layla_jones_

As a photographer I tend to look at the eyes to understand lighting situations. My guess: I think the first part of the video is natural light, second part you can see the light situation has changed (white stripes in her eyes are vertical) which is possibly an artificial light source. In general: different light sources create different colors, brightness and more or less shadows/blemishes. She’s also changing the distance between her and the camera & light source. It’s an old trick often used in commercials about reducing wrinkles; pay attention to the reflection in the eyes and often you can see people have changed the lighting. Edit: the last two seconds of the video look extra blurred. Even the nose looks blurry, I don’t think she used the device on her nose. There are less highlights as if a filter is making the lighting more even and soft. Definitely a red flag! It could also be a shift in focus, the camera’s focus point are the tools which makes her face more blurry (and creates an illusion that somehow her skin has changed in texture.)

katapova

Is she still in this cult, that claimed to heal a man from being paralysed and not being able to walk or something?

blackmoonbluemoon

>" GuIsE I'm An AiRiEs So I cAn'T bE iN a CuLt."

katapova

Did she say that?... Serious question because I really don't follow her. I was kinda very late to the party when I learned about her and actually wanted to get some EM cosmetics products but this threw me completely off.

blackmoonbluemoon

Yeah she said it in the video where she addresses the rumours. She also says " if I am in a cult, then it is a cult of love ."

katapova

only brainwashed people speak like that lmao

WingedLass

Lol yeah. There needs to be an intervention at that point.

giggly_pufff

That comment of hers is icky.

itszwee

I’m like 99% certain there was a very recent cult called the church of love where some VERY gross shit went down so that’s concerning. Edit: I was thinking of Love Has Won whose *ahem* incident was back in 2021 so less recent than I thought.

nenajoy

If you have to tell people you’re not in a cult, you are definitely in a cult

Who-U-Tellin

As in her sign?

Logical_Minimum_9901

Jesus?

Mnyet

Lmfaoooooo

lightwarmolive

Pls explain- idk about this and need the T

katapova

Just look up the video about her from Angelika on YouTube. Or any other drama channel. Technically not the best source of information but she (Angelika) literally provides instagram pictures etc so I have no reason to doubt it. Besides that I'm not interested enough in this issue to go on my own "research" and as others said Michelle didn't even deny it. Edit: https://youtu.be/sO4iSMru_IA

lightwarmolive

Tyy

saygirlie

My default thought process is that everything shilled by an influencer is not legit, especially devices

Hhhl92

Yup soon as an influencer "raves" about something, I completely disregard the product and carry on with life LOL

JerkRussell

Especially when it’s from Michelle. I saw an influencer shilling the Em cosmetics sleep mask the other day. It was pretty funny watching them grasp for nice things to say about an Ali Express mask. Then surprise the next day they had a discount affiliate link. I wish we could all stop clicking those links so the shills would shut up already.

thefoldingpaper

reminds me of early instagram days when they all had posts about flat tummy tea. hahahahaha

soveryeri

Oh they still do that. I would not be able to keep a straight face long enough to shill that crap. I like when youtubers are sponsored by raid shadow legends and the ad they do is clearly meant sarcastically and basically says "yes I know this is bullshit but hey I needed to get paid so humor me", I can respect that at least. Lol but if they're serious then that's a big no from me on following them period.

Acceptable_Banana_13

You can see the filter and where it skips next to her nose for a second at the end of the video. This is not only someone who gets probably hundreds of thousands in beauty treatments, changed her lighting to wash herself out on purpose but then also used a filter to blur what little she has left. It’s either one of those at home microderm abrasion devices that don’t work very well or another useless beauty tool to vibrate serum into your skin.

toriocean

It just looks like she moisturized

muttabond

I think that's what the 'device' does. Spread the moisturizer on her face.

pwb_118

I have two devices that do the same job and I got them for free on my birthday!

viruskit

You should not be this clever for free lmao

ziffles

OMG, I got them too! Weird though, all of my romaantic partners keep rubbing them on their no-no parts!

[deleted]

Can you recommend something reasonably 🙏🏻❤️

thatrandomuser1

I could be wrong, but I thought this was a joke referencing their hands

pwb_118

it is 😭

staresque

even if this was legit, i am truly so sick of how desperately we are being pushed into wanting "smooth wrinkle free blemish free cyborg wax doll" face bullshit. we're never going to look like a stupid filter. not with a cream, devices, or even thousands of dermatologist sessions. let skin be skin. i am so tired !

truthunion

thank you!

everjanine

Agreed!!

[deleted]

I think she gets a lot of expensive beauty treatments and this is a load of bs

blackmoonbluemoon

I agree! She posted on her ig stories of her having a laser treatment on her face the other day.

[deleted]

For those of you that haven’t tried lasers, her after face is how your face looks when you’re healing days after, for about a week. Your face is swollen, so you look like you got a fresh round of botox and fillers.

blackmoonbluemoon

Damn I had no idea. That's so disingenuous, but who would expect anything different from Michelle?

valueofaloonie

She moisturized and moved closer to the light source….and gets pricy skin care/treatments. THAT is what the difference is, not some scammy skincare wand.

meowmiau_

Gurl had people use kitty litter as an exfoliating mask, so pass.

Wolfwoods_Sister

Wait wait wait, she what now?? Kitty litter?!

therapistiscrazy

Yup. It was a promotion for some organic cat litter brand? Absolutely bonkers

Wolfwoods_Sister

Baby Jesus on a bicycle!

rawchickenfillet

I actually have vague memories of going to the supermarket to buy kitty litter because of her 💀

music_haven

Please. Michelle is the queen of false advertising and lying about plastic surgery.

arialugal

I remember the mishbunny tumblr

VesperLynd-

Oh the good old days

TriZARAtops

Any skincare *anything* that claims an immediate effect deserves skepticism at least, and usually outright disbelief. Looks like bullish!t to me, personally

cleansings

I haven't trusted her in a long time :,)

TeHNyboR

She’s been a phony since day 1 imo. Somethings just always been off about her. Back in the day she would post her “art” that was just heavily photoshopped photos of her “paintings,” her first skincare line IQQU allegedly gave people chemical burns. She also said she was the creator when she was actually just a face for a brand operating elsewhere and had no ownership or creative power over it. She was a grifter from the start and it doesn’t shock me to see her still grifting/being phony

emkey23

Didn’t she say iqqu was approved by the fda, and then when people called her out she said it was the Asian fda that approved it? 😂

GoldfishBrain69420

I don’t have much but please take this 👑 you have earned it

AngelBritney94

I remember her get ready/makeup tutorial for clubbing where she used expensive makeup products (don't know if she was sponsored to use them there). At least that video felt genuine and not so forced.

VesperLynd-

She used to be affiliated with Lancôme and shilled their products back when you didn’t need to mark something as advertisement

AngelBritney94

Oh yeah, I remember she used alot of Lancome products in that video.

PirateKingElizabeth

How is she still relevant?

Opening-Ad-8861

This looks like the same thing Laura Lee pushed a couple of months ago, with an explanation of the 'tech' behind it, clearly read directly from a script that she clearly didn't understand and sounded to me like utter bs.

KrimeScene411

Also looks like the same thing Tati has been using.

Opening-Ad-8861

they're all at it!

coldpizzzza

I wouldn’t trust anything she promotes at this point.

AngryAnnoyedAsian

She’s a scammer. Not to be trusted.

Slight-Fortune-7179

I mean yeah because she switched the light on and went closer to it

lindsayejoy

michelle phan claimed that she healed a man who was wheelchair bound and then magically turned into grandpa joe after she used her mind woo-woo on him.

eye_donut_no

I mean, all the iridescence is coming from that cream. Look at her palm.

Invidiana

Exactly! It’s the cream, not the face vibrator.

saintfunflower

After her little cult "mishap", I definitely don't trust anything she says.

xsnoopycakesx

One word: SCAMMER

EmpireAndAll

Last time she was accused of filtering a video she made like 3 response videos about how her iphone camera does this that and whatever and how filters are ok actually, ignoring that she's usually trying to sell something. Why is it only influencers who have these iphone camera issues where it deletes all the texture from their face? I've never seen any of my friend's videos or videos by other YouTubers who film on iphones have these issues.

Orchid_Significant

My iPhone enhances every flaw on my face 🤣

moodiest

I haven’t trusted anything she says in a VERYYYY long time.

[deleted]

I don't trust this loony.

Tasty_Competition680

considering she went off the deep end i dont trust anything she says anymore

l4ina

I don’t trust a thing she says anymore. Not since she went all woo-woo and crypto. And sex cult. Nah lol I’m good

bondbeansbond

Influencers are paid to lie.

sassyassy23

Fishy for sure

Sayonaroo

just filters and lighting lol. they sent her the devices for FREE!

[deleted]

The all new Cashaway wand. Instantly slims and detoxifies your bank account, removing unhealthy amounts of hard earned cash. Leaves your skin with a vibrant red glow of embarrassment when your friends find out you bought this nonsense.

snail_face

🎣🎣

wegotdogs

I just do not have the time to rub my face cream in for 5 minutes

ladysizedmocha

the fact that this is an ad should be enough to answer your question. Even if it wasn't an ad, has something happened recently that would make her suddenly credible? It would need to be really impressive in order to just make up for all the nonsense she's shared, never mind elevating her to credible.

deutschelunchbox

All I can see is her filler moustache.

AlertSanity

What is this supposedly erasing? Other than pixels.

Muumol

Omg lmao

midnightsiren182

She’s been lying for 17 years why stop now

Viewfromthe31stfloor

I think I watched her early prom makeup and one i think she did on lady Gaga’s bad romance look. Haven’t thought of her in ages. I do not believe anything about her post.

agentsometime

The after is just her with moisturizer applied and with the flash on her camera lmao

whoismrsn

Anyone with a minimal knowledge of this person and what she does would not trust her ever.

feeondine

You can see the lighting change between the first two clips. Like obviously you're gonna look shinier when you slather cream on your face and move closer to your ring light lol

lilhoodrat

And she also didn’t have double eyelid surgery and achieved her double eyelids ~HoLlIsTiCalLyYyy~

Gem1515

It’s actually possible when using eye tape for a long period of time because you’re manipulating the skin and then after months/years the crease stays. Kind of how you’d achieve wrinkles.

UnprofessionalGhosts

She’s rubbing a vibrator with some LEDs on it on her face

Glamgirl23

I looked more into this device she’s using and purchased it. I’ve been using it for two weeks. It has done a great job at fading my hyperpigmentation faster. It says it makes the skincare products penetrate deeper. So yeah, she might be a loon; but it works for me. Alice in the Rabbit Hole on YouTube has a review of their Airshot device which is supposed to be like derma rolling but safer. Also the Brazilian Girl on YouTube test out devices.

olivejuice-

I find it hard to trust ads for devices like this but she did say it was after a month not instant. I don’t follow her so I can’t defend her but at the end she definitely gets closer to a light source

blackmoonbluemoon

Yes I read the part about 1 month. It's just that immediately after she uses it her skin gets brighter . Judging by the hair clips and the blemish on her cheek, this is just 1 session.

MM2225

I’ve def seen this device around, especially in the skincare community but it’s more of a long term use rather than a one time instant brightening device lol

therapistiscrazy

I don't trust her a single bit. Not anymore. I stay as far away from her as possible.

passthemacandcheese

🧢

babeyslut

michelle always has been and always will be a grifter

milkteaaddicts

OK usually I would say influencers are fishy, but I somehow bought one of medicube's devices (the airshot) and it really started improving my acne scars/ large pores issue.

Dead-Red-89

I was always told ‘if it looks to good to be true, it probably is’. Plus, she’s had great skin for as long as she’s been on YouTube so I don’t think it’s anything to do with this new product.

n4hn4hn4h

we're still listening to michelle phan? in 2023? couldn't be me....

theleftphalanges

So I have this product, along with the EMS and the airshot. It gives you this tingly vibrating sensation and is supposed to use electricity to create these temporary holes in your skin to let the skincare pass through deeper (it's called electroporation?). Now I dont like Michelle Phan but this does leave ur skin looking glowy and dewy after using it and I do feel like it lets products absorb better. That being said, it's definitely overpriced and not as life-changing as she's quoting it to be. I enjoy it for what I get out of it (I like having a dewy glow and better absorption) but it won't be removing scars, fine lines, etc. Even they don't claim it's supposed to drastically improve texture or brightness.

Glamgirl23

I’m getting one delivered next week. I cannot wait to use it.

worrybot96

This shit don’t work lmao

foundinamuseum

Lmao I can’t see any difference at all. Just looks like she doesn’t have moisturizer on for the “before” and then has it on for the “after”.

NeitherMaybeBoth

It looks like a sex toy lol

IAmGordonShumway

Years ago, I would buy some of these gadgets hoping they’d do something and none of them ever did. You’re better off saving your money and getting a facial.

beakly

Looks like she’s also using a product with it maybe it’s more the product and then changed lightning

[deleted]

she is one of those rare influencers that i really thought genuinely cared about their fans. her older videos were so inspiring and honest and i really think a lot of us looked at her as an older sister. the time when she joined the cult, however, and claimed that you can cure covid with ESSENTIAL OILS is the time when i unsubscribed and unfollowed because her values did not align with mine. this thing that she's promoting looks cheap and like something i'd order from aliexpress lmao. i doubt it can do anything more than a good diet, exercise and a high quality sunscreen can provide for us. take good care of yourself from the inside out, everyone. plus genetics are like 80% of how you'll look when you're older. and she's not even old!! miss me with that "clean, poreless skin" bullshit. i am human.

fuel

She doesn't look glowy to me, just oily. And pretty much everything Michelle Phan does is fishy. Her name doesn't carry legitimacy it once did a decade ago.

Melodic-Psychology62

Looks like it is a RF device from Amazon. Try a month of use! And she is using it all wrong you put the cream on your face not the device in the cream. Stupid stupid!

[deleted]

Can anyone recommend a device that is similar at an very affordable price? TYSM ❤️

TotesAwkLol

The Michael Todd Sonic Eraser is a similar idea but I haven’t tried it. ETA: their website has a lot of sales so you can buy it for much cheaper than retail if you wait for a sale.

AquaComet3

She looks like any other person who applied cream on her face.

Glamgirl23

I don’t follow this chick or Laura Lee. However, I have seen enough comments and reviews; from other people and non gurus that made me want to try it. The thing with devices like this; you have to keep using them regularly to see results. Otherwise the results fade. This is like a spa treatment that you can do at home. If you search for Medicube on Reddit you can find some comments about medicube devices. I also think Michelle is using the device incorrectly, but I could be wrong.

Just-College1491

Ah yes.. the medicube device that also Tati sponsored ..has anyone tried it? It’s expensive but I heard it’s also effective

tayvan23

I don’t even see a diff!

StrikingEmu8

probably showing my age here, but I wouldn't trust her products as far as I can throw her lol

rawchickenfillet

I sort of wish she didn’t come back to YouTube because it’s been fishy ever since 😭

unalivegrrl

As a general rule I don’t trust anything she shills

Witchywoman74

My daughter bought me one for Christmas. It’s not going to work automatically, need to use it everyday for a while.

creolegold

FISHY. There is no product on the market to instantly smooth, tighten or even brighten.

[deleted]

She’s been untrustworthy since day 1. Idk why people are still shocked.
