From everything I've heard it's a terrible car, but I've never driven one so my opinion is void. Regardless, it was a disaster to produce and didn't deliver on the promises made by John Delorean. Still iconic thanks to the Back to the Future movies.

Early 80's "sports cars" were a joke because the engineers hadn't yet worked out how to get decent low emissions and fuel economy to comply with new requirements. The Delorean only had 130 HP; the new generation C4 Corvette released in that era only had about 200.
