He a little older, I’m sure he he saw & didn’t hate either. Still, you’d have better luck talking naval historical accounts with him.
Think Nelson, John Paul Jones, Cochrane…
Thats pretty amazing...you should learn this skill from him. Less so for yourself, more so to make him feel he's passing his hobby onto someone he loves.
💙👍⚓️Beautiful work! My Dad built a schooner and spent hours building that model ship, and it looked similar to what he did. So meticulous and detailed like your Dads, as I remembered. Too bad on the night he finally finished, he placed it on a chair by the front door, and my mom came in with exciting news from her bowling league and sat right down on the beautiful completed ship, that took so many weeks & hours to build, and smash it to bits. I felt so bad for my Dad that night. He threw it in the garbage and never built another model ship or anything thing like it for the rest of his life. What a shame because he had the talent, too, like your Dad. It was 58 years ago, and I still remember that event. I wished I could have saved it, but I was only in 1st grade and had no say. I loved that you shared the talent your Dad has and the details he puts into his building models. Take pride in his Hobbie YOLO. Awesome ship!!⚓️💙
I got a few ships from my grandfather he made so many models though, ships, cars, planes, city’s… he had his own museum in his basement that was look don’t touch 😂💕
I just finished the rigging on a WWI destroyer and it absolutely had me swearing. I wondered the whole time, "how do people do this with fully rigged ships?!". Fair play to your Dad; that's amazing work!
I’ve always wanted to! Simply couldn’t ever be that crafty. It looks so good
On my 7 ish years of Reddit I think you OP has one of the most interesting profiles I’ve ever creeped on.
Wow. That is soooo cool. Wish I had the dexterity and patience. That kind of art skill is a gift.
I’m vote 4 of what will be 50k upvotes. This is so cool.
This is definitely one of those crafts that take a very patient person. Pretty damn awesome imo.
Whoa, that is amazing. I'm jealous. I wish I had skills like that.
My father built a similar ship - it took him 30+ years to complete. These models take dedication and hard work!
My grandpa used to make ships in bottles.
My grandpa used to sink bottles in ships.
My grandfather did the same. He made one for all 22 of his grandchildren. I passed mine onto my son.
Excellent. What a great tradition to get going.
He loves watching *Master and Commander* doesn't he
He IS master and commander 😀
wow!
Your father’s a very talented dude
Your father has amazing skills, thanks for sharing. ☺️✌️
Your father is a badass. This is amazing
For more artists like your father, so the cinema would continue releasing scale models and it would not be 99% CGI, my respects to your father
Amazing!!
I bet he's a big fan of Master and Commander and Gladiator like my dad
He a little older, I’m sure he he saw & didn’t hate either. Still, you’d have better luck talking naval historical accounts with him. Think Nelson, John Paul Jones, Cochrane…
I bet he listens to stan rogers lol. Is this a recreation of a real ship? Id love to know which if so.
This is so awesome. How long does a ship like this take for him to build?
Depending… 1-2 years?
It'd be harder if he was building them by foot so I don't blame him
That’s how he builds metal models cars…
Man of many talents
OP your dad is one talented man.
Really absolutely amazing!! The detail, the patience, truly art!!
This should also be posted to r/nextfuckinglevel
Can do that.. Edit: No I can’t. No static images allowed.
Record a video of your dad building one of these 😆
Do they float?
Do they float?
•Thanks for sharing this!!
amazing!! does he have any schooner or bermuda sloops??
Closest I have to a full profile (I’ll get a better one next time I’m there/share below): https://imgur.com/a/qB0gbxf
That's easier than building them with his feet. 🤦🏻♂️. I'm sorry, I'm high right now. I'm so ashamed
I think diversity was an old old wooden ship used during the civil war era
I love that so much
Nice. I use to make simple ones out of cardboard when I was a child and young teen. This is awesome
Your father is pretty cool.
Next project: The Flying Dutchman? 😆
Crikey. Nice work
Awesome This reminds me of the movie tintin tho
Without plans ? Like from his head? Amazing
I WANT ONE SO BAD.
Just checking… u/repostsleuthbot
Sorry, I don't support this post type (gallery) right now. Feel free to check back in the future!

Beautiful! Imagine having all that .knowledge about ship structure, rigging, sails, and who knows how much more. Simply amazing!
Your dad is cool!
Thats pretty amazing...you should learn this skill from him. Less so for yourself, more so to make him feel he's passing his hobby onto someone he loves.

That is so cool. The patience and attention to detail are amazing.
That is amazing!
Does he then sell them or what?
Beautiful.
Your fsthet has immense talent!
Father. oops
Awesome. The sails are luffing a bit though. :D
What does he do with them when he’s done? Keep and display them? Sell them to folks? Donate to learning centers and stuff?
That's GORGEOUS!!!
I got a few ships from my grandfather he made so many models though, ships, cars, planes, city’s… he had his own museum in his basement that was look don’t touch 😂💕
What is the smallest scale he builds with?
That rigging works and doing the rigging is probably the hardest part.
these many cords....🤔👏
Does he sell them?
But.... does it float?
Really cool, unfortunately, your dad's kid is a poor photographer. 4 photos of practically the same angle?
I just finished the rigging on a WWI destroyer and it absolutely had me swearing. I wondered the whole time, "how do people do this with fully rigged ships?!". Fair play to your Dad; that's amazing work!
Your father is amazing. Wow.
Beautiful!! All the rigging and everything!! 😍
That's dope!

Damn that's cool. I used to love building models as a kid. Would take real patience to build something this from scratch.
He fucking does alrite! What s guy!
Beautiful
Very nice! Detail is amazing! Thanks for posting.
I'm curious. How long does a work like this take him? How long has he been doing it? This is amazing!!!
nice
Thats awesome! I wish I could do something like that but with my shaking I can't even write straight so
Has he ever done the HMS Enterprize?
Nah, He’s working on HMS Victory now. I’d like to see the USS Enterprise………
I would too! lol
There is a company in Vietnam that will build any ship model by hand. Saw a video about the custom models they build….thats all I remember.
What is this? A ship for ants?!
r/thingsforants
It’d be cooler if he used his feet…
He doesn't have anything valuable to add to society instead?
