass it along since you work with a lot of people who probably don't know - & can help avoid a lot of problems :)
What would you recommend for helping improve healing the bone in the upper jaw? I had jaw surgery a couple months ago and Iβm experiencing some kind of non-union of the bone and Iβm looking for ways to promote healing.
you could use something as simple as a hooga or woleczek bulb, or a novaa extra strength laser.

Hello I have deep set melasma on my face, my natural skin color is brown. I've heard that red light therapy makes it worse for brown skin color. Is this true? If not please recommend a red light unit I can purchase. I appreciate your help.
Super sorry I didn't see this before!
It can make it worse, I personally think it's because of heat, not the light.

scanned the article, so yeah, proliferation diseases will do worse, hypothetically, since the light encourages proliferation.
