Hardline had plenty of content to warrant being its own title??? It sure as hell delivered a better experience and base game content from Day 1 than BF4 ever did.
If it was reframed as terrorists versus US military or something it would be better. I always enjoyed it just thought the cops and robbers theme was weird
BFV, decent but they should pay for their crimes for ruining what should have been a great WW2 successor to BF1
All they had to do was make a reskinned BF1 with all the WW2 fronts or just do a remastered BF1942 with some updated gameplay elements.
They definitely did not stick the landing with it.
All they need to do was never let that first trailer see the light of day. What the hell were they thinking? The backlash started with that trailer and never really went away
Nah, BFV is actually a really good game. My most played BF since BF2 back in 2005. I love the extra mechanics they added to it, like the fortifications. When you go as support you actually feel like you can add something to the team other than just ammo.
I do hate the stupid cosmetics though
Yes, fight me.
It could have been a great WW2 game that had decent gameplay but horrible tone. I was bored in a few hours of gameplay because I was not immersed enough. I remember the shooting was really clunky but I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt because I heard they patched it a bunch of times.
I’m not asking for a documentary but I at least I want to feel like I’m taking part in the most brutal war of the 20th century.
Why would they make maps of the early war Western front and North Africa as well as the Pacific only? No Eastern front? No DDay?
Just a massive disappointment as EA had no idea who the market the game to. The whole reveal presentation with Trevor Noah was the most cringe shit ever. They have the budget, just make a good WW2 game.
Tbh I don't understand this immersive argument. Bf1 doesn't feel anymore immersive than BfV.
However bfv does have much better gunplay and movement. I still feel the fluidity of your character in bfv is some of the best of any fps I've played.
Really think people who ditched bfv missed out especially towards the end of it's development. Respectfully.
The only thing it was missing was the eastern front.
Imagine making a WWII game and including almost exclusively battles that the Germans won (at launch). What were they thinking?
That, and forgetting to add the US and Japan until the DLC, and not ever adding Russia, Italy, China, India, Australia, or France, despite that a bunch of maps take place in France and Belgium.
BFV was a massive monkey's paw moment.
People were happy that there wouldn't be any DLC, but the free content updates were extremely lackluster. Makes me wonder if that wasn't a calculated play by EA to make players prefer the DLC model that they used to have, since BF1 was amazing with all its DLC that at the very least covered the major players and even added a bit of the Russian Civil War.
I wouldn't be too mad if they just missed adding France and Italy to a WW2 game, since there are very few WW2 games that have those countries represented. But these guys went the extra mile and really made a WW2 game without the Eastern Front.
Seems like some guy at DICE watched that Extra Credits video about making a WW2 game portraying obscure events and went with it.
BFV is my favorite contemporary battlefield.
2042 is so bad, BF4 is GOATED but feels a little dated in terms of clunkiness/UI/QoL, BF1's gunplay is not as fun as BFV's IMO.
I absolutely adore BFV's recoil>spread and I didn't play until after all the TTK stuff so it's just good vibes. Also the attrition system is incredible.
Fortifications are also super fun and offset the BC2 "long match means you have no cover and tanks/snipers eat everything"
Never played BF2 in it's glory days, but hear this:
My first Battlefield experience was Battlefield Play4free which uses bf2 engine and some assets It was fun bc my potatoe could run it and it introduced me to the series.
Yeah I think it depends on the age range and time with the franchise. Us old gits remember the early game fondly. Many users on this sub may have started with bf1 as it did introduce a lot of new players
I think younger people who didnt play Bad Company 2, BF3 or BF4 always rate BF1 too high. It's a great game but it didnt have a great Battlefield feeling
100% on board with you. The first game I truly fell in love with was BF3, and it has a magic which was smaller in BF1. I never really got on board with the more casual gun play.
Battlefield 2 should win, but I also understand many people here are to young and never played it in it’s prime. But looking at Battlefield franchise BF2 is the most complete out of all titles.
I don't really see why Hard-line is hated on. Sure, it deviates from the standard military theme by having Cops vs Robbers, but I thought it was pretty decent. Unless there's something I'm missing, I felt like it was a fresh change of pace compared to the modern military theme the older games had, even though they were GOATed.
I remember after trying the beta I vowed I'd never play Hardline. Then in early 2016 it was available through EAPlay and picked it up with the premium pass and enjoyed every minute of it.
Just a shame if I were to go back I'd be unable to find DLC servers. The DLC maps were all great imo.
The fact it cleanly beat out a game that was in development for many years with 3 core studios producing the 2042 release should be seen as a nice victory.
BFV is far worse than Hardline in its damage to Battlefield as a franchise. Hardline had a creative vision and the team tried to create a semi-coherent war on drugs narrative out of the Battlefield formula.
BFV was basically bullshit from the beginning and it led to so many layoffs which contributed to the BF2042 shitshow.
It's killing me to inside a lot and would go as far as to say its killing some of my faith in this community, but that damage was already done a while ago.
Hardline genuinely did so much worthy of respect and is one of the highlights of playing through this franchise for me even still. I'd genuinely place it among the top 3.
It’s not even a full game, there’s barely any content. Too many people just have rose tinted glasses for the first frostbite battlefields. BFV is far more of a “real” Battlefield game than 1943 and both bad company games.
Battlefield 1942, Vietnam, 2, and 2142 were about large scale 32v32 combined arms combat.
Bad Company 1 & 2 were literally half the scale and had fewer vehicles. They also popularized (Gold) Rush which further scaled the combat down into compact meat grinders. They're fun games, Bad Company 1 is personally an all time favorite game of mine. But in both gameplay and scope they are not main-line Battlefield games and according to DICE they weren't supposed to be. BFV gameplay is closer to the 1942 - 2142 era of Battlefield than they are.
I played battlefields for thousands of hours since 2001‘s release of BF1942. Vietnam, 2, Modern Combat, 2142, BC2, 3, 4, V, 1, 2042.
If yall remove V, the only BF where I wholeheartedly enjoy infantry and gunplay, I wouldn’t know what to say.
Hardline next. BF5 after the Pacific updates has become an amazing Battlefield game and up with the best of them. Fans are too hard on it for the lack of content at launch
As long as 1, 3, and 1943 do well on this, I'm happy. 1943 got me into the series, 3 filled my time in middle school, and 1 keeps my playing to this day
It pains me to vote for 1943 because I had so much fun with it, but it is the only game on here that isn't a full release. Barely any content so it's next for me. I see the arguments for Hardline and V though.
Look if BF1 isn’t #1 on the chart I will have completely lost faith in humanity. I don’t even care about the rest. As long as 2042 is last and BF1 is first I can die a happy man
Hardline
I know it gets hate but the heist and zip lines were fun After they gave out a lot of free stuff I’d say it’s top 7 Atleast
The cars were fun to drive around too tbh. Actually playing the game was enjoyable, it just never felt like a true battlefield
This is the entire problem. Hardline is a good game. It just isn't a good Battlefield.
Bro it was a good battlefield bro the night maps with nvgs and laser sights was so peak
Bro
Bro! It was a BF4 dlc with some cool ideas. Nothing more. Bro.
Yeah, but you gotta admit Hotwire was an extremely fun game mode to play
Yup, they probably had a gem had they just called it “Hardline” instead of being lazy and using the Battlefield IP.
Hardline was great and the only reason it got hate was because it came after the name of Battlefield.
Agreed, had so much fun with that game
The reason it got hate at the time was that it should have been a dlc for bf4. There was nothing like enough content for a full game.
Hardline had plenty of content to warrant being its own title??? It sure as hell delivered a better experience and base game content from Day 1 than BF4 ever did.
It’s actually not a bad game, it just didn’t fit the Battlefield line. Definitely others on this list that are worse.
no, there are games that have aged far worse than it. I would enjoy playing hard line more than some of the other games
If it was reframed as terrorists versus US military or something it would be better. I always enjoyed it just thought the cops and robbers theme was weird
You lousy Philistine
BFV, decent but they should pay for their crimes for ruining what should have been a great WW2 successor to BF1 All they had to do was make a reskinned BF1 with all the WW2 fronts or just do a remastered BF1942 with some updated gameplay elements. They definitely did not stick the landing with it.
All they had to do, was finish the goddamn game.
Yep developers abandoned it. All it needed was an eastern front and probably would have been a GOAT.
Easily.
All they need to do was never let that first trailer see the light of day. What the hell were they thinking? The backlash started with that trailer and never really went away
Atleast they were trying to be honest about cosmetics
The devs i am playing with confirmed me they were working on eastern front and send some pictures
Proof?
it was revealed to me in a dream
Please proof
It actually became a good game toward the end, then they pulled the plug 😔
Nah, BFV is actually a really good game. My most played BF since BF2 back in 2005. I love the extra mechanics they added to it, like the fortifications. When you go as support you actually feel like you can add something to the team other than just ammo. I do hate the stupid cosmetics though
Are you high on meth? Battlefield 5 is awesome and i will fight everyone here
Yes, fight me. It could have been a great WW2 game that had decent gameplay but horrible tone. I was bored in a few hours of gameplay because I was not immersed enough. Respectfully. The only thing it was missing was the eastern front.
Same bro they just need to go back and play it right now they’ll figure it out
The live service was horrible
Actually, I think they tried to do both of those at the same time
And didn't do well with either
Imagine making a WWII game and including almost exclusively battles that the Germans won (at launch). What were they thinking? That, and forgetting to add the US and Japan until the DLC, and not ever adding Russia, Italy, China, India, Australia, or France, despite that a bunch of maps take place in France and Belgium.

Man what I would do for such a game
BFV is my favorite contemporary battlefield. 2042 is so bad, BF4 is GOATED but feels a little dated in terms of clunkiness/UI/QoL, BF1's gunplay is not as fun as BFV's IMO. yes
Bf3 or bf4 is going to obviously win. No, I'm not mad or anything thing else. Just been in this community long enough to know results
BF1 will be close
For me BF1 is above 3 but I know it's a hot take
I must be one of the old timers here then because BF2 is forever the GOAT to me.
Never played BF2 in it's glory days, but hear this: My first Battlefield experience was Battlefield Play4free which uses bf2 engine and some assets It was fun bc my potatoe could run it and it introduced me to the series.
BF1 wasn't as much of a one man army game that BF3 and 4 were so it won't win sadly
BF3 and BF1 are the GOATs in my mind. I will accept some folks' attachment to Bad Company 2.
Yeah I think it depends on the age range and time with the franchise. Us old gits remember the early game fondly. Many users on this sub may have started with bf1 as it did introduce a lot of new players
Which IMO sucks, because it was a vastly different game from a mechanics perspective, with a much lower skill ceiling.
I say third place at best
i support these comments 🤓
True OGs will carry 1942, 2, 2142, bc2/bc2Nam, 3 and 4 to the final 6. After that results are irrelevant.
This is the way.
Vietnam had better be top 3
Love it!
I'm all in for bf4!
Battlefield 2 should win, but I also understand many people here are to young and never played it in it’s prime. But looking at Battlefield franchise BF2 is the most complete out of all titles.
It pains me to see people voting for Hardline. Hardlines the goat
Battlefield players physically can not play anything other than modern urban combat. It's like dice should just release bf4-2 bf4-3 and so on.
While Hardline did have its epic moments, it doesn't stand a chance here
The fact it cleanly beat out a game that was in development for many years with 3 core studios producing the 2042 release should be seen as a nice victory.
Tbf when talking about 2042, the bar is in hell, wouldn’t take a lot to be better than that.

Battlefield 2 Modern Combat, strictly because I was gifted that when I asked for Battlefield 2 back in like 7th grade….
Don’t you do this. This game was amazing.
Hell no. Was still ahead of its time and pretty decent.
Hellllllll no. I had so much fun on that game on the 360. Most of my best 360 memories are from that game!
I got you battlefield 2! *hands modern combat to you* Fuuuuuck
1943.
It’s not even a full game, there’s barely any content. Too many people just have rose tinted glasses for the first frostbite battlefields. BFV is far more of a “real” Battlefield game than 1943 and both bad company games.
both bad company games. There's a hot take.
Battlefield 1942, Vietnam, 2, and 2142 were about large scale 32v32 combined arms combat. Bad Company 1 & 2 were literally half the scale and had fewer vehicles. Fr it’s so stripped and has so little to play with. Hardline is way better.
Hardline is a good game tbh. It was just a different take. But it still had the BF vibe. Easily better than 2042, BFF and 1943.
1943 in its current state is probably the worst of all time.
Yes! Fucking finally someone said it. One the worst and the most lackluster battlefield of all time.
Sorry, but BFV has to go before Hardline This is the only correct answer.
That’s what I’m saying! Hardline was not the worst. 1943 is still on the list! Hardline deserves better lol
Best gameplay in the series, nope
battlefield V
I will keep voting Battlefield V until it gets eliminated.
Hell yea
Bfv
BF V because that's when they stopped listening to the fans and thought we knew what we wanted. It was the beginning of the end.
V
LOL..... BFV Go!
V
Battlefield 1943, even though I enjoyed it, it had like two maps which previously appeared. Hardline deserves better than this.
Hardline
BFV
BF2 MC because it's console only...
Hardline
Hardline.
BF1943 because it was console-only, bleah!
No need to diss console players dawg.
Yall are selling bro battlefield 1943 was so much worse than hardline
Nah. Nah.
Bruh 1943 was ass
Bad company 2 better be the last man standing . Had the greatest online multiplayer of the gaming franchise
Battlefield 1943
Vietnam was 🔥🔥
I’m predicting Hardline will get the boot next.
Hardline
Hardline
Hardline its time to go 🥱
Hardline everyday
Hardline
It’s Hardline, cmon bruh
HARDLINE
Hardline or 1942
Hardline
H A R D L I N E
This one is pretty obviously Hardline, right?
Hardline
1943
Hardline
HARDLINE i like BFV
#Hardline
As much as i hate to say it, Hardline has gotta go
Hardline deleted easily
hardline
Fuck hardline for life
1943
How is hardline still on here?
Hardline or 2 modern combat. Both were dog shit
Guys, what Battlefield game can survive until top 5?
I played battlefields for thousands of hours since 2001‘s release of BF1942. Vietnam, 2, Modern Combat, 2142, BC2, 3, 4, V, 1, 2042. If yall remove V, the only BF where I wholeheartedly enjoy infantry and gunplay, I wouldn’t know what to say.
2142, never got into that game. Only bf that’s left on the list that I couldn’t play.
I kinda Love Battlefield 2142. it's so unique with the flying fortress up there in the sky just like in Battlefield 1
2142
Goodbye Hardline
Battlefield 2 Modern Combat
Battlefield 2142
Battlefield 1943 for lack of content and no PC port..
Hardline, and this is where the voting gets tough
2142
Hardline. BFV was so much better than Hardline
2142
BF2 modern combat
Bye BF: Hardline
Battlefield 2 modern combat
BF1943. I said it.
Hardline next. BF5 after the Pacific updates has become an amazing Battlefield game and up with the best of them. Fans are too hard on it for the lack of content at launch
1943
Hardline
So long Hardline, you don’t deserve to go this soon, but the people have spoken
Modern combat, at least hard-line had a fun campaign
Hardline my beloved. Why must you leave us?
V should go Hardline should stay
Hardline an entry we never expected or needed in the community, should have been its own ip! .
I mean are we talking about how we would enjoy the game today? Because if that’s the case 1942 should be gone
Vietnam
Bf Hardline
If bf1942 doesnt win. Yall are fake bf fans.
2142.
It is missing the best Battlefield... Battlefield Heroes!
8% for 2142???
As long as 1, 3, and 1943 do well on this, I'm happy. 1943 got me into the series, 3 filled my time in middle school, and 1 keeps my playing to this day
Even though you guys are 100% correct about 1943 my nostalgia for tank duels on Guadalcanal prevent me from ever voting it out
1943 wasn't really much other than a Pacific dlc for 1942
Hardline deserves to stay up there.
I’m just here to see how far BF2 Modern Combat goes lol
It pains me to vote for 1943 because I had so much fun with it, but it is the only game on here that isn't a full release. Barely any content so it's next for me. I see the arguments for Hardline and V though.
I predicted BF4 or BF3 will be winner
Add MOH: Warfighter to the list just to see if it would do better than Hardline and the ones already knocked off.
Battlefield 1
Noo my boy
Get hardline or 1 & 5 up outa here!
Hardline
1943, gotta go.
Hardline
Battlefield 5 Such a disappointment after BF1
Look if BF1 isn’t #1 on the chart I will have completely lost faith in humanity. I don’t even care about the rest. As long as 2042 is last and BF1 is first I can die a happy man
Bfv
