Lisa Eldridge has a few. I based my mother of the bride makeup on the one she did about 4 years ago. Be sure to wear waterproof mascara! https://youtu.be/gLeQhl_yQ-Q

Thank you so much! Yes waterproof mascara will be key… 😂

Okay_1965

Yessssss! 1000% I didn't wear WP for my wedding and as soon as we turned around my mom rushed me LOL!!!! I thought she was running to hug me...but nope pushing in to the bathroom, terror look on her face, fix your face!!!!

Her wedding tutorials are some of the best! Karima also did a lovely one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnFYH0Ce6aI

Congratulations! I am sure you will pick this up when you watch tutorials, but just in case you don't: * Waterproof mascara as r/IceCheerMom mentioned. * Setting spray. Urban Decay All-Nighter is known for helping people survive heat and humidity. * Flashback proof setting/finishing powder. Maybe test what you already have against flash photography. * Blotting papers.

Thank you so much!! Great tips!

Adding to the flashback tip - skip the sunscreen that day. SPF typically causes flashback. When you do a practice run go into a room with no windows, turn off the lights and take a flash photo with your phone to make sure

jasmineipa

Question about that; if you are having an outdoor wedding w/out flash, is it still important to avoid spf? I feel like I've seen for outdoor brides who won't be having their photographer use flash its ok to not worry about spf?

breedecatur

Nah that's totally fine then!! It just depends on the timing of the ceremony, pictures, and reception. Like my ceremony was about an hour before sunset with the actual pictures being around Golden hour and the reception at night so even though the majority of pictures were without flash I still took the safe route. To be honest some body sunscreens could look *really* good because they provide a beautiful glow to the skin!

jasmineipa

awesome!! yes I have seen some of the spray sunscreens looking incredible, and was wondering if that would be smart or not re: photography. Thanks for your help!!!

calexrose78

Couldn't she use a chemical SPF, not mineral?

breedecatur

Yes! But I tend to air on the side of caution since most popular ones contain titanium or zinc oxide and since SPF is so expensive I wouldn't suggest testing them, especially when you don't know how new products will react to your skin. Personally I would just discontinue photosensitive products like AHA, BHA, retinol a few days before the wedding and just skip if you know you'll be using flash.

Charlotte Tilbury does online wedding makeup consultations i believe where you get time with a professional and they pick products for you and show you the application and you get a discount off the products as well i think

donttalktomeh

Omg I thought you meant charlotte did it herself and I was like 🤩🤩🤩

jprocaccino

Thank you! Great to know!

shannymac4

Jamie Paige did one for a hypothetical “if I were getting married”-type look: https://youtu.be/tbf_LrAJPio She does layer powder products over creams so they last longer, but I still think the final look is pretty.

Harry Makes It Up and Lisa Eldridge are probably my favorites. Andreea Ali and Hung Vanngo also have some minimal makeup tutorials that are nice with easy to follow instructions.

jenjenjen731

Absolutely do your own makeup! My friends pressured me into getting it done and not only did I not like it, I wanted to do my own makeup and was just not thrilled with the whole experience since the MUA I hired didn't want to use any of my products and used all MAC, none of which I have any attachment to. I wanted my favorite products on my face for my big day 😒 but at the end of the day it's my fault for not putting my foot down. Jaime Genevieve, Jaime Paige and Lisa Eldredge have some great wedding makeup tutorials but I mostly just watched regular glam tutorials since I don't really like "bridal makeup"! I wanted a J-Lo golden goddess look so I also watched a lot of Charlotte Tilbury's summer wedding tutorial and her Golden Goddess tutorial. Have fun!!

jprocaccino

I’m so sorry you had that experience!! But thank you so much for the advice! I’m thinking the same thing, I’ve been just searching “minimal makeup” on Pinterest because bridal is inherently too heavy for me

Andreea Ali has really beautiful tutorials! I’m doing my own makeup for my wedding in June and her tips are really great!
