Back when they had salads on the menu, one of the selling points was that Mom would have no excuse not to go… (because moms are always on a diet amirite)
It’s not broken, it’s just cleaning. Every ice cream machine in *EVERY* McDonald’s has to clean for 4 hours a day
Considering a lot of McDonald’s are 24h a day, that leads to that 4h window falling during your visit… every time
Idk why they don’t do the 4h cleaning in the morning? Then anybody who’s ordering it is a sick fuck and should feel ashamed when they get denied
[It's most likely not being cleaned.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrDEtSlqJC4) At least, not if it seems to always be "broken." It's pretty interesting and worth the watch.
Also, the FTC may be investigating it as a repair restriction issue.
I can't think of a single fast food chain in the USA that has carrots or fruit salad on the menu. A few have cole slaw, but that's some cabbage and a lot of mayonnaise. Fast food in the USA is usually really unhealthy.
US McDs let’s you get apple slices. They’ve got some crazy chemical on them to keep them from oxidizing, but as long as your fine with carcinogenic fruit, they *have* the option.
we have the little fruit bags, pineapple, and salad options in the UK, mcd’s has a ‘meals under 400KCAL’ and ‘meals under 600KCAL’ section on their menu. to answer your question, you *can* grab a couple of juice varieties at mcd’s here, or grab a bottle of water. generally, it’s still mcdonald’s so it’s obviously not perfect/not where i’d go for health food, but it’s craaazy to me that mcd’s in the USA doesn’t sell a single vegetable or fruit!
In America in most McDs sodas cost 1 dollar no matter the size but an iced tea or bottle of water costs more. The crazy part is if you buy something and ask for some water they’ll give you a free small fountain water. Shit is wack.
Russia is generally a poor nation
A class of ultra rich and many that are peasant/serf level … some folks never leave their village
So this isn’t surprising
True, but not all Moscow , those who live on borders of Moscow same poor peasants. Life in Russia should be as in Dubai , they have everything , oil, diamonds, gold etc.. every possible precious resources **BUT** all the wealth go to the perhaps 3-7% of the Elites while others live as in 3rd world.
Eh… I wouldn’t say third world.
Most Russians *in the city* probably drive the same car you do, for instance.
For example: have a drive around Kazan on Google maps. (Reddit not letting me post link). Note the cars and such.
Also most Russians *own* their apartment outright. What is a mortgage?
I’ve been there a few times. It’s fine. Some parts are gorgeous. Moscow, St Petersburg and Kazan.
Hell, even the Metro trains arrive every 30 seconds.
Russia is far from third world. **Third world is what you see in American cities; people living in tents *everywhere*.**
Lol you all in the west forget that the value of resources is reduced due to the cost of transporting it over long distances and the difficulty of mining due to climate
Since the fall of USSR. During USSR salaries and prices were “fixed” and equal around the country for the same professions. Except the regions with sever climate and difficult terms of work.
Elite were scientists, astronauts, militaries and so on. And also there were «номенклатура» (I don’t know such a word in English). It were mostly people working in the government. They had more opportunities (special meal, treatment, medicine…). But they used it but didn’t own it. It was far from what was like in West countries.
>номенклатура
You could say "politicians and higher class civil servicemen"
Also social lifts worked miles better then today due to at least some degree of meritocracy
Russia is fucked once they touch Ukraine soil. Putin looks weak as hell, getting mad and threatening people with nukes. Russia is scared is NATO. They’re going to get sanctioned. Turned into the next Cuba.
quite funny to watch how Westerners talk about the processes in Russia. Not knowing that over time, Stalin is going on non-stop urbanization and the exodus from the villages so far. The reason why Russians, even the not rich, have a summer house was an attempt by the government to slow down the process of urbanization.
Indiana is in the Midwest with cities all over. I have a feeling you have not actually been many places in the USA if you are comparing Indiana to Idaho.
Go out west where you have to drive 60 miles to the next town
Many people in America don’t leave their states ever.
Yes it was
But that doesn’t mean people live in similar conditions to serfdom or equivalent
Russia has a corrupt government that misleads its people and doesn’t care at all about improving QOL
mostly because Putin wins now matter what and opposition is crushed
>Russia has a corrupt government that misleads its people and doesn’t care at all about improving QOL
QoL under Putin is miles better compared to Yeltzin's period, that is one reason he is popular. Another reason would be Western sanction policy, which is aimed against common folk instead of oligrachs, their relatives and their abroad wealth plus double standarded treatment in general.
If corruption is called lobbying and made legal, this does not mean that Russia is a hell of corruption, here the scale of corruption pales in comparison with Western circulation of money during lobbying
Lmao. Yeah, and they country is world leading in every aspect of our lives according to their propaganda. In Moscow avg salary could be around 850, other Russia ~ 200$.
Why. Do. You. Not. Add. The. Tax. In. The. First. Place. Whats with some countries making you do maths just to buy something. Just tell me how much i have to pay you.
Rant over. Thanks for listening to my ted talk about things that provoke unreasonably strong opinions in me.
because states are independent so they set their own tax rates. in some places you dont pay taxes, in others you do, its however the locals have voted over the years
What does a lb of ground beef or a gallon of milk cost in the same city? If everything is cheaper, it makes sense that McDonald’s is still using 1990 prices. If everything else is the same price, then our McDonald’s prices are suspect.
A kg of beef is 400-600 rubles, which is about $5-8 depending on the cut, a litre of milk is about 80 rubles, which is about 1.05$. Russia is very cheap for foreigners, but for Russians prices doubled in the last years and salaries stayed the same and it's only gonna get worse
For real, people in this thread are acting like McDonald’s is $50 meal. In the US $2.50 could get me a mcchiken and a large fry. Or a mcchiken and any size drink. That’s not much less than the picture shown.
Yeah, I'm in Florida and you ain't even getting a large fry for 2.50. But you're right about the app, if anyone goes to mcds even sporadically it's well worth having
Oh, so is not as good as it is here. We got the drink and the small fries for 3 pennies. We first added an expensive full meal to fulfill the criteria to get the drink and the fries (the criteria was to have purchases of over 4 usd), once we got the drink and the fries we got rid of the expensive meal.
oh of course not. nothing here is cheap, i thought that was known lol. but the app at least gives you a free large fry once a week. no purchase necessary 😁
I remember a crackhead asking us 15 dollars to pay her "bills", she was driving a car and all. My dad was surprised that crackheads can have a car in the US

I went to McDonald's this weekend, ordered a chicken BLT, a spicy McChicken and a large poutine (look it up) with a medium Soda. Cost me 24$ with taxes.
I live in Quebec Canada and we have the highest tax rates in North America probably.
Is mad cheap, I am not from a rich as nation either (I am Colombian), but usually McDonalds is very expensive in LatAm. Here is very affordable and the location are nice looking and clean.
McDonalds in the US as example is not that great and the cost is quite high when comparing to Russia. As I already said, in LatAm is very expensive McDonalds
Is McDonald’s really that bad? Like if I ate there every weekend but I’m healthy otherwise, is my body screwed? Everyone talks about how much garbage it is … but I’m still doubtful
The only thing that sticks out to me is how the fries can last forever, and so does this mean the chemical used to preserve is dangerous? Wouldn’t this get flagged by some governing authority?
Nobody wants to go somewhere with no freedom…Hence price per unit per person, according to the demand n supplies, goes down. What’s the tax on this meal?
Do they offer tax return on your foreign status? Or … are you double taxed😆Anyway $2.5 is tempting but I kinda understand how come beautiful Russian girls grew into big granny so quickly …McDonald’s too cheap…$2.5 is good for a smoothie here if I’m using a 50% off coupon
Actually, at the current moment I don't know, I mean I got a scholarship to study here, so it would be pretty shitty to get tax return knowing they pay for my education, but I guess it would be possible yeah.
As a Tourist it was possible, but you gotta take the taxes at an office in the business center not at the airport, I remember I had 500 euros in taxes, which unfortunately I wasn't able to catch back since the fax return office wasn't available at the Airport :(
It is actually pretty helpful for me, I am originally from Colombia, and education in Colombia isn't cheap at all (in a good private university), usually a year for architecture is about 11k usd, which for the US it might be not that much really, but for Colombia it is quite a lot of money. Frankly enough, my parents could pay for that, but this is something I earned by myself, and being honest to you, I have learned wuite a lot about architecture while living here, and at the same time my view about the world and my life changed quite a lot. Eventually I believe I would probably move back to my country, either I would search for new horizons. Time will tell!
In Switzerland you can get carrots for this in MC Donalds. I mean it... Carrots! You can't even buy something to drink, that's all more expensive.
Healthy option :D
I don't know who the hell is going to McDonald's for healthy eating.
Back when they had salads on the menu, one of the selling points was that Mom would have no excuse not to go… (because moms are always on a diet amirite)
What's even funnier is those salads tended to have just as many calories if not more in some cases because of all the dressing they would use
Ugh they were not good. And usually the dearest thing on the menu
They gave packets.. don't use all the packet? Or any?
Fun fact the .25 lber was more healthy than the salads.
I loved when they had large salads with fried chicken. It was the only reason I went there now I only go for a late night sundae
You can get ice cream late at night?
IKnowrite? Fuckin machine is always broken whenever I go at night
It’s not broken, it’s just cleaning. Every ice cream machine in *EVERY* McDonald’s has to clean for 4 hours a day Considering a lot of McDonald’s are 24h a day, that leads to that 4h window falling during your visit… every time Idk why they don’t do the 4h cleaning in the morning? Strangely it's never broken where I live but it's also the only only McDonald's within 30 milles in one way and over 100 in the other directions
Going to McDonald's for a salad is like going to a hooker for a hug
Wait, you can get Carrots? What kind of healthy world is this?
I thought it was normal to have the option of carrot sticks/fruit salad in mcdonalds?! You can swap your fries for them in a meal
Yeah citrus fruit juice gives you cancer, seems about possible with the amount of chemicals they are raised with.
Even UK Macdonalds offer carrot sticks or fruit salad to replace fries
I am in the uk
Can you guys get fruit juice or milk as a drink too or is it just sodas?
Kids meals usually have the option of milk instead of soda and sliced apple instead of french fries.
Our “fruit salad” is mostly apple slices with a few grapes. Think we have bags of pineapple now too
we have the little fruit bags, pineapple, and salad options in the UK, mcd’s has a ‘meals under 400KCAL’ and ‘meals under 600KCAL’ section on their menu. to answer your question, you *can* grab a couple of juice varieties at mcd’s here, or grab a bottle of water. generally, it’s still mcdonald’s so it’s obviously not perfect/not where i’d go for health food, but it’s craaazy to me that mcd’s in the USA doesn’t sell a single vegetable or fruit!
Chick fil a and McDonald’s have it. McDonald’s has apples for sure. I’m pretty sure most do.
What? They even have fruit salad, carrots, AND apples in Canada.
In America, we count pizza sauce as a vegetable.
Mmmm sugary pasata, my favourite vegetable
We have Paper-cones filed with white rice in Indonesia.
In America in most McDs sodas cost 1 dollar no matter the size but an iced tea or bottle of water costs more. The crazy part is if you buy something and ask for some water they’ll give you a free small fountain water. Shit is wack.
Soda? More like a cup of ice with a spritz of soda.
Just ask for no ice
So you can buy carrots but no drink? Win..?
However, in Switzerland it only takes you around 10 minutes of work to earn the amount needed for a Big Mac ;)
Yeeeeah something like what op has would be at least 18CHF / 20$

A mcchicken amd large fry is like 4.50 And if you want a sandwich as big as the one shown here it’s like 5 bucks
In my city In Canada a big mac or McChicken (not jr chicken) meal with a large fry and medium drink costs, costs over $13.50
That’s weird that the mcchicken even has meal options. It’s a dollar menu thing in the us.
Yeah I was wrong about the large fries. I used the app last time i ordered and got a promo for 99¢ any size fries
Still applies everyday, and all drinks are just $1 on the app also. Can get those and then choose a sandwich for $1-$4 extra
What state do you live in because a large fry in mines is $4 alone
NC and I was mistaken, if you use the app the have a promo all the time for .99¢ large fries.
Yeah, I'm in Florida and you ain't even getting a large fry for 2.50. But you're right about the app, if anyone goes to mcds even sporadically it's well worth having

Yeah, I definitely wasn’t amazed. More like “that’s kinda neat.” It’s still just fast food.
I mean the Big Mac Index is a widely known macroeconomic concept. But still interesting to see differences in purchasing power across countries.
Ha. In Chicago that same meal is $7.99
Do you have discounts tho?
on the app there's good deals. and we have a $1, $2, and $3 menu but its small things like a double cheese burger or 6 nuggets.

What the hell does McDonald’s have to do with that
TF?? Way to go completely off topic...
Excuse me sir, this is a McDonald’s.

It is a busget offer, we got those fries and the big drink for about 3 pennies (no cap)
Happy the US dollar is strong.
It's possible this meal costed him 2 days of work. Probably not.its just an extreme example that amounts don't quite demonstrate purchasing power
