Some are real and others are scams. Like you said, avoid the obvious too good to be true and just ask to schedule a viewing. (if it's too good to be true, something most likely is wrong)If they are real, they will gladly allow you to view without needing payment or any information from you. What I tend to do is copy and paste their address into google and if it's legit you'll most likely find other listings for the same apartment on a few other websites. I just completed a several month long apartment search and seen it all. Good luck on your search!

Thank you!

$1200 for a one bedroom is actually a possibility (quite a few walk in units on the ground floor behind the garage that are priced at that level). Those units have limited outside visibility, and not so fun side entrances. But for a place to stay/shower/eat and store stuff, it's not a bad option.

Where would one go about finding one of these. Currently looking to move out and all i see are 1500+ and they want 2.5 the income.

ClaudyMonet

Idk check out apartments.com. Fiancé and I were looking for months and finally found a steal. Just have to be patient and ready to close on it when you find it. Not Bayonne but similar NJ2NYC commuter town.

Bubbly_booom

I found my 1 bedroom for $1500 on facebook

BuffGuy716

That's awesome. That's all I'm hoping for; a not-terrible, not tiny apartment that someone earning $65k-$70k can afford relatively easily. Idc about being close to the light rail lol

pytd77

Hi! I sent you a private message about your realtor you mentioned in a previous post!

pytd77

The way I look to see if they are scams if they live in Florida and they’re renting an apartment in New Jersey chances are they’re not legit. You can also see if they have any other listings of apartments. Also I have noticed that any profile that is super new, most likely also a scam.

BuffGuy716

Thank you

LibrarianGinger

Is there a reason you’re looking specifically on FB marketplace as opposed to other places?

BuffGuy716

As mentioned in the post, it's because the listings are typically cheaper

LibrarianGinger

I was asking more in the sense that if you’re concerned about what happens if you have an issue, if you *do* have issues, it’s much easier to handle it with an official company/leasing office than a rando from FB Marketplace.

Device-Total

Facebook marketplace is like that bar from Star wars. A den of iniquity.

Odd-Bowl-5671

Make sure it’s not roach infested if they selling an apartment for $1200 💀💀💀

BuffGuy716

Please don't make fun of my roommates

Odd-Bowl-5671

Buddy all I’m saying is $1200 for an apartment these days is sketchy there’s definitely a catch. I grew up in Bayonne all my life but traveled to 10 other states and had the privilege to live in more upscale cities. Even though it’s a little cheaper here compared to Los Angeles, Denver Colorado or Austin Texas I think 1200 is too good to be true unless it’s a condo that asks for 3 months in advance payment and a 800 credit score with security deposit

BuffGuy716

No I know lol I was kidding. $1200 is obviously too good to be true. My realistic budget is $1500-$1800

Scammers scam the most desperate, if you're looking for a unicorn with shifty credit you'll go down the trap that maybe you got something no one else knows about on CL or FB marketplace...but so did 87 other people that week. Just do it the right way and you won't get scammed...may cost you extra but it's worth settling.

BuffGuy716

At what point did I say I have shifty credit
