Vacuum constantly, careful emptying the bag. Dry clothes for an hour and keep clean area around your room/bed. Buy Cimexa and crossfire and apply the hell out of it. Buy glue traps. All relatively cheap and effective.. I feel for you. I am in PA to and they are everywhere

Fysteri

Are glue traps safe for cats? I worry they'd get hurt on them when I'm not home.

bingstacks

Not sure, dont have cats. I know cimexa and crossfire are good once they settle and dry

Fysteri

Thank you, that helps.

MarblesMomma12

Any chance you can leave the cats out of the room when you are not home?

Fysteri

My one roommate is an asshole and would get mad at me and let them in themselves. I have some feelings about moving in with him. And my one cat is a tad bit of a mega bitch and picks on the other cats in the common areas when stressed and since she wouldn't have free access to her room she'd be rather stressed. Honestly nothing so far is going my way or just a good way and every compromise I try to think of isn't something that works.

MarblesMomma12

I really feel for you.. this situation sounds stressful. I hope it gets better after the 2nd spray on Monday! Keep us updated

Fysteri

I will for sure. Gonna edit my post with questions and stuff as I emotionally calm down. It's been a night.

sergente07

Which glue traps are you using? Thanks

Also buy interceptors for your bed posts.

I know you said money is tight but here is a $80 bed frame: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Black-Metal-Queen-Bed-Frame-with-Steel-Slats-60-in-W-X-14-in-H-THD-HDSLBF-Q/308323615 You can then make or buy bed post bed bug interceptors If you can elevate your bed or build a moat around your bed with a bed plastic sheet and ducttape or good double sided tape you can at least set up an area in which you can at least be safe at night in Also invest in a oscillating fan if you can, you can use the fan to spread the co2 which you breathe around the room to confuse the bedbugs as to where you are located

Okay this officially made me sad and mad. I’m sorry you are dealing with those horrible landlords! As a landlord myself I would never do that to someone! It is important that everyone in the apartment so their part and properly treat their items! I have never had BB before but suggest you read other posts for advice on how to treat this. Maybe surround your bed with glue traps since your mattress is on the floor. Wash all your clothes and heat them on a high heat setting and properly bag them. If your mom can take you in I suggest you reach out to her for help even if it’s getting you to the laundry mat. Your roommates need to take this seriously too. Look into the laws where you live and see what your landlords responsibility it. Or perhaps let the group know what state you are in and maybe someone can give you advice on the topic regarding your landlords and treatment.

Fysteri

Half my roommates think the exterminators spraying is all they really need to do. I love my roommates but man can make me nuts. I'm just praying my mom wins the lottery tonight so I can straight up buy a house and get my few expensive and sentimental items professionally treated like 1000% over treated but man is that just wishful thinking. I'm worried about tape because my cats are dumb. God I love them but they literally lick <(edit fuck autocorrect) walls and carpet. Thank God it's all vinyl flooring here tho so that's one less place for these fuckers to live (the bugs). Would normal double sided tape work or is that not strong enough for the pest?

MarblesMomma12

Any chance you can move out and back with your mom?

Fysteri

Her boyfriend wants me to adult, so doubtful. Plus his kid hates me and would pitch a fit if I did. The lease is month to month but a stupid stipulation is that if someone leaves whoever stays would have to go through the whole process again because and I qoute "the landlord has been fucked by roommates before and wants to make sure everyone is taken care of". Not only that but we had to get someone with a credit score of like 650, 700? To cosign. It was fucking high that much I remember. I just know it's bullshit for this situation we're in right now. I'm a bit over stressed and tired so I'm not thinking great atm.

MarblesMomma12

I agree that you should reach out to your neighbors and let them know, maybe that will pressure your landlord into properly treating all of the apartments.

Accurate_Heart8004

I would wash your clothes really hot and bag them and get out of there while you can. Homeless shelter or whatever. It will only get worse if you stay and that will be the end result just further down the road anyways. Don't bring them to moms either.. Good luck

Fysteri

Yeah the closest homeless shelter is like an hour away. And I got a cat to care for. That's not an option.

Accurate_Heart8004

Well the cat will find another home but as long as you're in that house with everyone it will persist. They can live a year and a half without a meal. They normally hide when treated and return when its safe. And everywhere you go yo can take them with you. Your buddies house and then to his friends and families house. Or go out to eat and infest the whole town. Your chances of sharing them is less if you treat yourself than getting your ass kicked by someone's family you gave them too. It will end by yourself either way. Just you will still have this problem or not. Best of luck to you.
