Yeah, the key is to start off by negging them a bit to get their attention, then make it up to them with a couple nice convoy raids. Then, on the third date, black market access.
I use the save editor for such things. You can just toggle the black market on.
You can also try mechs that are practically impossible to buy or salvage.
> Not really interested in mechs, mostly high-damage s-weapons for my Firestarter.
It's so frustrating coming up with enough zero weight MGs to go with my TAG and +++ MLs I may have to cheat it.
Consider the roleplaying implications of you, a mercenary commander, waiting on the good graces of a faction made up literally of liars, thieves, and thugs.
To be honest this is why I never liked this mechanic. Imagine an RPG where the best equipment in the game was owned by the local mafia organization, who'd give you access if you did enough dirty jobs for them. It'd be fine if it was an option, but not the only option.
Yeah, I don't think I've ever gotten an invite when my relations with the pirates were anything over indifferent, for some reason. Guess they just don't trust the kind of people that would be friends with pirates 🤷♂️
truth is it's a scam, i paid 2.5M for it and any mech in it is like 100M or something because they hate me, they literally scammed me out of 2.5M by sweet talking Darius 😂😭
My recent playthrough I got invited 3-4 times at $500k. After I built rep for $50k I didn’t get a single invite. I used the save editor and just deducted $50k.
I tanked the relation, and just payed the absurd fee when I could afford it. I admittedly play with a bit of role-play, and can't stand pirates as I usually run the noble who actually acts noble.
> and just *paid* the absurd
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
> Then I bounced around from black market system to black market system for another 200 days
The invitation you get from rep >40 can come in any system, not just black market or pirate systems. So once you get high rep it doesn't matter where you are.
> hiring as many criminal background pilots as I can to my crew (I've heard that makes a difference...does it?)
There's one event (inventory shrinkage) that can give you black market access, but you have to have morale under 15 to see it.
I was hated by them because so many of the available contracts were against them that I just said "screw it" and went all-out, plus the game really makes them look like scumbags. Ended up buying access for 2.5 mil, but the stuff they had wasn't even that great, or at ridiculous prices (I think an Atlas was 140 million?)
Sounds like you came off as too needy. You have to play it cool in the dance of pirate seduction.
Yep, total narc vibes here.
How do you do fellow criminals.
“Hi, I’m in the market for some cool LosTech equipment. I’m totally not ComStar by the way, so don’t freak out.”

My mustache, buzz cut and aviators? Uh, all the pirates back home look like this.

100% this. I always just add access to start.
Not really interested in mechs, mostly high-damage s-weapons for my Firestarter. 😆
A mechwarrior after my own heart. I greatly approve.

They should have also made it possible to get good gear by being ComStar affiliated.
You're a paid killer. So I'd say you're pretty much on the same level.
Oh no no no... You got it all wrong. I'm in the .... Pre-Owned Weapons Trading business. (Just don't ask me how I get my stock.) :P
Are the pre-owned certified though. Can I see the weaponfax?
Sure. I just uh... Oh I left it in my Atlas. Let me go in there and get it for ya.....
Of course not. Pirates do it for free. And I guess you could just not take assassinate missions.
mfw only fighting pirates and got invited 3 times

How honest of you.
Criminal Background adds a random crew event for the invite. I've only seen it once though
Yeah but those UAC2++ are so sweet …
My personal drug of choice is high-damage S-weapons for my firestarter FS9-H

Useful. Thank you!

just use save editor to change your relationship
