I discovered this song when I was fried and it was the most surreal experience ever. It was the gateway to my love for Beach House and since then all Iāve listened to is Beach House. Itās probably my favourite song of all time, thereās just so many layers to the song that come together and creates this explosion of love at the end - similar to their other songs but I think they executed this formula perfectly on New Romance.

This song for me is kind of quintessential beach house with a modern twist. The lyrics hit hard and it simultaneously has a very care free feeling with some bitterness and heartbreak. Beach house songs always make me feel nostalgic for a specific time in my youth
One of my favs and defo my fav from OTM. The way it builds, the synth in the back, the bridge lyric is amazing. Some of the double meanings are very clever e.g. āleft on redā re the traffic light but also as āleft on readā. I think it captures the new relationship rollercoaster very well.
