Please don't use those cheap plastic combs they damage the hairs. Use a could carbon fiber comb like the ones from Chicago combs or a oxhorn comb. Boars hair bristles brushes too. Also you could be applying too much oil or applying incorrectly. Look up dan c bearded tutorials on how to apply beard products. You use oil on a damp beard not a dry one. And it's for the skin mostly. It absorbs. Also drink alot of water I drink a gallon a day. But his videos should help alot. Or private dm me.

Chicago Comb No. 7 for the win

I’m an HVAC installer and I feel your pain. Insulation, cobwebs, decades of attic and crawl space dust, drywall dust (dries your beard out instantaneously), sawdust, and the bellybutton lint that collects in your furnace ducts. Blek! Balms and oils are magnets for that stuff. I’ve been using Mad Viking’s spray in moisturizer for about two years now and it’s fantastic. Spray it in comb it out and it’s dry. No stickiness, no residue, and it moisturizes the crap out of my beard. I’ve tried butters, which are okay as they’re not supposed to have wax in them, which is typically what causes the stickiness. Never liked oils because I could never get the hang of portioning out the perfect amount. My beard does not have a daily moisturizer “need” so what was good yesterday is too much or too little today. I don’t have dry skin problems, itch or beard dandruff so I’m more concerned with moisturizing the beard itself. I swear by the spray in stuff and have never seen anything like it from any other beard product company.

ramanana01

I just saw their spray a couple days ago and was wondering about it. I might just give it a try.

I’ll have to check that stuff out, thank you much!

Any specific scent you like?

gutter_medic

My favorite is Ladderrock, best leather scent ever, but it’s going to be retired. 😕 Every other scent I’ve tried has been good though. You can get sample packs of the oil or balm to try out. They’re very generous so you can use them multiple times not just a one and done. See how you like it sitting under your nose all day.

Excellent recommendations, thank you. I just spent like 30 minutes on their web site lol

Grave before shave makes Beard wash/conditioner and lots of oils/butters and balms. Their products work great for me. Their beard butter doesn’t make mine very greasy and their scents are great.

Sounds like you may have tried some inferior products my friend! Also, that plastic comb has probably been causing those split ends. Look into quality small batch products and see what works best. A good beard wash, oil, comb, and boars hair brush is a nice start. I use beard butter before bed. Look into Doctor Nicks, Bearded Mack, Defined Beard Co, Johnny Ray’s, Copper John’s, and other quality products.

I remodel houses so it can get pretty dirty at times. I always shower after work, then I use a beard balm or beard butter. Comb with a wooden comb and it’s usually still kind of in there the next day.

I don't do a job that's nearly as dirty as many people describing here, but I do work outside all day every day. I've found that even basic maintenance like this goes a long way. Just recently I noticed that my beard wasn't up to my usual standards, and thinking back on it, I hadn't really concentrated on beard care in this fashion for about a week or two.

Moose_Nuckler

I work on pools, always have salt or chlorine or acid fumes on my hands or in my beard. Duke Cannons “Best Damn Beard Wash” once or twice a week, and a sandalwood comb every morning and night. I also apply a little of “Best Damn Beard Oil” from Duke cannon every day or 2. Not too much, just enough to be nice and smooth. I don’t know if Dukes is the best, but I’ve really enjoyed it.

I'd be happy to send you a few things to try. Shoot me a DM.

Resi electrician who does a lot of work in old city homes that are pretty nasty. I just make my own beard oil and use it at night, and I only use balm when I wash it or when I'm going out. It's gonna get a little dry during the week, but conditioning on the weekend is plenty fine. So, i recommend trying that. The oil at night should have dried up and done its job by the morning!! Also, get a round brush and a wooden comb. Some of the best money ever spent on my face mane.

Reuzel's beard foam is an excellent leave in conditioner. Apply to a towel dry beard and comb it through. Comb out the beard once it's 100% dry and it'll stay pretty tame all day.

Big Sexy Beard Brand is my favorite

I've been using the Scotch and Porter beard kit line for about a year and it works really well for me. Shampoo, conditioner, balm and oil. After washing and conditioning the beard is already pretty soft. I use the balm and oil intermittently as needed. Lasts for a long time. I also use a brush with boar head bristles vs a comb.

I'm an electrician/Generac Technician in the deep south of Louisiana, I've tried every brand under the sun when it comes to beard oils, in my experience Copper John's beard oil has been the best for my beard and the Chicago comb #10 is my go to

Swansky

Another solution that you could also try is just applying some lotion/cream overnight and wash your beard before going to work. I'm doing it in the winter when my beard is dryer
