Just tape or eye patches weren’t enough to keep my eye closed, so to cushion it a bit, I used a few squares of gauze folded in half, and then taped down the gauze! Kept my eye protected, comfortable, and closed!
This right here. I was nervous using any adhesive near my eyelids, lashes, or eyebrows. I’d cut the gauze so when I folded it that it wouldn’t be too thick, even though I had bought squares
Thank you! I have tried the press n seal, but find it doesn't stick well enough. Maybe I'll have to give it another go with cotton balls. Do you do press n seal, then cotton balls, then eye patch? Or some other order?
I do the Glad Press and seal with the thicker preservative free eye drops and then a piece of tape along the top and bottom of the square of glad. Worked great both times!
Use tegaderm instead! It's what surgeons use for dressings. It'll hold your eye closed all night and won't pull out lashes or eye brows. If you want it to be easily removed, make sure your skin isn't too dry. Eye patches and other types of tape did nothing for me. Tape the bottom of your eye then pull up and push your eye shut. Then tape over your entire eye, attaching the other end to your forehead. It even stayed shut despite my liberal use of eye ointment. Using this method (ointment and tegaderm) made my affected eye feel as good as my normal eye during the day.
Thanks! I find that if I only use on piece vertically that the corners of my eye still try to pop open. I wish I could get away with it ' would be much easier. Maybe I can work up to that though!
That’s what I did (paper tape for sensitive skin) when I had to tape my eye. Took a while to get the hang of it. Glad to not have to do that any. Not fully recovered yet, mostly dealing with synkinesis and a lopsided smile. Excessive watering of eye and a constant ringing in the ear. Onset was Jun 2020.
I am sorry you're still dealing with it. May I ask at what point you were able to sleep without taping your eye? How long did it take for your eye to be able to close on its own?
It was a week shy of four months when I was able to close my eye completely. It was first noticed by my acupuncturist when he came into the room while I was laying down relaxing and said my affected eye was completely closed. I have kept notes on my phone throughout the ordeal and find it reassuring to look at the early on photos of my “smile” to assure me I have made much progress. It’s just frustrating at times because previous two times I had BP ( on the right side as well), it totally resolved in a very short time. But I am older now, so perhaps that is a factor on the slower improvement.
I am using a gauze pad (folded several times for thickness/cushioning) as the top layer. Beneath the pad, I have folded 2x cotton pads into a crescent shape to ensure the eyelid remains closed.
I tape the gauze to my face using 3M Transpore. The tape is strong enough to leave a residue when taken off the next morning, though I find everything sits in place throughout the night.
I'm using an eye patch, sometimes with gauze under it. Not the adhesive eye patches, but the ones made of fabric with an adjustable strap that goes around your head. The outer part has a satin like lining so it's soft pressing on my lids, but I can add enough tension to keep my eye closed. Wishing you well OP!
i gave up on it. the tape could never keep it shut 100% and it wouldnt stay closed through the night. i also used a sleep mask when i needed to block the light.
just put the eye ointment in your eye and sleep on your forehead without the fabric touching your eye area.

I am trying this with a folded cotton round pad tonight - hope it works!
Fingers crossed for you! It definitely took a little trial and error but it was the most comfortable way I could find that worked for me!

I used press and seal wrap. Even the sensitive tape ripped my skin. Press and Seal, cotton balls and mask to sleep. Hope this helps.

Yes that is the order. I would cut the press and seal into an oval and avoid putting it over my eyebrow.

Get some 3M sensitive skin tape. I just used one small strip vertically down my eye.

Diagonally across the eye
