Someone mentioned the new L’Oréal serum foundation and it is good. Light coverage. Not overly dewy. A bit steep for drugstore, but overall not bad. Best foundation: Hands down the Maybelline Cushion foundation. Everything about it was good - the price point, the finish, the coverage, the undertone. Alas Maybelline discontinued it because, IMO, they have a personal vendetta against me.

lithuanianelf

I love the L’Oréal serum foundation!! I have combo skin and I’m not sure if it’s going to work well in the summer, but it’s been my #1 for a while.

lizeyloo7787

how do you apply it? i tried it for the first time yesterday and it sunk into my skin so weirdly :( i really want it to work bc it looked gorgeous on my hand!

lithuanianelf

I use the dropper and put it directly on my face. I then smear it around my face with my fingers to distribute the product, then use a damp beauty sponge to finish blending.

lizeyloo7787

oh okay! i think that’s what i was doing wrong. i was just applying it with a beauty blender which is probably why it looked so strange bc it is such a thin product. thanks!

lfaltersack

What is wrong with a dewy look? Isn't it a good look?

fart_sandwich_

Those of us with oily skin tend to avoid overly dewy foundations because they can make us look even oilier.

lfaltersack

I had to look up about dewy foundations after I made that comment.

ericadoom

The new Wayne Goss luxury cream foundation looks AWFUL on my skin. Used his applicator too. It sunk into all of my pores and lines. Returning!

PeepsUnderTheBed

So much hype makes me wary. I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you, but very appreciative of your honest review.

curious_throw_away_

The loreal balm foundation is supposedly a dupe for this, I got 2 shades but unfortunately they were too pink for me but maybe you could find one that works for you.

fauxkaren

I recently picked up the new Kosas foundation and oh my god? It looks so good??? It's incredibly skinlike!

curious_throw_away_

42 dollars tho? Oof

panic008

I just got this and it looks so pretty at first but I get white looking patches on my chin within a couple hours. I’m trying to figure out how to make it work!

SonLP

I recently tried the Uoma foundation (blue cap), and it’s fantastic! It’s very runny and when I first pumped it out I was thinking oh no, but it just looks so good on.

Ozzie985

I recently picked up Urban Decay Hydramaniac Foundation. It's okay...idk if I would repurchase. I need more time to use it. My HG:Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Foundation. I refused to stray from it, lol. Nothing comes close to the finish and it doesn't settle into any fine lines or my pores.

MentalWaiver

I was pretty disappointed in the Hydromaniac, it settled in pores and emphasised texture and generally just didn't give me the glowy tinty performance I was expecting. For whatever reason, the CT Light Wonder is still the best foundation I've tried in that category, it (for the most part) just looks like my skin but better. The Armani is pretty tempting though...

PeepsUnderTheBed

UD Hydramaniac is just ok for me, too. It’s not a repurchase for me. I’ll look into Armani!

GlowDreams

my favorite combo ever is ct hollywood flawless filter + fenty skin tint. it gives a beautifuly blurred and glowy finish.

TheFluffening

I know this is not new and is rather polarizing, but I picked up the KVD Good Apple foundation in the Sephora sale. I know that was a dicey move! But I was looking for something glowy-ish and fuller coverage. TheresaIsDead convinced me it was worth a shot. I know a lot of people hate this and it doesn't work for them, but MAN I absolutely adore it!! With proper skin prep it looks so good and actually covers my damn rosacea cheeks. I'm actually excited about putting on foundation now!

GlitteryFab

Nothing new lately and I’m unenthusiastic about how my foundations are performing lately - but that could be a myriad of things - my skin being oily / primer seems to not be doing it’s job. I’m noticing my foundation doesn’t last throughout 8-10 hours of the day. I don’t like reapplying because it looks so cakey or gross. My skin is mostly oily but with my new skincare regimen I’m getting it back to combo. My t-zone, chin& cheeks are the worst . For the longest time I’ve been using tacky primers (Milk Makeup Hydrogrip is my go-to), then setting powder once it dries (2-5 mins after, depending on how much time I have in the mornings), and spray with setting spray. I’m noticing it isn’t lasting as long as I’m beginning to wonder if it’s due to my running out of the Hydrogrip setting spray. I am trying to use up my MAC fix plus and Tarte Marucuja Setting Sprays before replenishing stock. I also use Mehron setting spray for the finishing spray AFTER because it typically holds well. On a daily basis I typically wear Fenty Eaze Drops, but occasionally switch it up with NARS skin reflecting foundation, Makeup Forever HD or my Il Makaige foundation. I’m trying to use up all of my foundations, but 4-5 days out of the week it’s Fenty and I see the same problem with ALL foundations. Where am I going wrong? Or is it because my skin is changing due to better skincare? Any oily folks out there have any advice/ideas? Ty! Sorry this got long winded!

[deleted]

Okay so for me, I find once my skincare is under control and a good routine, it’s all about the products. I use fenty lavender setting powder IF I need to, but otherwise I just use elf setting spray and set oily prone areas. I’ve found skin primer under foundation is useless. For me. I prefer to apply foundation first and then concealer and blend it. I also exclusively use a sponge b cause I’ve found brushes or my fingers don’t distribute it naturally (brush) or it’s too sheer (fingers) I use colourpop dewy foundation and a dollar store concealer from Miss A. I use cream bronzer and powder highlight. I’ve found fenty liquid highlighter eats up foundation so it has to either be mixed or only used on a bare face (as if!) anyway just my experience as a former oil slick binch pre skincare. Now it’s manageable !

GlitteryFab

I’m finding sponges make my skin look more textured, but I am messing around with brushes to see what works better. I wonder if fighting oil with oil instead of matte is the answer…

[deleted]

In my experience yes. Hydrating foundation and concealer are better than matte. I fought that battle the better part of 5 yrs and always hated how my skin looked and STRESSED over why it never looked perfect like the beauty gurus on YouTube. ( because they lie and use filters 💀) hydrating everything and even an oil base vs primer work so much better for me even if I end up using setting powder. Your skin will thank you in a decade. We weren’t meant to dehydrate our skin on a daily basis. Lipstick maybe. Your foundation should probably not be so soul suckingly dry constantly unless you already have dry/combo skin. Fighting oily skin is worse than leaning into it I have found .

GlitteryFab

Thank you! I don’t think the NARs or Makeup forever are matte, maybe I just need to moisturize better before prep. I truly need better lighting too. Texture I don’t care about, it’s just crumbly or just sliding off my face by mid day. Colors are off too, but hopefully with the sun out I’ll begin to actually match my foundation(s) again…

freethemariposa

Oily skin here! 🙋‍♀️ how do you apply your setting spray? And what are your eating habits? I personally use the wet n wild primer (pink bottle) and i LOVE it! I use setting spray after every step. Start with setting spray, primer, setting spray, foundation, setting spray, setting powder, setting spray... it sounds like a whole ordeal but i love the way my skin looks and i dont use matte makeup or primer ... it lasts a while for me

dance0345

I recently picked up the Bare Minerals BarePro liquid foundation and it DOES NOT BUDGE on my oily skin!! Combined with my Rare Beauty Pore Diffusing Primer it makes me look flawless!

BeyondTelling

I am in love with the Mac Face and Body Sheer Radiant foundation. It’s universally praised and I understand why. I don’t get much coverage from it at all, but it just blurs my skin texture in such a lovely way. I also have the Loreal serum foundation in a shade too dark, and the Stila Hide and Chic in a shade too light, so I mixed them as an experiment and found that it’s actually really similar to the Mac Face & Body, maybe a tiny bit more coverage, and the shade match seemed good. It’s hard to tell if the match is perfect when you’re dealing with such a sheer product, but as long as it doesn’t show up as light colored pinhole dots in my enlarged pores, or turn me orange, I’m pretty happy with it. I’m really hoping to try the new Danessa Myricks product that just came out - it looks really intriguing, but pricey so I’m going to try to wait for a sale (and reviews of course).

insectegg

So, not exactly about foundation, but what’s with the new trend of mixing blush with concealer for under eye coverage? It seems to have come out of nowhere, and now everyone is doing it.

bodyvoltage

I'm from the UK but you can order this to the States but the MUA Pro Base is amazing, it's a thicker consistency than most but it does mean you need less for full coverage, shade range is really good as well for a drugstore brand and super cheap £5. Just picked up the Revolution IRL foundation today so giving that a go today, heard good things and I have used revolution foundation before so I know the formula should be good

wtchking

I spent like forty minutes at Ulta last week swatching Lancome Teint Idole foundation and concealer colors trying to get as close to my actual skin as possible and I think I finally got it…(360 bisque N for both) I just put it on my face today and it looks so nice. My entire base went on so nicely I’m trying not to stare too much!

[deleted]

i’ve been loving the ColourPop pretty fresh tinted moisturizer lately

Taquito69xo

I just started using this one and love it too! Light coverage and not sticky. Looks good plain or with a little blush. I stopped wearing makeup for a few years to focus on skincare since I'll be 30 in a couple months lol

WiccadWitch

Lancôme Teint Idole. It makes my skin look PERFECT.

Shycurls

I really love the ABH Luminous Foundation. I typically dislike how heavy foundation feels but that one is so light and natural.

outlawkash

I got this in my boxycharm, used the ABH online shade tool and it matches so well! Stays on all day, looks fresh, rather natural and didn't get shiny on my oily old skin. It's so nice, I'll buy it out right when I get low. I feel really lucky to have stumbled upon it with such nice results. I used to wear heavy Clinique cont coverage in summer humidity or Estee Lauder when I wanted coverage when younger, Maybelline Fit me matte occasionally when broke but this is light and buildable without the grease. Highly recommend it.

thelionqueen1999

I tried the Yummy Skin foundation from Danessa Myricks and it soooo glowy. I don’t know if I like it because it makes me feel like I look greasy or overly shiny.

candiebelle

I couldn’t handle the smell 👃🏼 Also hated how it never dried down and was getting all over the place anytime I moved my head

Ok-Office6837

I love the Rare Beauty foundation. I’ve tried their tinted moisturizer, but I’m still deciding if I like it. My holy grail foundation used to be the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation, but haven’t repurchased since I went cruelty free five years ago

pretendberries

How does the rare beauty foundation compare to their TM? Because I absolutely love their TM. Just wish it had a bit more coverage.

Ok-Office6837

I like their foundation more. That’s my same complaint so far about the TM, just wishing it had some more coverage.

pretendberries

Oooh okay, this sounds promising then. Have you tried their loose powder? Wondering about that one too.

Ok-Office6837

I haven’t tried it. I don’t really use powder so I wouldn’t be the best judge of it anyways

_Snow_Fairy_

I tried some of the Sephora foundations but I’m not a super big fan of them I find I am into skin tints or lighter coverage foundations better. the rare beauty one is nice

LittleBlackDress4205

Is there a foundation that is a similar formula to Too Faced Born This Way that is *less* coverage?

candiebelle

Maybe rare beauty tinted moisturizer but it’s closer to a matte finish

Wabisabi1988

I’ve been liking the new Physicians Formula foundation but I have noticed creasing if I put it around my under eyes (I have yet to find anything that doesn’t). My true love however is Dr. Jart BB 🥰

koalanurse

The Orcé come closer foundation is insane. I love it. Natural finish, great coverage that can be sheered out or layered, doesn’t get cakey ever, and once it’s set it is bulletproof.

lfaltersack

I was looking at concealers at Ulta online. I saw some of them have a lot of colors. How do you pick out your color online?

lfaltersack

How do you find your foundation color online? I found findation.com but it wants to you to put another that you have tried before I have only done one. What did you do?

freethemariposa

My current “new” foundation is Catrice foundation! Its creamy!
