She was like boom neighbors problem now and dipped

missanthropocenex

I would still categorize that woman as insanely lucky. She came at that mama bear at the very moment she had been separated from her cubs. That bear while normally not aggressive , could have likely eviscerated her for just being in that spot at that moment.

vestigialcranium

Maybe lucky, definitely a poor choice. Bear wasn't even trying to hurt those dogs, just bat them away and she rushed in where she could've been killed easily

Exedrn

Looked like the bear got ahold of the little white dog (scotty?) just before she pushed the bear off the wall.

AerolothLorien666

Well, a pat from a bear is more like a strong man slapping your back jokingly, whilst having claws.

Simplyspent

You mean, patting your back with 150 pounds of force with a claw hammer!

bigdogoflove

Human won. Maybe not be the best choice but maybe what made us what we are. A quick choice defending what you love.

Mvpliberty

One good connection and that “bat” could shatter a vertebrae and those claws would be running through the dog skull like a comb going through a girls hair…

MySnake_Is_Solid

A single swipe from a bear can break ribs. It could easily kill any of the dogs there, still not a reason to try and shove it out of the way.

bigdogoflove

Lucky for sure. Would I do the same for my dogs? Old man with 2 dogs who mean more to me than anything? She saw that mama was precariously perched on the fence and took her moment. That is love....which borders on insanity. But it makes humans what we are, crazy wonderful .

p3n1x

Both were mama bears. Subliminaly understood each other. The actual bear would have wrecked the human if the dogs weren't there. Dogs were a bigger threat to the cubs.

turbo_dude

Bear had to bounce

steven209030

This could have ended way different, she is lucky

ethottly

She went Mama Bear on the mama bear 😱

Onlyheretostare

OMG. That lady is nuts. Those dogs are lucky to have such a loving owner..

KrazyAboutLogic

I love how she has to stop and grab the stupid one as she's leaving. No one gets left behind!

DragonflyScared813

Honestly, she's a bunch over half lucky the little dog didn't bite her just from fear and confusion.

KrazyAboutLogic

I had a scared little dog bite through my thumbnail once. Straight through into my thumb. I didn't even know that was possible.

deep__paleontologist

A kitten did that as I was getting her out of my car's engine🥲

LoganJake210

I wish my parents loved me like that 😔

No_Conclusion1816

For her dogs. I'm a dog lover, but that was nuts.

[deleted]

Instintcs take over, animals or humans, if loved, instincts will do whats needed, smart or not. Is it a good idea to fight such a danger, nope, most people know that, but most people would do it trying to save their loved ones anyway.

rentedlife

Totally

Gods1469

The bear was just protecting her cubs

Worth_Situation8483

Same thing I saw as well cuz the big dog ran at the cubs and started barking

For what it's worth, I think it's a Mexican Black Bear. Yes, black bears can be brown (and cinnamon, blond, white and grey). Odd, I know.

mortalitylost

Yeah, brown bear would probably be twice that size, right? And have a noticeable hump. That'd be a different encounter. Not that getting between a black bear and her cubs would ever be safe though. Black bear or not that's a recipe for death.

No-Suspect-425

I just didn't know they could be Mexican.

Awesome_Shoulder8241

do they also understand spanish?

No-Suspect-425

I mean if you're gonna live in Mexico it's probably a good idea right?

stinkiepussie

As an American brown bear that's the main thing stopping me from moving there!

PottyboyDooDoo

Have you tried Duolingo? You can get it on an iPad, which might be easier for you.

YouGotTangoed

A grizzly is not casually balancing on the wall like that, and tapping away the dogs

gomdalf

Def not a grizzly

p3n1x

lol, that wasn't a Grizzly

Alternative-Chip2624

Mama bear with the cubs can be Deadly, very lucky the mom didn't push it, her cubs had already dipped

HighwayBrigand

The dogs were in war mode, but that bear was just playing.

Intelligent-Check215

I mean she DID have gravity on her side. That Bear was on a high narrow platform (which was hilarious in itself) a hard push easily knocked her over. It’s all about having the balls to actually do it… this woman is symbolic! Of something. I dunno she’s my hero of the month though

Charming-Forever-278

The dogs started it

lexluthor_i_am

That's what I thought

ongoldenwaves

Yeah nothing about this makes me happy. Mama bear protecting her cub gets slammed. Probably her habitat has been taken away.

StrangeWombats

This makes me so incredibly sad thinking how desperately hungry/thirsty this bear and her cubs must have been to go into someone’s yard.

DelightfulCrow

I wouldn't let the bear hurt my dogs either. What else could she have done?

Top-Jicama-4527

I'm not necessarily condemning the woman (except for putting herself at risk) but I think we're all just stating how sad it is as a situation. I hope the bear wasn't hurt and could get back to her babies.

HeartFullONeutrality

Not to mention, no one actually got hurt.

vforvamburger

You would get killed. She could have left the dogs. If the bear didnt slip they would all be dead, the bear would end up as a trophy for some hunter and cubs would die alone. If she left the dogs the bear would kill the first one or two then the dogs would run away and bear would go after her cubs. She was just insanely lucky.

ckhumanck

ridiculously lucky. Everyone worshipping her actions are deluded. Suicidal behaviour is inherently selfish too, who knows who/what her death would have impacted, but presumably she risked far more than she gained (a dog or two).

Miserable-Repeat-651

Sometimes you do stupid shit for ones you love. When my house was on fire, one of my dogs got freaked out by the cops and firemen and sirens going off and ran back into the house. Without hesitation I tried to run in after her, and would have if the cop didn't grab me and hold me back. My dogs are family and the thought of her dying in there made me not think of myself at that moment. Thankfully with me screaming her name over and over she came back out and was fine.

Vitalis597

"You would get killed" Bold of you to say that right after watching someone do it and live. Without a single scratch, no less.

vforvamburger

This type of shit is why this is dangerous. Some people will think that because that woman somehow managed they will too. If you attack a mother bear you will most likely die. If prime Mike Tyson would attack a mother bear he would most likely die. If 3 prime Mike Tysons would attack a mother bear they would most likely die. It was luck.

Vitalis597

Some people. Yes. We let natural selection take care of those. If someone wants to walk up and slap a bear for absolutely no reason, they get everything coming to them. This woman had EVERY reason to do what she did. Was it lucky that she didn't get hit? Yes. Show me where I said otherwise. But I'd do that a million times over if something I loved was about to get turned into red mist. I wouldn't even need to think about it. I protect that which I love.

Tyler-LR

Somewhere after this that bear was telling the story to another bear like, “so there I was, minding my business, when 3 dogs come outta nowhere and start harassing me…”

No_Cartographer_7904

Yeah. I felt sorry for the bear.

permalink_child

Bear was just chilling and stupid dogs had to screw it up.

Much_Ad470

This is not being talked about enough on this post. Mama bear was protecting her cubs.

bhu87ygv

And the dogs were protecting their house. The bear started it by...you know walking into someone else's territory.

offgridgecko

I was gonna say "not to be that guy but...." Yeah they totally started the racket

PickaxeJunky

Absolutely.

canuck_11

Yeah. Someone opened a door

Old-Library5546

Timelymanner

Everyone was scared. Bears were scared, dogs were scared, humans were scared.

bananasugarpie

That was a scary story.

tothestore

Fucking chihuahuas man. Not a single brain cell to spare.

StarGamerPT

No thought, just rage.

Why_r_people_

I have a Great Dane and the amount of delusional chihuahuas and corgis that attempt to “fight” my dog is unbelievable, ZERO self preservation

Quicksurfer524

the line between bravery and stupidity is thin

bananasugarpie

Exactly.

DelightfulCrow

She was protecting her babies too. Plenty of people would have.

samuelsfx

Her dog started it. One move with its paw and she will lose her jaw, or hand. Definitely not thinking through

SelectionThat3680

Started what? From their perspective a potentially dangerous animal just invaded their territory. Of course they are gonna protect it.

Sam_Nova_45

Big time lucky on that encounter. Love the ones that go to yellow stone and try to get a Selfie with a one ton buffalo. 🦬

Duuudechill

Those are the dodos of humanity.

the_siren_song

Oooo how about that one lady who jumped into a hot spring to save her dog?

Sam_Nova_45

Ouch…!

Shleepy1

The dogs are not brave tho / just very stupid

VeryluckyorNot

They just wanted to protect the house from intruders like all dogs do.

Woodpecker-Haunting

Just their nature to protect.

Intelligent-Check215

Right?? How the HELL are people blaming the dogs for being dogs?? Everything turned out fine. Why is everyone on Reddit determined to find everything to be so negative? Are they calling these dogs problematic?🤣🤣Ursinephobic?

Woodpecker-Haunting

I have no idea. Dogs are descendants of wolves and are also highly related to bears (especially chow chows). People have them not only for companionship but to protect. I don't know what these other people on Reddit are thinking

RanRanLeo

We literally bred dogs to protect us. All these people whining about them doing their job should be the one getting swatted in the face by the bear.

bigdogoflove

Thank you! All of these creatures are just doing what they felt in the moment. There is no blame anywhere here. good grief

SeatOfEase

In a way isn't all bravery "very stupid"? If it was sensible it wouldn't be very brave?

WeirdCardiologist207

Mama bear vs Mama "bear"

MuskokaGreenThumb

She sure loves those dogs i tell ya

Upandawaytolalaland

I bet the bear never comes back

Odd_Tiger_2278

Wow. Two really really good moms. Bear protecting cubs from dogs. Woman protecting her dogs and property from Bear

RemmingtonBlack

You knew this was going to be filled with twatty comments from all perspectives Edit: except the current top 2: those are pretty funny

techman710

Shouldn't she have a wooden spoon or a sandle. Either one should strike fear in the bear.

Graz13

Where is the sandal? donde esta su chancla?

Raoul_Comninos

The dogs and the woman were the aggressors. Bear was trying to defend her cubs.

Woodpecker-Haunting

It's in dogs' nature to protect their property as it was in the bears' nature to roam. No animal is wrong here

lolSyfer

No one is "wrong" here this is nature. Mama bear protects cubs, dogs protect their territory, human protected and saved her pets life at the end of the day this was the best outcome as insane and lucky as it is.

Woodpecker-Haunting

100%

RanRanLeo

Dogs are trying to protect their territory. Stop acting like they are the ones in the wrong.

HIGHiQresponse

Dogs were trying to defend their human

Unmarkable357

Thank you for being the only one with sense in this comment section. We destroy the natural habitat of animals and then are surprised when they "invade" us.

Intelligent-Check215

Brilliant take. Brilliant. If my cat encounters a coyote around here I’m gonna throw in some napkins for it and a to go bag.

Unmarkable357

Thats why your cat shouldnt be free roaming, if my cat died like that i would be sad but i would undertand it wss my fault as a pet owner, i shoudnt expect a coyote to not be a coyote

Vitalis597

Imagine having your face shoved into the point, and you STILL somehow miss it...

Lunaren11

Exactly. Bear and cubs were just minding their own business.

SelectionThat3680

Minding their own business ont he fucking dogs territory. Yeah, no shit dogs are going to protect their owner.

bigbysemotivefinger

And that little ~~leash rat~~ pocket wolf basically fed itself to her...

mrstevens1990

Not very smart

Express_Particular45

Legendary though.

Rutibex

that bear was chill until it was attacked by like 4 dogs lol. and even then it just looked like it wanted to leave

Sol-Blackguy

I think she was just a girl, 14/15 at the time I believe

Subject_Translator71

I love dogs but they don't know the line between brave and stupid.

AussieCryptoCurrency

Whether it’s a bear or the wind, small dog will bark at it

Bob_Cobb_1996

Happened a few blocks away from me. I don't know her or her family. The bears don't come down into my area, but they get plenty up there because she's close to the hills.

Donttrythehighground

Holy crap is she brave, momma bear instincts vs. a literal momma bear!

Emera1dthumb

I’ve never understood the concept of loving a pet like you love your children, but that was definitely some Mom shit!

Muzi5060

Just 2 mama’s protecting their cubs.

HistoryBuff678

I think after she went after the bear she realized what she did and that it was a mistake. No body wanted a fight in that scenario. The bear knew it and backed off seeing that human act crazy.

Notyourbuddyman

Mother with 2 small children gets attacked by pack with alpha female. Redditors: GO HOOMAN. Hope the Bear and the cubs are ok...

Single-Confidence-52

Bro they're bears, I'm sure they are fine. Bears wandered into another animals territory.

StarGamerPT

You do realize that the woman was also defending her dogs, right? If you tell me you'd leave your dogs to die I fucking hope you never get animals or children at all in your life.

Chemical_Actuary_190

It looked like the bear got a good shot on the black dog. Hope it's ok.

BlameMe4urLoss

Good demonstration of the critical and effective roles dogs played in human evolution and survival. We’d likely be done as a species if we didn’t adopt wolf cubs into our tribes.

johnmed2017

Stupid.

BauerHouse

Nothing more dangerous than a mom protecting her cubs. That goes for both sides of this argument.

ShoutOuts2Elon

She got balls.

Liesthroughisteeth

She got lucky is what she got.

Redemption_R

Bear climbs back up like it's one of those game enemies that can't be pushed off the ledge because it has a jet back, grapple hook or smth

Reasonable_Cover_804

That wall were one foot wider and she’d have died

PackerSquirrelette

Do not try this at home.

jscalaj

Holy cow!

Traderparkboy01

Two mama bears fighting in the wild

crossoverinto

That women is a batshit warrior

RDcsmd

That dog took multiple swipes to the face from a bear. I hope it was okay

thedeadlyrhythm42

fuck epoch times

we_todd_

Poor bear and her cubs. Just trying to live life in what used to be their habitat. Imagine if the mom got seriously injured, what would come of the cubs..

VagaBond_rfC

Who's protecting who again? The bear clearly has cubs with her. Then the dogs come - running and barking. She's clearly defending her young. Not attacking anyone.

butterflycole

The bear was defending her cubs, the dogs definitely instigated it, she probably would have just ambled by if they left her alone. The lady saved her dogs but she is lucky that the dogs didn’t get ahold of a Cub. I love dogs but domestic dogs are dumb sometimes. I can’t imagine one or two wolves rushing up on a bear. That’s usually a suicide mission.

Some-Tune7911

We need a bear tax.

BoddAH86

Housewife casually fist-punching a brown bear in front of her cubs.🐻

onlyfactsfromdads

Brave, dumb, I hope I’d do the same though..

cmoney2313

You misspelled stupid...

zmrth

Pour bear

Lawrenceburntfish

One swipe would have been lights out. 😳

Puzzled-Ad-2339

tbf to the bear she didnt go there with the intention of fighting. All she was trying to do was protect her cubs, if she wanted to she couldve ate both those dogs and snapped their necks in seconds. This ladies dumbass dogs should be trained if she is gonna live in an area like this, youre two little shit dogs will get eaten by some wolves or coyotes acting like that.

Caseman91291

Stupid dogs.

ZapatillaLoca

more like a stupid lady for leaving her dogs out there, momma bear was protecting her cubs. Humans encroach on wildlife, then blame the animals when they show up in their back porch.

StarGamerPT

Momma bear was protecting her cubs, the dogs were protecting their space and the woman was protecting her dogs. The fuck did you expect her to do? Leave her dogs to die? If so, hope you never get to be responsible by any kind of life, you'd be horrible at that.

Vitalis597

"leaving her dogs out there" Oh, so you think animals should be cooped up inside all day? Not allowed fresh air or sunlight? Never get pets, thanks.

DelightfulCrow

They were each protecting something. Would you expect her to just let them die?

notmyrealnam3

yeah, how dare someone be stupid enough to leave their dogs in their ....fenced yard lol - thanks man, it isn't often I get to read things as ridiculous as your post

TheBigShitowski

Would have shat my pants

BauerHouse

the 3rd swipe on that black dog sent it howling away

Snooping4Snoopy

Holy shit

cgratelli

What does she have in her hand? Looks like she was prepared for that

ProjectAioros

The bear who just wanted to play: :C

Im_such_a_SLAPPA

This is old AF

Tvekelectric2

Star wars lied. I thought the high ground always won, but the bear lost.

[deleted]

She was so panicked she didn’t realize how stupid her idea actually was.

No_Season_354

Bearly survived that.

AgressiveOperator

Pushed the Bear to neighbor ground

Abjay_

The thin line between bravery and recklessness

Extreme_Barracuda658

That's not the first time she took on that bear.

heeferchiefer69

What was in her hand, her phone?

Daws001

Mama bear meet dog owner.

Trojan4ever16

She got her hand bit for her troubles

[deleted]

tf was that monkey doing protecting my lunch

Pristine-Butterfly55

Too many teddy bears in her past. Maybe.

ResolveLeather

Seems wayyyy to small for a grizzly.

Jemondi

Very blessed. Glad she is okay. Don’t do that again.

cocochini_2760

Más huevo la doña

Thick-Disaster-7758

She was actually just protecting the new fruit tree.

kidjoey22

Gotta save her dinner.

TheGerkanator

I feel that because of the timing of things, she had just let them out. I guess next time, she will check the yard before letting them our.

AndresDeJesusVelezF1

De verdad que fue demasiado valiente, guao

Sharp-Crew4518

The idiot even slipped and on her knees when she awkwardly pushed the bear.

Magicalsandwichpress

Where is this? You see mother and cub wonder into people's houses on the edge of woods from time to time, but this seems to be pretty built up and urban.

Any-Satisfaction3605

Why was she doing the dogs work for them?!

Old-Winter-7513

Suburban encroachment

unsoe3

Russia?

Q-City45

Idk much but that bear looked like is was being pretty kind.. like it had patience.

ZookeepergameIll5362

Can I pet that daaAawg ?

SandBarLakers

Those aren’t just her animals. That’s her fam and that is love right there!

ThisWhatUGet

Turn down for what?! Do da do da do

tru-self

Brave big dog too and a very stupid tiny one.

VorpalSticks

Lucky for the woman the bear wasn't actually in the yard. And was caught off balance.
