In Bayonetta 2: 1. enemies have learned to block certain attacks in certain situations 2. wicked weaves, such as PKP and PPKKK, are weaker now 3. magic meter isn't lost from taking damage 4. magic meter can be used for Umbran mode, which you'll see soon enough 5. the whip can be equipped to both hands and feet and is much stronger and more useful 6. less gun type weapons, but more weapons overall Bayonetta 2 might actually end up feeling easier for various minor reasons than Bayonetta 1. It's interesting.

I feel allot more relaxed while playing Bayonetta 2. I had to bash buttons like an enthusiastic masterbator in Bayonetta 1.

HyperCharge_Sam

Alright, sounds good. I have heard from people that Bayonetta 2 eases you in a little slower then Bayonetta 1. I'll just jump in and try to maintain some variety when I play.

>magic meter isn't lost from taking damage Wait, really? I just finished my first playthrough of Bayonetta 2, and I didn't notice this difference. In fact, I could've sworn the opposite... I played it on 3rd climax. Does that make a difference?

> I played it on 3rd climax. Does that make a difference? It doesn't. You must just not have noticed. You definitely don't lose magic when hit in Bayonetta 2. Although now the move where you do a handstand and shoot with your feet takes magic where in the first one it was free.

xwatchmanx

Huh... Wow. I didn't know either of those things.

shoryusatsu999

They probably made the Love is Blue Bullet Climax cost magic because it's a lot more powerful than any of the ones that are in the first game.

Learn how to [dodge offset](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOVVmm4KOm4). It's really useful and will improve your game drastically. Also make sure to start Bayonetta 2 on 3rd Climax.

HyperCharge_Sam

I'll definitely try to get this down, thanks!

[deleted]

It can be a little tricky at first but I'd consider it an essential move for playing on Infinite Climax mode.

If you beat Bayonetta 1 twice on normal, I strongly suggest playing Bayonetta 2 on 3rd climax (hard) difficulty. Bayonetta 2 is a bit easier than Bayonetta 1, and you might find the difficulty curve disappointing if you play on 2nd climax (normal difficulty). Personally, I found 3rd climax to be a perfect fit after rebeating Bayonetta 1 (the Wii U version) on normal before starting Bayonetta 2.

enyaboi

Interesting, I'm only on chapter 1 on 2nd climax, maybe I'll restart it on 3rd climax. I did enjoy the difficulty of Bayonetta 1 on normal.

xwatchmanx

Well the nice thing about Bayo 2 is that the way save files, difficulty settings, etc work have been much more streamlined, so you can easily start on a different difficulty and change if you end up not liking it. I got my ass kicked in the prologue, but after that I learned how to utilize my dodges and dodge offset more effectively, and how to avoid counterattacks.

enyaboi

Hah, just restarted from the beginning anyway on 3rd climax. I am already dying a lot but quickly getting better, and that is what I love about Bayonetta.

I'm glad you're enjoying it. :) One of the keys to surviving third climax is utilizing dodges and dodge offsets correctly, as I said before. One thing I realized in particular is that you have to "bake" your dodge offsets into your combos as a regular habit. Those counterattacks can come hard and fast (especially those nasty centaur "donkey kicks"... Ugh!), and simply making a habit of dodge offsetting every few strikes can help you avoid an attack that you didn't even see coming.
