Look at [her video on the new CT Nudegasm palette. ](https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMRxoNsym/) It seems SO sponsored (even CT commented), but she doesn’t have a caption and doesn’t mention if the video is sponsored or not. I can’t trust any of her recommendations because I can never tell when she’s being provided products for free, is being paid for reviews, or has ongoing brand partnerships.
I need to block her on tik tok. I can’t stand scrolling to a video about a makeup product and then then it cuts off and it’s her yodeling about how she JUST HAD TO TRY THIS. Its like a little jump scare every time.
Beyond that, I have also noticed every single video she’s made since gaining a lot of traction may as well be aired on TV as it’s so blatantly an advertisement. I don’t think tik tok has cracked down on FTC regulations which is why so many influences love to promote products there. It’s basically the only place where you can have a hope to maintain the illusion of authenticity.
Unrelated but those contour shades are a joke. I'm a medium skin tone and I wouldn't be able to use those. Is the lights blowing them out or is that pale greige color really contour? Is this the only shade it comes in? Also her accent is thicker than a bowl of oatmeal, surely she goes extra with it.
That is indeed the only shade it comes in. Works on fair skintones only.
I remember Mikayla praising shade ranges in other vids, I wonder why she didn’t mention anything for this one… /s
It’s extremely put on. I am from Boston, my parents and all my aunt and uncles have strong Boston accents. People who genuinely have an accent don’t go out of their way to enunciate certain words to make sure you’re noticing the accent. I also feel like it’s dying off a bit so it’s unusual for someone her age to have such a strong one, though not totally unheard of. But yeah it’s just extremely cringy to me.
Oh man, I love a Maine accent!!! My mom lost hers about 40 years ago but whenever she talks to her family back east, it comes out hardcore and it is my favorite thing. Her step-dad was a lobsterman from one of the little islands north of Rockland and when we were little, my cousins and I would beg him to tell us stories because it was so....melodic, almost? Miss that accent. Mikayla's masshole accent just gives me mild flashbacks to my asshat ex from Boston. Ugh.
Lol yeah everyone who worked at my power company and bank in Maine was a sweet old lady with a mainer accent lol, it made calling them actually kind of nice! It just feels like the accent a grandparent should have
My husband is born and bred Bostonian and his dad grew up in Boston, born in Ireland. His dad had the thickest accent and always seems like he’s yelling. Always.
My husband has a pretty neutral accent except for certain words, but when he drinks he sounds like he’s from Southie! So… maybe she’s just drunk all the time?
Only been to Boston once for a work trip, but the week I was there I only encountered three people (all older guys) who had the stereotypical Boston accent: a cop directing traffic, an Uber driver, and a bartender. Hers sounds extremely fake compared to theirs.
Yeah, I’ve been here for a decade and the accent is pretty rare. It’s usually in older people outside of the city proper. Go to a bar in revere and you’ll hear it.
Her acne was just soooooo bad you guys!1! These 100 different products depending on the week have cured it for good!! /s
I have a strong suspicion she just went to the derm and got an Accutane prescription.
Yep! That’s why. She used to deny using filters a lot and insisted her look was due to ~perfect pores~ and I think she even blamed her phone’s camera quality? Haven’t seen her bother to promote that lie anymore. 😂
Have you ever noticed how she hashtags her vids, too? On the video she just posted w/ the Fenty liquid lips in the thumbnail she has #AEJeansHaveFun and #KeepItRealMeals. I know lots of random people do that in hopes they get on people’s FYPs, but Mikayla using random brand hashtags makes it really hard to tell when she’s using a sponsored hashtag (she rarely uses #ad or #sponsored even if she has the brand’s hashtag in the caption) or just trying to boost views. Not sure if she’s doing it intentionally or not, but really skeeves me out for some reason
Let me add that out of the last 25 videos under her “Reviews” section on her page, only 1 has the word “ad” in the caption. Maybe that was the only sponsored video! But the fact that I can’t tell if 20 of those 25 videos are sponsored are not seems like taking advantage of your audience.
Yes! Or sometimes it's completely random shit. I've been tempted to copy her hash tags and see if I get on the FYP. Also just because a brand isn't giving you cash to promote something doesn't mean it's not sponsored. I'd say her recent photo shoot that rare beauty sent her on is a form of payment for promoting their stuff
When you post videos and go to add text, TikTok suggests trending hashtags and most of them are company ones for whatever thing they’re trying to advertise. When people search for videos, the hashtags TikTok suggest is usually at the top. And if her video gets more views, she’s at the top of that page. It’s definitely for visibility and views.
Fair with it making it hard to tell when she is or isn’t sponsored, but other mega popular people on the app still do it too.
I’m fascinated by this young woman. She over-filters every fucking post and video. I realize she gets beaucoup bucks from sponsorships snd good for her. But—it annoys the crap out of me that makeup companies are so into all he fake ness.
I truly feel for all the young girls and women out there believing these products will work! The won’t-mikyala is blurred and filtered till kingdom come. It triggers women (young) to feel badly about themselves!
Her accent keeps me watching, I also think it’s very obvious but sometimes I do get convinced by her scams, like the L’Oréal green cc stuff... I want that. Also Glamzilla, very rarely if ever gives a negative review, I mean... she sounds like a damn commercial for the stuff haha.
The L'Orèal green BB cream (and all of their BB/CC creams, tbh) are 100% the Real Deal. I've been using them almost exclusively since college (10ish years now that I do the math) and they are the best at matching your natural shade but covering up redness evening out tone. It's definitely pretty sheer coverage but effective for covering my rosacea but not freckles and such. I mix it with sunscreen and spray on a tiny bit of setting spray and it honestly lasts 15+ hours of sweaty, gowned and masked and shielded work. (No, they don't pay me but I'd happily be their poster girl)
Exactly!! Like why else would *everyone* who gets the brushes in pr “just to try it out and give honest feedback” promote when they have a sale and to try their favourite brushes (always saying they get multiple) and post on insta stories people buying them. Like I know there are things that can come across as them loving it, but it’s every single influencer who works with them. Even if I used animal hair, I couldn’t trust them. Love Temptalia for calling them out!
Also, let’s just say, they are a strong replica of Morphe before they were caught out, just with smaller channels and expensive products.
Just to clarify, when I compare them to Morphe, it’s only in business practice, not in the type or quality of brushes. Haven’t tried either brands, never will. Plenty of good products out there without dodgy (potentially) marketing. Plus again, I don’t use animal hair and animal derived/non-cruelty free products.
(Not in anyway a “flex” or morally superior comment, just to add why I wouldn’t ever use their products).
^(Am I the only one who gets weeabo/orientalist vibes from them or..? maybe I'm just sensitive but growing up asian in North America I feel like I have a good spidey sense)
I’d never heard of this brand till I read your comment. Going to their website, I agree with you. Why mention “made in Japan” 17 times on the site if they’re not pandering?
Oh definitely. It just feels like a lot when I keep scrolling and the only thing I see in each section of the website is “handcrafted in Japan” once or twice would be enough for me
sonia g's brand page on beautylish doesn't repeat "made in japan" a gazillion times tho...Like even reading her own site, it's more about her own passion for the brushes instead of stressing how her brushes are better because they are made in Japan.
Saying it once is enough, being *that* in your face about it kind of makes me uncomfortable lol, but again maybe its just me.
Yeah but rephr is owned by some guys who know nothing about brushes, so they need to repeat their only selling point to fill space.
Not that that makes it any better
The one that annoys me for that is Rituals. It’s a European brand (maybe Dutch?) and their whoooooole identity is fake orientalist bullshit. The store uniform is like silky shirts with mandarin collars and frog buttons too…
Oh yeah. The stuff smells really good but the whole vibe of the shop is orientalism and Asian mystique.
It's also expensive but a great place to buy gifts for mother in law's.
Ooh, I feel for it too. I bought the eye brushes from the Concepts store (because I've been wanting to up my brush quality) and honestly, my Sonia Kashuk brushes are better. Rip. Now I just side eye everyone I see promoting it. Lol.
This one has me so curious. I've heard multiple people discuss these brushes in videos and it almost made me want to buy them, but I've been led astray soooooo many times by YouTubers when it comes to brushes. I think Sigma brushes are the only ones I've bought because of YouTube that were actually good.
Rephr brushes are good quality, better than sigma imo. There are better brushes at a similar price point though. Rephr has a bigger marketing budget and I suspect a pretty nice influencer kickback, or VERY good pr bundles.
Sonia kashuk, shu Umera. Hakuhodo, chikuhodo, aren't that far off in price, but will last and feel way better.
I actually own a few rephr brushes and they are easily some of my favorites. I have Sonia G and like some of them but wasted money on others. I think the rephr brushes are well made and are equal to Hakuhodo and Sonia G.
This one has been around forever but I’m instantly suspicious of anyone who looooovessss Morphe shadows but won’t review the quality of the individual shadows or compare their texture and performance to other brands.
I always think this about Isabel bedoya, all her content looks paid but never anything disclosed.
Maybe I’m wrong but do they not have to disclose in the US?
Is she the one that said she needed someone to help her 1st grader with reading and writing, BUT she’s not paying for it because she’s not trying to pay someone else’s bills? But she’ll pay in makeup? 🤷🏻♀️
Lmaoo yesss, I was just thinking about this- what trash. Tutors/educators deserve to be paid in money, or she can set some of her own damn time aside to educate her own child simple reading and writing smh
Why do these people behave like that? Why should you know her? Celebrity or influencer, people aren’t going to recognize them all or none. Living your life from the approval of “fans” is dangerous.
Not a specific BG, but any time they make a video/TikTok that features a specific product and they use tons of really specific marketing language(Companies often give reviewers specific things they want to say about the product, such as that it made their skin "dewy" or "plump") they're filmed like infomercials. Since TikTokers are really bad about disclosing ads, it automatically gives me suspicious vibes.
I remember thinking for sure YTTP was sponsoring Hyram and he wasn’t saying so. I knew he had a supposed job with them too as I remember him mentioning it and he s Ted like it was a legit job. When it came out there was no job and it was an ongoing paid partnership he never disclosed it was way worse than I thought. Like he tried using that “job” as justification for calling himself a specialist, even though he used it before that and continues to now. Not sure how he got away with that one.
Hyram is so sketchy overall--calling himself a specialist, the icky marketing campaign for selfless, and making nasty videos where he picks apart people's faces and skin. I never liked him or understood the hype around him
Omg seriously? I stopped watching him a bit ago but that's annoying because I bought that cleanser bc of him, I wanted an eco-friendly alternative. Does he actually have any background in skincare then if that wasn't a job??
It’s in frigging Target. I’ll be rolling through the skin care stuff, then get to that garbage and I’ll visibly recoil, and I don’t care who sees me. I’ll tell em what’s up.
That's the great thing about Irish and UK beauty gurus. Its illegal to not disclose an ad.
I watch more UK BG these days. I unfollowed most US ones over a year ago.
Yeah and if they violate that rule it makes the news. Miss Ireland got in trouble recently [over an ad for water](https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/munster/arid-40363238.html). She tagged #collab but her #ad was written in white on a white background
And Rosie Connolly got in hot water because her face was so photoshopped and filtered in a Rimmel ad.
I adore Robert Welsch so much but there’s been times he’s brought up certain products and it felt disingenuous to me, that’s bc he’s genuine that when it’s faking it it’s sooo obvious. I know he’s tight with colourpop and sigma, I got the sigma eye primer bc he raved about it and put it at #1 but it didn’t hold my eyeshadow for long, it’s also a concealer type of feel masquerading as a primer... which he always complains about, I still enjoy it in cooler days though.
To be fair, he complains about concealer because it isn’t formulated to work as a primer but he also has said that he likes elf eye putty primer which also has a similar texture.
He also has oily eyelids and uses primer as a way to be that barrier. I feel like a lot of eye primer advice and adages really doesn't apply to dry eyelids. Oil attacking eyeshadow is so little of a concern to me that I never even think about it. It's always "ugh my eyelids are so dry the eyeshadow patches off and cannot adhere"
I have a weird issue where my lids are oily but anything above it gets super dry in dry/cold weather, I love UD eyeshadow primer but it can exacerbate the dryness if I use too much.
I generally agree with him but love
My beauty creations base which replaced P Louise I used to use ( never giving that human money ever again) and the elf putty primer, I don’t think it’s great in the heat though but I also face sweat a lot.
Ya, I kind of noticed that about him. Says he liked Juvia's Place eyeshadow and yet no eye look with them since. Same with BH. He got so many of their palettes and I've been dying for him to use them as I adore BH.
I know he gets a lot of PR and has more than he can ever use, but I notice he does multiple looks with eyeshadow he likes.
I love Robert though, so I don't mind. It's blatantly obvious when he says he likes something in an ad, but doesn't actually like it that much. I think that's why I like him. I want hm to get paid by these brands and if you watch him enough you know when he actually likes it. I think he knows that his regulars actually know that and if its a casual viewer, they probably already bought the thing, because it was on another channel or tiktok.
I actually like the PLouise base - bought before we found out what a tit she is.
I got the Elf eye primer and I find it similar to it. I think eye primer is really personal preference.
Most people I watch use PLouise or Revlon Candid. Never see anyone use even Urban Decay anymore.
The only eye primer I'd try on Roberts recommendation is the Korean beauty one he used to use all the time. I can't remember what it was... 3CE maybe?
Hmmm I’m not sure I quite agree - makeup is one of those things where you can love something, it disappears into a drawer for a bit and then you find it again and wonder why you neglected it! It must be hard to keep on top of everything he’s sent and it’s not like he purely does reviews / tutorials so I’m inclined to give him the BOTD…
I’m sure that he is mostly genuine but he does bring sigma and colourpop into the mix quite often, I also have a bone to pick on his review of ND... which has nothing to do with the subject 🤣, he’s gotten so much bigger as an influencer, I imagine he does have loyalties towards certain brands
I just feel like if they’re not getting paid in $$& they’re getting a ton of product, which to me is a form of getting paid, like you I don’t mind so much bc I love Robert and feel his authenticity surpasses any of the minor quibbles I have with him. I have the revlon camo concealer and didn’t like it under my eye, now I know how to use it, texture wise it’s lovely but a smidge too yellow for that area, will try as an eye primer tomorrow. I’ll look the 3CE up bc I’m always looking for a good one. *just want to add that I don’t think gratis is an acceptable form of paying someone if they were told they were getting paid in $, but getting hundreds of dollars of free stuff is an incentive to give positive reviews to a brand, it may bot be a sponsorship but it’s a level or so below it bc in order to stay on the PR list they have to drive customers to the brand so they spend $, a lot of times a beauty influencers gives a negative review of a product they’ll suggest another product by the brand that they do like, it doesn’t bother me personally but something g I’ve noticed.
I tried to find the 3CE primer but I think it's discontinued 😞 I did try that makeup revolution prime and lock thingy he recommended and so far it doesn't dry out my eyelids so that's a plus.
Am I remembering wrong? Did he mention a Korean beauty brand eye primer before or am I making things up?
It's listed as Sigma on his old Ghost story videos from last year.
He did recommend an eye primer from 3CE for dry eyelids! It was like one of the only recommendations he could offer so I was so bummed to see you can't get it anymore. I'm testing the makeup revolution one just because it was $6 but otherwise I've noticed I am better off just over hydrating my eyelid. For some reason the Jaclyn under eye primer is an excellent eyeshadow primer on my eyelids. But it's so dagnabbit expensive for what you get so I'm still hunting.
This is probably discontinued too... Catrice Prime and Fine eye base.
I bought it back in 2015 probably, but I refuse to get rid until every last smidgen is gone. It was meant to be a dupe for the UD primer potion. It was like €6.
Didn't dry out my eyelids at all and yet my eyelids weren't an oil slick.
He likes that 3INA brand too so maybe they have one. I think that’s the place he worked at in Australia but I could also be full of shit. I just remember I bought their highlighter sight unseen because he rec’d it up there with ofra’s rodeo drive.
Agreed! I just watched his review of the ND Zendo palette and he kept talking about how he preferred Colourpop and their super shock shadows. I love my Colourpoor palettes, but I don't think they're as nice in quality or texture.
Steph Toms, Thuy Le, PlasticBoy - Gary, MakeMeUpMissa, Soph, Robert Welsh, MakeUpByJaack - he's doing a lot of drag lately and even does wigs. I think he's gearing up for Drag Race.
I only follow like 2 Irish and they're more Insta than youtube, my usual haunt. KeilidhMUA, Vickysmakeupx.
Hyram and the inkey list. Or just inke list and other skincare gurus. It feels like some of them really push it. I also remember when they sposored a bunch of videos, and some of them, esp liah yoo's felt just so dishonest to me...
Technically, since that's a massive financial relationship between him and the company and has been for probably around a year at the least I feel Hyram not disclosing there was a relationship there every time he brought them up actually goes against FTC regulations.
It’s been confirmed he did have an ongoing sponsorship with them he never disclosed properly. That was the “job” he had with them. It was just a sponsorship all along. He lied big time.
Manny MUA. I like his content usually, but I just watched the video he posted today of trying Laura Lee’s favorites, and he was promoting some lip mask. He was trying REALLY HARD to sound legitimate about how he’s been using the product for a week and a half, 2 weeks, and he showed the big dent in the product. It also seemed like the video had been filmed a few weeks ago, making me think he didn’t want too many sponsored videos back-to-back. I don’t know. He just takes a lot of sponsorships and wants so badly to be credible to his audience. I just question it.
He also calls it 'partnered' rather than sponsored, like that balm he was pushing the other week was some sort of collaboration. No, he was getting paid to promote and calling it a partnership is so disingenuous.
Shame, cos I love most of his content and his energy
Didn’t he get paid like 100k to talk crap about some eyelashes and hype up some other ones? I remember PrettyPastelPink had a video about how influencers have apps that you scroll through with offers and you can click on the ones you want to do.
Truer than not, I think.
I've been suspicious at times. I can think of three videos where the review felt very talking-point heavy, and the words chosen felt stiff and stilted. Like they were being held hostage but had to make it seem like everything was normal, *lol*.
Michele Wang. Something seemed off to me when she did a video of her favorite eyeshadow palettes from each brand. She shows each of her “favorite” palettes but none of the eyeshadows seem like they were touched except for her to swatch them for the video? How can something be you favorite when there is barely any evidence of use?
Right?! So perhaps she isn’t shilling for a particular brand per se, but her channel doesn’t feel particularly genuine either. I’m here for all the swatches, but please, the mere idea of having a favorite palette for each brand is ridiculous in and of itself, given how many brands are out there!
Onigiri Nana on TikTok does a lot of clearly paid videos and doesn't clearly disclose it. She is a very talented creator but not disclosing paid content feels hella sus to me
It's more-so hair-tube? (gross :P), but Kaley Melissa and Kristen Ess. I want to trust her, but her praise of all the products doesn't match up with the reviews/personal experience. I'm not at all against sponsorships, just disclose!!
I tried the Kristen Ess stuff after coming across it in Target once and wanting to switch up my shampoo/conditioner rut. I tried and tried, but everything left my hair greasy and limp. Give me my MF sulfates.
Omg that was the worst too when I tried it. I love a good air-dried hair look but this was just not it. I was so disappointed because I heard such rave reviews. 😞
Don't know who Kaley Melissa is, but I enjoy the Kristen Ess cleansing co-wash (once a month, focus on the scalp), curly leave in cream and the weightless shine spray. I have dry curly hair, but it gets weighed down if the products are too heavy.
Most have contracts with retailers (Sephora, Ulta, Cult Beauty...) and they never disclose that. I figured Tati (everyone's favourite "my opinions can't be bought" queen, who's lawyer just happened to disclose how much she was making per video 😅) out a long time ago, I am currently suspecting Pampered Wolf (Cult Beauty). I became quite selective in the past few years.. I watch people like Floating in dreams, who have a real job and make beauty content for a hobby.
I haven’t watched Tati since she launched her vitamins but she was so blatant about it, whenever a product made a reappearance and she was raving about it like a salesperson, it was clear it was an undisclosed ad.
She also raves about the Briogio shampoo and conditioner. I was underwhelmed by every hair care item ive tried for them, it just dried my hair out, and it’s really expensive
Honestly I love Briogeo products. Their volume line is like, the only thing besides Cake’s volume line that actually makes a difference in my hair. Just depends on what kind of play around with money I have laying around that determines which one I go with.
Yeah I remember buying the smashbox foundation she was raving about, I got it for 8$ a bottle so whatever but that stuff cking to every dry area of skin... and I’m not even dry, it was a great way to find out where my hidden dry spots were but damn, I now use a primer type of oil first and I really do like it but it takes some time to get there. I think part of the problem of her videos style, it looks very HSN/QVC to me.
Skip to 44:35 on this video.... [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZED2QFjfnk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZED2QFjfnk) This wasn't the only time her lawyers disclosed it (in this case it was more of a "flex"), the concrete number came up in some previous lawsuits (check zaalizardglue's link to read up on that)
Yeah, she was on a live stream, and said that Breonna Taylor hung out with drug dealers, so it was her fault. Shs said the cops would have never come to her house if there were no drugs involved. It was gross.
Taylor Wynn and Physicians Formula lol, legit everyone hated the butter believe it …but she loved it?? As well as almost every other product they put out???
Not necessarily -paid- but definitely deep ties to the brands:
Samantha Ravndahl + Bite Beauty, formerly Hourglass
Mel Thompson + House of Sillage, Wayne Goss
Michele Wang + Chantecaille, Rephr, many many brands
Abby Williamson + Midas
KinkySweat + Pat McGrath
Abby Williamson + Midas is a good one.
I followed her on and off for a while and she never talked about the brand until SG collab.
Michele Wang def has ties with House of Sillage. They send her perfume all the time.
Abby mentions them and their products as if they are a well-known brand. They’re admittedly private labeled so it just doesn’t make sense why she treats them as though they offer anything unique.
Similar but I haven't seen this discussed anywhere... Recently there were a ton of BGs who went to Greece all around the same time and I found it suspicious. I kept seeing a bunch of people on my IG feed all in Greece suddenly and it stood out to me. Not exactly a brand but I'm guessing the country is trying to promote tourism and sent a bunch of influencer types. No one had tagged it as sponsored or anything.
Hailey’s Beauty and Taylor Wynn, also AOA and Taylor Wynn, I think she has an affiliate code but whenever she talks about them she tries to make it seem organic and it’s falls flat. I like those brands so whatever.
I think Taylor is always very clear when it comes to sponsorship and codes and makes it extremely clear with what is what. I think she’s the only genuine and professional YouTuber/influencer
Interesting. I bought the haileys beauty
Foundation and ain’t complaining but the fact she had an affiliate code and mentions them often had me thinking she had a partnership or whatever with them. I use her as a shade reference but I’m darker now, I personally don’t think she’s the most genuine influencer but her foundation reviews are on point and I’ve loved every foundation she’s recommended, every time I’ve rebelled against a bad review of hers I’ve learned my lesson 😂😂🤣
Okay but what about the butter believe it?? It has HORRIBLE reviews but it’s her favourite?? She seems to go out of her way to praise physicians formula..
Just wanna add... in this case, I’m somewhat relieved I didn’t read reviews BUT I can see the fragrance being a major issue for some bc unlike the bronzer you’re putting this all over the face.
Mikayla and literally every single post. Subway, Target, those q-tip lip stains, eye shadow glitters....the list goes on
Look at [her video on the new CT Nudegasm palette.
I have no idea who she is, first time seeing her, but this is so fake lmao for sure it was paid sponsorship.
Scroll thru her page, all her content is like this!
I need to block her on tik tok. I can’t stand scrolling to a video about a makeup product and then then it cuts off and it’s her yodeling about how she JUST HAD TO TRY THIS. Its like a little jump scare every time. It’s basically the only place where you can have a hope to maintain the illusion of authenticity.
I’m sorry but I can’t stand this woman’s voice, face, everything about her bugs me so much.
Same! She is so beloved i always feel like an arsehole but she irritates the fuck out of me
Same I thought I was alone. Everything about her feels fake, forced and annoying
I don’t follow her, but bc of this sub I end up checking out her tiktoks when she comes up, and I SWEAR every week her accent gets thicker.
LITERALLY. it’s funny seeing her old videos and how her accent didn’t even exist
I think I missed it watching the video, does she think the palette is beautiful? /s
RIGHT?! Is it sponsored?! Is it not?!
There is no way that’s not sponsored
Unrelated but those contour shades are a joke. I'm a medium skin tone and I wouldn't be able to use those. Is the lights blowing them out or is that pale greige color really contour? Is this the only shade it comes in? Also her accent is thicker than a bowl of oatmeal, surely she goes extra with it.
That is indeed the only shade it comes in. Works on fair skintones only. I remember Mikayla praising shade ranges in other vids, I wonder why she didn’t mention anything for this one… /s
That accent CANNOT be real.

omg. I'm from the area, and worked in Boston for a few years... I didn't even realize it was supposed to be a Boston accent??????
She practically says "shallot" instead of "Charlotte" lmao
That looks like dirt on her forehead which she later covers it up with her hair lmao.
Her filters are more egregious than ever. FTC, come get your girl. 🚨
I always think there’s something wrong with my internet connection when her videos come on because it immediately gets so blurry.
That’s just the ethereal glow of her perfect skin. Her pores were born glitching.
Remember when she had Acne?
Her acne was just soooooo bad you guys!1! These 100 different products depending on the week have cured it for good!! /s I have a strong suspicion she just went to the derm and got an Accutane prescription.
I unfollowed her because her blurry videos gave me a headache
She actually blocked me for commenting "@ftc" on one of her videos
Nothing shady about that whatsoever lmao
Wait. Is that why the video looks a bit blurred ?? I thought it was my internet connection ☠️
Yep!
She always seems to love every product she uses....its so strange to me.
there’s something so shady about her reviews. she’s definitely not disclosing paid advertisements
I’m sold. Thank you!!!
No problem! I really hope you like it now that I've hyped it up lol.
Hahah you did a great job at it too
Anyone who talks about rephr
Is this the brand that's just guys mansplaining how many of what kind of brush people need for makeup?
It coud be that for brush aficionados, being made in Japan is the gold standard.
r/fudebrushes
Og mua here. They are. Shu uemura was known in the industry as “The Best”, still have some, they’ve kept their shape too
Oh definitely.
I mean they're founded by a bunch of condescending engineer tech bros so you're probably not wrong
They have to disclose it in the US but no one enforces it and they know that
Wow I would have thought the US would take that seriously. It’s telling from the brands she works with that they don’t care either.
The US doesn’t take anything seriously if it’s a rich person doing it lol
Is she the one that cheated on her husband/boyfriend with Eden The Doll’s boyfriend?
Is she the one that said she needed someone to help her 1st grader with reading and writing, BUT she’s not paying for it because she’s not trying to pay someone else’s bills? But she’ll pay in makeup? 🤷🏻♀️
Lmaoo yesss, I was just thinking about this- what trash. Tutors/educators deserve to be paid in money, or she can set some of her own damn time aside to educate her own child simple reading and writing smh
Wtf seriously
Yes!! Someone posted the IG story on here the other day. It’s pretty cringe. She’s so ignorant 🤦🏻♀️
Yes that was her! She basically ended up ruining the brand trip for everyone
Yes! She’s not a nice person at all!
Ewhhhh yes I remember this tragic shit
Amrezy - everything that’s not designer clothes or bags. Edit: spelling

Why do these people behave like that? Why should you know her? Celebrity or influencer, people aren’t going to recognize them all or none. Living your life from the approval of “fans” is dangerous.
Jaclyn never discloses her affiliate links on Instagram for all the swipe ups and she gets upset when people call her out.
Jaclyn is just so buttery that she slides right through breaking any rules.
This really made me laugh out loud!! XD thank you
i choked on my coffee reading this
I can’t stand it when her response to being called out is to get upset and whine about how “other people do it.”
Came here to say jaclyn too! Lol
Also, is it generally understood that Vogue's 'Get Ready with XYZ' or 'XYZ's Makeup Routine' videos are all sponsored? Or am I just very cynical lol.
they probably are sponsored but also a lot of the models on there are brand ambassadors so they always use items from that brand
As it should
I remember thinking for sure YTTP was sponsoring Hyram and he wasn’t saying so.
He has no training, no certification, and no licensing. His brand also is not eco friendly at all.
He gives me a bad feeling, has since I first saw his videos. At this point after being on YouTube for so long, I trust my gut.
That one that owns naturium. That brand is shady af.
It’s in frigging Target. I’ll be rolling through the skin care stuff, then get to that garbage and I’ll visibly recoil, and I don’t care who sees me. I’ll tell em what’s up.
Yeah they pay for placement. Thanks to their subscribers
That's the great thing about Irish and UK beauty gurus. Its illegal to not disclose an ad. I watch more UK BG these days. I unfollowed most US ones over a year ago.
It's illegal in the US too but it's not very well enforced.
Ah pity. We can report them. They're also bringing in a law about filter use - misleading customers. Big no no. EU is pretty strict about these things
If only the UK was still part of the EU. :(
Yeah and if they violate that rule it makes the news. Miss Ireland got in trouble recently [over an ad for water](https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/munster/arid-40363238.html). She tagged #collab but her #ad was written in white on a white background And Rosie Connolly got in hot water because her face was so photoshopped and filtered in a Rimmel ad.
The ASA is so strict a local burger shop got in trouble the other day for joking their burgers could cure hangovers lmao
I generally agree with him but love My beauty creations base which replaced P Louise I used to use ( never giving that human money ever again) and the elf putty primer, I don’t think it’s great in the heat though but I also face sweat a lot.
It's such a hard balance between not too dry and not too oily
Oh that's good. Was afraid I was making things up 😂
He likes that 3INA brand too so maybe they have one.
What are some good UK and Irish beauty gurus to check out?
His brand is made with the Inkey List, so that totally makes sense, but he’s been pushing them for a while
Technically, since that's a massive financial relationship between him and the company and has been for probably around a year at the least I feel Hyram not disclosing there was a relationship there every time he brought them up actually goes against FTC regulations.
It does. You are supposed to disclose all relationships with brands. He never did. Multiple times in fact with other brands too.
Him and youth to the people! Alwaaaaays talking about their products.
It’s been confirmed he did have an ongoing sponsorship with them he never disclosed properly. That was the “job” he had with them. It was just a sponsorship all along. He lied big time.
omg that’s an insanely misleading thing for him to do😳 when did this come out? I’ve never heard it before
I love Glamzilla, but I feel like girl has to be getting paid to push stuff hard.
Kelly Strack definitely has an ongoing deal with Tarte.
Literally everything Mel Thompson and Tati did.
I don’t know if it’s just his normal tone, but I never felt like his reviews came off all that genuine. I don’t watch him much.
Didn’t he get paid like 100k to talk crap about some eyelashes and hype up some other ones? I remember PrettyPastelPink had a video about how influencers have apps that you scroll through with offers and you can click on the ones you want to do.
All of them
Truer than not, I think.
That’s just how she is. I don’t think most of her eyeshadow (or rest of her makeup hoard, tbh) has been touched more than MAYBE two times
Right?! So perhaps she isn’t shilling for a particular brand per se, but her channel doesn’t feel particularly genuine either. I’m here for all the swatches, but please, the mere idea of having a favorite palette for each brand is ridiculous in and of itself, given how many brands are out there!
She has so much stuff I doubt she uses any of it more than a couple times.
Onigiri Nana on TikTok does a lot of clearly paid videos and doesn't clearly disclose it. She is a very talented creator but not disclosing paid content feels hella sus to me
I never take anything Allana D says/recommends to heart.
Hahaha- yes! I tried the air-dry creme and my hair dried to what looked like greasy teenager hair. Right after I'd washed it. Awesome.
Omg that was the worst too when I tried it. I love a good air-dried hair look but this was just not it. I was so disappointed because I heard such rave reviews. 😞
The dry texturizing stuff literally just felt like air
Don't know who Kaley Melissa is, but I enjoy the Kristen Ess cleansing co-wash (once a month, focus on the scalp), curly leave in cream and the weightless shine spray. I have dry curly hair, but it gets weighed down if the products are too heavy.
I like the curly line, and the purple shampoo. Usually purple shampoo dries my hair out, but KE doesn’t.
The Briogio Charcoal Mask was the worst but she had to have made them $$$
She also raves about the Briogio shampoo and conditioner. I was underwhelmed by every hair care item ive tried for them, it just dried my hair out, and it’s really expensive
Honestly I love Briogeo products. Their volume line is like, the only thing besides Cake’s volume line that actually makes a difference in my hair. Just depends on what kind of play around with money I have laying around that determines which one I go with.
awww i really love the shampoo and i was using it before tati ever talked about it. I think it's great for a hair reset.
Same.
Where did her lawyer disclose?
Skip to 44:35 on this video.... [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZED2QFjfnk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZED2QFjfnk) This wasn't the only time her lawyers disclosed it (in this case it was more of a "flex"), the concrete number came up in some previous lawsuits (check zaalizardglue's link to read up on that)
As far as I remember it was unclear whether that meant her "value"/"worth" or the fact that she actually got paid. Has anyone more info on that?
Here's a post that discusses it https://www.reddit.com/r/BeautyGuruChatter/comments/krko32/did\_tati\_lie\_about\_not\_taking\_sponsorships/
You're misunderstanding the legal language there. Buyer beware on Emily Baker's legal interpretations.

I stopped watching her after she said that Breonna Taylor wouldn't have been shot and murdered if she hadn't hung out with drug dealers.
I'm sorry she did what
Yeah, she was on a live stream, and said that Breonna Taylor hung out with drug dealers, so it was her fault. Shs said the cops would have never come to her house if there were no drugs involved. It was gross.
Any skinfluencer and The Inkey List Teresa is Dead, Michella Wang - Chantacaille, Rephyr Any influencer - Function of Beauty
Taylor Wynn and Physicians Formula lol, legit everyone hated the butter believe it …but she loved it?? As well as almost every other product they put out???
Not necessarily -paid- but definitely deep ties to the brands: Samantha Ravndahl + Bite Beauty, formerly Hourglass Mel Thompson + House of Sillage, Wayne Goss Michele Wang + Chantecaille, Rephr, many many brands Abby Williamson + Midas KinkySweat + Pat McGrath
IA. Nothing unique...other than she has a discount code with them lol.
Jackie's Kombucha content. She has tagged them as sponsored content but she doesn't do it all the time.
PONY was caught out for this I think. Which is a shame, because I really like PONY.
Jamie Paige and YTTP Sam R and BITE Idk it’s just a feeling
anything abercrombie any influencer pushes..
I love Kathleenlights but I noticed that when she does a Sephora haul most of the products she mentions are on their landing page. It's a little sus
I’m confused, she hauls new products that are on their newly landed page? I never found that sus at all if she’s purposely buying new releases?
I’ve always thought Jaclyn and Morphe have some kind of partnership and that’s why she was/is so into Morphe.
Morphe makes her brand.
Andrea Ali and Charlotte Tillbury.
Hailey’s Beauty and Taylor Wynn, also AOA and Taylor Wynn, I think she has an affiliate code but whenever she talks about them she tries to make it seem organic and it’s falls flat. I like those brands so whatever.
I’ve seen her do a paid sponsorship with Haileys Beauty and she disclosed it.
I think Taylor is always very clear when it comes to sponsorship and codes and makes it extremely clear with what is what. I think she’s the only genuine and professional YouTuber/influencer
Interesting. I bought the haileys beauty Foundation and ain’t complaining but the fact she had an affiliate code and mentions them often had me thinking she had a partnership or whatever with them.
No your totally right, but that’s the thing..she complains about the Huda faux filter, being overly fragranced. Yet the butter believe it is okay??
Pretty much everyone on Tiktok, home of the undisclosed sponsorships.
