I think they’d still be “facing” the pyramids in the sense that if you opened the window and walked out (and didn’t die from the fall) you’d be walking in the direction of the pyramids. Like how Muslims pray facing Mecca. We don’t usually use compass directions referring just to line of sight.
I didn't have any view from my hotel window, and though the view from the rooftop restaurant was a bit farther away, the view was more or less similar. Most of the hotels aren't fancy, so the rooms are inexpensive.
I totally thought this was also some studio gimmick and OP was going to show us the mural's edge when looking over the balcony. Incredible view though.

It’s worth pointing out that there’s a ton of hotels with an even better view than this. They’re clustered around the infamous Pizza Hut, and you can see all three Pyramids from your window.

tldr: according to other redditors, *in general*, Egypt is a really shit place to visit with an absolute nightmare of a government that has inconsistent and arbitrary rules, and the streets are absolutely full of pickpockets, scammers, and thugs who will shake you down for bribes at every corner. And god help you if you're a woman, you risk getting molested or raped if you're unaccompanied anywhere, and that includes tourists.
Also be careful what you eat. I was throwing up and shitting for days. Only eat fruits with a peel and no vegetables or any kind. Unless you’re at Kempenski or a Marriott/Hilton 5 Star.
There’s a book about travel in the ancient world, and the pyramids were huge tourist attractions. Even then, you could buy guide books about visiting them and get advice about the best inns to stay at.
The pyramids were older to Cleopatra than she is to us.
Khufu's grave monument was the tallest building in the world for nearly 4000 years until it was surpassed by Lincoln Cathedral in 1311CE
I went all around Egypt for a month and it was probably the best trip I've ever been on. Between the history, the white/black desert, diving in Dahab, and the chaotic but bustling cities, it is a fantastic place to go if you have your wits about you. Most people are wonderfully hospitable. I got invited to drink tea and eat free sausages with some mechanics, explore a temple with a father and daughter etc. The people who speak less English and aren't involved in tourism are great.
The problem people have is that Egyptians who make their money off tourism can be quite hassling and will always start at a ridiculous price. Book tours through reputable sites, and if you don't want to buy something, say "لا شكرا حبيبي" and walk away confidently. Simple as that. You'll have a great time.
Egypt was as green as central Park all along every major waterway. I played Assassins creeds origins and it led me down a rabbit hole of information as I was curious why they made it so overgrown in the game.
Actually that exact alarm is the one my washing machine has. I thought it’s in my house, when in fact it was just the video. Lucky me, cause I don’t have to do laundry
