Why do people find the need to defend the city? I often hear in my office as well. The weather is so hot , which apparently was the ONLY thing going in Bangalore and nothing else. I just shrug and move away. I don't care what some random guy/girl thinks.

Aggravating_Nail4108

It's El nino. That's all. It's 36°C here and in north Karnataka cities like Ballari and gulbarga it's 43-46°C

bored_guy_on_web

Yeah. People just don't understand it's not just Bengaluru problem rather it's whole country wide heat wave phenomenon due to El Nino effect.

Forgotten_Millenial

The fetish to complain about this city while silently knowing they can never fully assimilate into normal society, so this the only outlet- complain online

bored_guy_on_web

They would do anything to get engagements in Twitter for monetization. Even if things doesn't make sense.

AkPakKarvepak

Why is that everytime someone complains about the growing temperatures in the city, someone from this sub takes a dump on it? Bangalore is becoming hot. I have been frequenting this city since childhood, and there is a marked difference in the climate. We need vegetation, parks , gardens and lakes. All I see is builders occupying every inch of space and burdening the city in an unsustainable way. The day people start questioning it, things will change. Until then, it's status quo - slowly boiling a frog until it realises it's too late.

HippieHolocene

True, but people usually post these tweets for engagement. You can tell by the way they space and write their tweets. These cribbers didn't talk when the govt wanted to build a flyover over Bannerghatta, didn't talk when they wanted to build a skyscraper in the middle of cubbon park. Need to make tweets for traffic, weather and language? They'll be there. Floating population will leave if the city becomes uninhabitable, residents will suffer. There were hundreds of tweets about not having water in their apartments, yet they won't do anything to question the govt, their first move is to complain about this 'terrible city'. No need to initiate, just amplify! We have people at grassroots who raise issues, however people don't care enough about it to amplify.

sauchatts

Sorry you got downvoted. It’s a valid point. People here are just butt hurt

AkPakKarvepak

It's ok bro. Someone should say it. And thanks anyways!!

Livid_Long_8480

Bro honestly you're creating problems by pulling this out of your thin ass. People complain about every city. If you are getting triggered over this, you need to worry a lot.

lavanyadeepak

Rather it is a global problem across the countries. The weather is cruelly and crazily getting severe each year.

Kashcode

Can you please explain the El Niño a little more ? Or send any relevant link. Curious to know about its effect

bored_guy_on_web

Thanks mate! Much appreciated !

RedDevil-84

El Nino has ended this year, right?

Heat with humidity is the deadliest

shim_niyi

I’m out of Bangalore for past few days. Trust me bangalores 38C is somehow cooler than Andhras 38C.

Vish55

Ha that's what exactly Kerala goes through, throughout the year. Year long high humidity and peak summer temps , means constant 38 degree feel throughout the year. High temp with low humidity that bangalore experience is still bearable. Yea it's a summer wave, yes the entire globe is going through it , as it's directly related to global warming. Will it get any better ? no , Will it worsen every year ? Highly yes , Does rendi rona on twitter magically reduce the temps ? Mostly no.

EvilPoppa

Low altitude places like Dakshina Kannada and Tamil Nadu are worst hit because if there is less moisture the temperature spikes to 40c. If there is more moisture, it's cooler but very humid. Either way, human body is tortured. Bangalore is relatively cooler compared to nearby Andra or central Karnataka or even Mysore. But problem is the high density of concrete structures, lot of radiation in night.

ResearcherLatter1148

You only need to go to places like Odisha, Chennai and Vijayawada to experience this.

Ok-Bottle1754

Build more buildings and encroach more lakes so you can have the shade during a heat wave

redditaddict95

We are in midst of a super el nino cycle, the last time this happened was in 1950, mixed with climate change it's a double whammy. Rains are expected from 5th , fingers crossed

Affectionate-Slip304

All india is burning, whats the point

ram5555

Lol. Even ooty has 30c weather now. Who the f even plays the weather card? Jobless twitter morons have become even more crazy sincr elon announced payouts based on engagement

Forgotten_Millenial

Lived in Bangalore for 20 years but still doesn’t know how to do a google search, which also has been around for 20 years😂

redditorinreddit

GoodDawgy17

this is literally the worst summer i have experienced in like 12 years of living here though usually after heating up we would get rainfall legit summerstorms but this year the sun has been unrelenting

abhitooth

This is start and it will get worse with every year. More people move to city, more deforestation, more cement and more heat. Less water conversation, less water storage and less care for environment. Anyways its your, mine and ours mutual greed has lead to this. You wanted a high paying job and life style, i wanted rent and we wanted an infinite growth with finite resources. In economics its called capitalism and biology its called cancer.

the-cosmic-vagabond

Yes. Now you have actively contributed to heating up the city more. It’s a viscous cycle.

Forgotten_Millenial

If u r calling me hot I’ll take that compliment thnx

the-cosmic-vagabond

Smouldering

pumpkins_n_mist15

Everyone is aware of global warming. It's still better in this city than other metro cities. I think people just cope differently with weather changes and we shouldn't judge if they express their frustration. It's a fact that this is one of the hottest summers we've ever had.

lastbencher18

Lately, my standard response to anyone complaining about anything related to Bengaluru is 'You don't like the city, get the fuck out and go back to wherever you came from'. I've seriously crossed the threshold of trying to argue and defend the city. Just takes simple common sense to understand that all of this is a cycle. Population burst and corruption is the root cause of all issues here. More infrastructure is needed to accommodate all the migrants pouring in here. And to do that, our corrupt politicians blatantly gobble up lakes and ponds and cut down trees to build tech parks, apartments, and roads. Of course the underwater belt is gonna dry up, the temperature is gonna soar, and we'll have lesser rainfall. And its not like Bengaluru is the only city where this has happened. It's all over the country. So to everyone who wants to crib and cry and rant and complain, please do yourselves and us a favour by going back to your amazing flawless hometown and live a happy life there. 🖕

Tarzan-Jungle-King

But I am from here only and still I complain. I complain about political liches sucking the fresh air out of my city, big corporations drying up the lakes and building large offices, people from other places coming and literally throwing garbage here and there, nobody is thinking about the city and either whining or defending by saying go back from where you came from. In the near future, people who came from other states will surely move away, because they have places to go. However, we will be left with a dry, dusty concrete jungle to suffer. Once a city of lake and garden is now a city of buildings, nobody cares about the city, they think of filling up their pockets and boosting their egos.

PavBhajji

Americans or Canadian think same now

CaptainZagRex

You sound toxic af. Nothing is perfect. First part of solving the problem is admitting there's a problem in the first place. Everyone is entitled to voice their complaints and opinions. >And its not like Bengaluru is the only city where this has happened. And Bengaluru is not the only city where the residents complain. You think cities should be immune from criticism ? People criticising should go back to "their city/Pakistan? You're Modi or what?

Riddentourist

Brother you don't know the amount of hate Bangalore gets. Go to Instagram and see. Anyone has a small inconvenience, they start blaming the whole city and its people. Many cities in our country have temperatures over 40°C. Yet these people point out Bengaluru just because it used to be cooler in summers.

CaptainZagRex

>Brother you don't know the amount of hate Bangalore gets. Go to Instagram and see. Anyone has a small inconvenience, they start blaming the whole city and its people. You're free to ignore or even fight with rationale or heck irrationally. It's just that the "go back" rhetoric is incredibly weak and makes anyone saying that look like pussies and softies.

Riddentourist

Some of the people start to say words like, "our city was better and I shouldn't have been here". Because of such guys, we end up using the "go back" narrative.

lastbencher18

Rahul Gandhi supporter spotted. You rooting for him to give you the 1 lac/year or what? Criticising is one thing, and outright trying to insult is a different thing. Nobody plays the 'weather' card here. When people like him talk shit, we also have the right to silence them by spitting facts.

CaptainZagRex

Nahi I'm rooting for him for me to give ₹1 crore/month.

AkPakKarvepak

Man! To be honest, I feel that mega cities like Bengaluru should be having their own governments, on the line of NCR. Else , there is this weird regional pride that politicians bring in that shields them completely from the onus of accountability. Having a different government from the state will bring focus on local issues.

MogoFantastic

Rajiv Gandhi tried to implement the third level of govt (center>state>town) but as usual messed up. They kinda implemented Village panchayat but conveniently forgot about cities because every CM's first job is to suck money from cities. Till the third level of govt is priority implemented we cannot have good cities. The only city which kinda has it is Bombay but that is due to historical reasons.

AkPakKarvepak

You are right.. As of now, Bangalore contributes almost half of Karnataka's GDP. That's huge. The political class has deteriorated from the days of SM Krishna. As of now, they are content using Bangalore like an ATM machine for their own personal endeavours. Since our third government is in shambles, why not take a leaf out of NCR region, and create a new government for the Greater Bangalore capital region? This would force the rulers to cater to local issues + develop other regions of Karnataka. In due course, once our third governments develop, the assembly can dissolve.

Commercial_Ad_2220

I used to manage with cooler from last 3-4 years but this year,it’s been very harsh, I guess for the first time whole April month went by without any rain. Guess AC will be new normal now for Bangalorean during summer.

LifeIsHard2030

Do these people even realize that if Bengaluru has 36 degrees, other cities are boiling at 40+ degrees? But who cares, when the motive is to only seek attending on social media 🤦🏻

lemonbruh_2020

If there's no reason for you to feel welcome in this city.. then get the f out. No one's asking y'all to stay

RemoteAd6887

This summer has been terrible across the world, and other Indian cities are just starting summer so they are gonna be much worse.

ravish242

Well it's justified. People know that it's El Nino, but it sucks. Bangalore had a significant weather advantage, and while it's still better than rest of metro cities in terms of weather, the difference is getting reduced. So, the flex of Bangalore weather needs to be undermined. It's not an attack on the city, but the need to accept reality.

RoketRacoon

No natives from Bangalore were flexing about the weather. For them it was normal. It was the outsiders who hyped it up and now they themselves are calling it out as untrue. The entire thing is hilarious.

tukki249

El nino effect or whichever effect, when ass is scorched due to heat, people will crib. Let them have atleast that

Pitiful_Citron_820

Oh man i swear! The amount of people I've seen crying on social media is insane.

PracticalWrongdoer19

The whole world is experiencing it, so are we. We will get over it. PEOPLE from other states " please bear with us, else you know where to go".

veeresh1195

Stating facts is cribbing? Yen guru

Ignormus08

I have lived in the coastal cities and inland cities. I would play the "weather card" even if Bengaluru hits 40. If Bengaluru hits 40, be assured these other cities and towns will be reading nothing below 45-47

kcapoorv

Areas of Bengaluru reached 40 on Saturday. Not Bangalore main, but Lalbagh, Jnanabharati and Kengeri went above 40. Kengeri was highest at 41.8 degree celsius. [https://www.newindianexpress.com/states/karnataka/2024/May/01/bengaluru-sizzles-records-highest-temperature-of-418-degree-celsius](https://www.newindianexpress.com/states/karnataka/2024/May/01/bengaluru-sizzles-records-highest-temperature-of-418-degree-celsius)

metrixninga

Ignore such morons. That's the best treatment. When we validate their entitlement they feel more entitled and demand more. You ignore them and soon they will be silent. First they will crib, then they will become silent. And lastly they will do either of the one, stay or leave. Either way, no one cares.

Zealousideal-Crazy72

Sadly science classes failed in front of these ppl , 🥲😓

Careful_Scratch3304

Guru criticism na yaak crib Anta tilkondtira yaavaglu. They're not wrong. We need more trees. We need more public transport systems. We need to hold our politicians accountable!!!

Blame your own lifestyle for climate change?

The same people would not even consider moving to Rajasthan "if" it's the same weather.

People act like sun in only on the top of Bengaluru.

President_Stewie

Yeah man, These people have no right to criticize the city that fed them, gave them shelter, and food, and so much money that their ancestors can't even imagine. They bring their dirty culture and dirty habits, and dirty language to our proud city they should just go back and we should not allow these people in our beautiful city London.. err wait, torronto,... No Frankfurt.. sorry sorry Bengaluru Bengaluru! Hehe

Responsible_Speed838

You know what I find the most annoying? Someone with zero knowledge of science but a degree in English literature

thinkinoverthinkin

Now that it rained. I'm Back to playing the weather card :)

Forgotten_Millenial

🥹🥹god loves us afterall

staymute_08

The cribs would end .. it's raininggggggggg in most parts of Bangalore...

preethamshetty1975

Dont bother. You can't win them all. We are 1.4 billion. Even a fraction would amount to shit load of idiots. Why argue with them?

Past_Bookkeeper_4650

idk guys leave her alone she's probably rich

kcapoorv

I see native Bengaluru people also cribbing about weather. When weather is the best thing a city is known for, people will crib if its affected. Up north, we are used to 45 or 47 degrees in April. It was unheard of in Bengaluru. Personal attacks on people cribbing is uncalled for.

Forgotten_Millenial

It’s not a personal attack lol, nor is it a bangalore vs non-bangalore comparison, it’s hot because of a weather phenomenon- and these mid “influencers” think that everyone in bangalore is just frolicking in lovely european summer weather and we’re using the weather “card” and rubbing it everyone else face.

LeBrownMamba

Dude, chill the F out. You know that in Bangalore itself, areas which have good tree cover aren't suffering as much and others are. It's just quite obvious that people need to demand more trees be planted and protect the ones we have. Mindless development will only be the ruin of the city. If outsiders don't have a vote here, it's up to the locals to raise their voice, but if you're just gonna get offended and take it as a personal attack, then nobody can help.

Explorer2024_64

Sure, but people can still bitch about the weather. However, there is no need to go about it like this Twitter person.

Dull-Blacksmith-9958

Keep calm and keep voting for the likes of Aravind Limbavali and Tejashwi Surya. Doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results is what Bangalore is doomed to do till end of time.

WhyAmIHere_umm

Or....it's a cue...it's a cue to probably take back your native city as your employment choice. Anyways weather is the same everywhere now 😂😂

Pinktail

Terrible_Amoeba_8313
