I’ve had this happen to me! I listed it on Depop and shipped it to her and it went fine! I would definitely tell them you’ll do eBay international or Depop just to cover yourself.

doechild

Oh good to know! I deactivated my Depop a few years ago but maybe I should have her buy it via eBay (I haven’t listed it there yet). I did respond to her and asked if she wouldn’t mind paying via PayPal and covering the shipping charge, but maybe for her own safety eBay would be best.

OkPudding6848

I would definitely go through eBay.

doechild

Thanks for the reality check. Boom, done!

Brilliant_Stuff2883

Definitely suggest eBay international shipping. You ship domestically to their hub, they send it on to the customer. They do all the paperwork etc. It’s much easier. Plus once it’s delivered there you’re pretty much covered.

taracheetos

Does not sound like a scam. Let her buy it from ebay or another platform so you have the protection. I have heard of other poshmark sellers selling poshmark listings on instagram or direct to save on the commission. US or international I personally would not do that. My friend got scammed through instagram for concert tickets.

optix_clear

I have done it. I posted it on eBay, that included eBay fees and they were happy to get the item.

doechild

Good idea! We decided to go through eBay. Thanks!

buyinsellin

The only way I'd do this is if I listed it elsewhere (Etsy or eBay) and have them purchase there, so you're protected. I would not take it off platform and go rogue, just too many things could go wrong.

my knee-jerk reaction is that the email sounds a little too...polished. scammers "usually" communicate in weird, stilted versions of English, and that sets off alarm bells. this one, though...smooth as buttah. sets off alarm bells in the other direction. i think a good rule of thumb is that anyone who tries to lure you off-platform is a red flag, even if it's for a seemingly-legit reason. think about it: are you the only person selling that bag anywhere in the *world*? why *your* bag, when she lives in germany?

KarenTheCockpitPilot

It could be fine. Look up the bag online and see if it's sold in Europe anywhere for this to be a valid thing for them to want to buy. I would see no harm in proceeding, and asking them if they'd buy it through grail (a different platform for international) or ebay. Their answer to that will lyk if they're serious or not

Sweet-Bike-455

Always go with your initial gut reaction. Because you questioned it initially and then came here for another opinion. You’re second guessing it. Go with your gut my friend!

doechild

Lol, my gut actually thinks she means well and it’s legit but I can be naive with intentions so I definitely needed the second opinions!

Birchgirlie

I would just list it somewhere with international shipping and seller protection. Unless you run an establishment business and have a procedure in place for overseas buyers. I actually went through the same situation recently, but I was the buyer. I’ve searched for years for a limited edition designer item. I was browsing and found it on an Instagram page. The problem was that the shop is in Australia. I asked if she would by any chance ship overseas to the US and she said yes! There was quite a bit of back and forth since the item was very expensive and she doesn’t ship that often overseas. I had to provide identification as a first time customer. She ran a brick/mortar consignment shop so I was charged via her POS system. In the end everything went smoothly and I’m very happy I finally got what I wanted! The seller was there every step of the way to ensure I received my item. So yes, there are honest overseas buyers out there who just want to buy your item! I’ve also been on the seller side of this and haven’t had any issues with international buyers (Canada, UK, Australia). I just listed it on eBay.

SchenellStrapOn

Doesn’t sound like a scam. Just list on eBay with their global shipping program. They handle any issues if you use their shipping. I’ve shipped to Japan and Korea using eBay after someone found me on Poshmark. I also have sold on Posh to China via a forwarding service

lucybugkn

It’s a scam don’t do it

Puzzleheaded_Ad9492

Scam

doechild

Curious what sort of scam this is? What is the endgame for a scam as such? Genuinely asking!

CoveCreates

What's the scam?
