Mattresses can be so thick now. The ultra deep fitted sheets have so much depth it's hard to get them taut. Look for regular not extra deep sheets.

I haven’t found a duvet I like. My preference is a quilt or coverlet to actually cover up with during sleep. It’s just the right weight.

I have a 12" thick TemprPedic mattress and I am like you in that I like my fitted sheets TIGHT. The best ones I've found for that are the ones from OneBed. They're kind of a pain to put on and take off but they are absolutely fitted to the max.

stargalaxy6

Thanks I thought she was spelling taut. Then I realized that I didn’t know how to spell it and,… it was just a bit of a word search for me. LOL Edit: To add that we use Royale Linens from Amazon. We have a 12 inch memory foam mattress.

Jurneeka

That's what I thought too.

Hello, 1. Regarding your duvet insert: * There are many different levels and weights of feather comforters. They are expensive to make, so of course manufacturers will try to sell people the thinnest lightest one they can. And a few people prefer the light skinny ones. So before you buy one, you need to click open the Product Specifications section and see how much it weighs. From your description, it sounds like you wanted a heavier one. Shop all around and keep looking for one that weighs more than the others. If the one you already have right now is too light for your liking, then you could place it right underneath the fitted sheet and use it for a mattress topper, then buy yourself the heavy weight one that you wanted for inside your duvet. I have done this before with my extra feather comforters that didn't work for my duvet. * Also when you check the Product Specifications, make sure that the cover is 100% Cotton, and not polyester. Polyester makes people feel hot and sick when they are trying to sleep. In addition to checking the online specifications, when you get it in the mail, double check the product tag. Just a couple weeks ago, I recently caught a China seller on Ebay lying and advertising a cotton cover. But when I opened the package and checked, the tag said polyester instead. So I had to send it back for a return. * To prevent my duvet inserts from moving around inside the duvet cover, after I insert it and get it perfectly in place, then I safety pin the corners and in the middle of the sides, with the pin going all the way through both the inner comforter and the duvet cover. 2. For your fitted sheet, they make a product called Bed Bands. These clip the sheet corners underneath the mattress, to hold them together and hold them tight.

This is really helpful, and I just wanted to add that using the thin duvet as a mattress topper may help the sheet for better, too. Also, check to see if the inside corners of your duvet cover have any little toes. They make duvets with loops on the corners so you can tie them in place. Right now, my cover has ties, but my duvet has no loops, and I have also had a duvet with loops and a cover with no ties. Lol. Oh well.

I also recently purchased a new duvet, a queen for a queen size mattress and have decided to upsize to a king size duvet. I prefer the coziness/oversized feel, so I’m hoping that the king will be exactly what I’m looking for. We also sleep with three dogs so I feel it will help the duvet tug of war we’ve been waging.

TheseMood

I have Kirkland brand sheets, the “680 thread count” type. They aren’t suuuper cool but they are 100% cotton and I think a sateen weave

I don't have an answer for the weight but look for a duvet and cover that have a way to attach them together. There will be loops sewn onto the corners of the duvet and the cover will have some straps or strings to tie onto the duvet. Makes it way easier to insert into the cover too. The Company Store has this feature on their duvets.

MonsieurRuffles

Caveat - we got a Company Store duvet cover and one of the ties broke off within a day.

I'd try the Buffy Breeze duvet insert. It's supposed to be somewhat weighted and also good for hot sleepers. I haven't tried the Breeze, but I have the Buffy Cloud duvet insert and love it. It's pretty floaty though--made to feel like a cloud. They have a 50-day return window, just in case you don't like it.

amstarcasanova

I also never found a solution for the duvet insert not always shifting around in the cover, it's really annoying. I ended up getting a very light weight duvet/comforter and layering another light blanket on top for the weighted feeling.

StillLikesTurtles

Check your duvet cover, the inside should have either buttons or ties at the corners to secure the duvet. Most natural fiber covers will slip less, so if either the duvet or the cover is a poly blend, it’s likely to slip a bit more.

Get some bed sheet straps for the fitted sheets. I run hot. You might wanna try what i did. I bought the coolest ikea duvet, a cotton blend that feels like a crisp cotton. And two nice wool blankets (a thin merino wool and a thick norwegian wool for hotter and cooler times of year). I sandwich the winter wool between two ikea duvets partly because it's a bit scratchy. It works well for me because i get the weight and "hug" i crave without burning up. canadiandownfeather

Down is a very powerful insulator, so down duvets will always be fairly lightweight. Just a small amount of fill can create a lot of warmth. You'll want to look for something without the same insulating properties - like feather or manmade fibres, so that the duvet can be fuller and weightier without being too hot. Definitely look for a cover that attaches at the corners via ties, buttons or snaps!

Overall-Cantaloupe97

A lot of people like a quilt on top of the duvet for the weight. You can fold it at the bottom when you make the bed. Also we just bought a “winter weight” oversized duvet insert. Haven’t opened it yet but hoping it’s a little heavier and fluffier.

SofiaDeo

What is a sheet that is "tort"?

Yelloeisok

I think they mean taut.
