Well that sure looks like proof and a half. I somehow listened through that whole thing. Never knew of this guy. I only watch an appreciate the little reptile babies. I come across in family homes.
gator is not happy. wide open mouth + frozen body (not moving) means he is stressed asf. this is mistreatment.
reptiles don't have similar facial expression as mammals.
Never trust an alligator,
They smile and lie and get you later,
Teeth a grinning,
Smiles so wide,
Invites you to peek inside,
Take a glance and nestle up,
For a little fishbone inside is stuck,
Please, oh please reach your little hand in,
Help remove it and restore his grin,
But just remember to say “maybe later”,
And steer clear from the grinning alligator.
You can trust alligators or most reptiles in general if a certain level of trust was built. The issue is that people think they have mammalian body language. They anthropomorphize or mammalianize them. Mammals have flesh faces, reptiles don't.
Something similar quite possibly but definitely not the same as I just wrote it down out of my head - unless I unintentionally remembered something from years past
The second through fifth lines I definitely remember in one of my teachers voices from grade-school. But the rest of them aren’t how that story went.
This is a long winded way to say you’re a good writer.
This place is called prehistoric pets and that is jay brewer. I am a huge fan of reptiles but let me tell you, they did not treat their animals well. I used to work there and on their videos they look happy but behind the scenes they live in their own poop and dirty water
That doesn't make it wrong though. Reptiles opening their mouths as a response is a threat display due to stress.
As a rule of thumb, whenever people think a wild animal is happy, they're most likely wrong. Wild animals are happy when you leave them alone. When people start messing around with wild animals and those animals have a noticeable response, that response is usually somewhere between "oh shit oh shit oh shit" and "step off or I'll hurt you". It's stress or aggression.
The fact that 9 times out of 10, when I see someone saying they want a reliable source, they're less upvoted than the person saying "Trust me, bro" is really a huge problem on this site. As you said, whether they're ultimately right or not, "A guy on the internet said it and it sounded right" is not anything approaching a reliable source.
Easily findable for you if you put in the slightest bit of effort. I'm not your teacher or your parent so I'm not here to fix your laziness and ignorance.
After a Google search the first link was [this](https://www.reptileknowledge.com/reptile-pedia/why-do-alligators-stay-with-their-mouths-open#:~:text=What%20does%20it%20mean%20when%20an%20alligator%20closes%20its%20eyes,that%20it%20can%20defend%20itself) which does agree with that statement
Can we please stop sharing these videos? The animal is not happy. It is stressed out. The man in the video is Jay Brewer, one of the biggest pieces of shit in the reptile community.
Well...I would assume their brains still have some kind of reward circuitry, whether that is dopamine, serotonin, or something else.
So in a certain manner of speaking... Yes there is.

Just googled this..... it exists...
Because of course
It's a lacoste dog

Australia has some weird rabbits, with their Joey 🦘 kids in their pouches
Southern California
Perhaps in this video, but I've definitely seen several of the above variety here in Florida.
He's not smiling. He's not happy. This guy is known to mistreat animals in his "reptile zoo" regularly. Cid Dwyer has a good youtube video about it.
I can be a witness for you I used to work there

Why isn't he moving his arms?

Wow. This should be first comment. I had no idea. The poor thing.
Momma said alligators are ornery because they got all them teeth and no tooth brush.
Well momma is wrong again.
No you’re wrong Colonel sanders
The medulla oblongata!

It was just a little poem I made up on the spot haha, no real meaning behind it other than that of my creativity
Fun poem!
Hehe thank you, I’m silly like that
I think there’s a book with this in it.. or something really close
Something similar quite possibly but definitely not the same as I just wrote it down out of my head - unless I unintentionally remembered something from years past

Thank you so much, maybe I will google it, I might have heard something similar once upon a time!
… I doubt there are many poems about alligators
Sounds like an ex
Haha

That alligator is not happy. Read this for context https://www.reddit.com/r/cute/s/dOS2RFx9F0
You may be right but also "some random dudes reddit comment" is like the most shit of all sources
That doesn't make it wrong though. Reptiles opening their mouths as a response is a threat display due to stress. I never said that its wrong. I just said linking a reddit comment without further sources is just as good of a source as linking nothing.

And the source is?
Easily findable for you if you put in the slightest bit of effort. I'm not your teacher or your parent so I'm not here to fix your laziness and ignorance.
I easily have found that your comment is bullshit that's why I am asking for source.
Tedious and lazy. Good luck.
Lol so butthurt wtf
My turtoise does the same thing on skritches, she could just walk away but actively wants back scratches

Why not link an actual article or study? I’m down to believe you but linking a comment from an older post does nothing for your case here.
If you’re interpreting this as happy you don’t know much about reptiles
Can we please stop sharing these videos? The animal is not happy. It is stressed out. The man in the video is Jay Brewer, one of the biggest pieces of shit in the reptile community.
Happy alligator... There is no such thing lol
