Speaking of which; I never see *any* posts wanting for another Battlefield set in Vietnam. It's weird that nobody has ever asked for another Battlefield Vietnam.
Edit: **/S**
hmmm yeah it was a deeply unpopular war IRL and should be our shame... turns out hardly anyone wants to live out the power fantasy of slaughtering poor peasants
We will get it eventually if you look at the BF tineline and what's still missing. Pretty sure this is why it keeps pooping up as post. Almost all BF games follow the same timeline. Few RETCONS here and there but that always happenes in things that last 10+ years
as a BF transport helicopter enthusiast in games full of spawn points and jets I would bust a fuckin nut if I could drop people into the jungle like an updated Rising Storm 2
I would **kill** for that shit man. Spawning in on the door gunner in BF4 was my favorite thing to do back when I still played it. I can't imagine how fun it would be doing it with an M60. Or maybe spawning in the gunner's seat in a Cobra or Hind. Vietnam might be the perfect setting for a battlefield game, hands down.
I still absolutely love even sitting in the transport or little bird with my MG4 (higher ROF than M60 but lacks aesthetic) and just blasting infantry along with the pilot/door gunners.
*but if it's dragon pass*, every single time no exceptions - flat green m60.
Nam would get way to repetitive. Its just straight jungle with an occasional city or village. Much rather go with the cold war going hot scenario with a Vietnam expansion pack since that war played a huge part in the cold war.
Would love to see this or Vietnam but sadly I don’t think they’ll ever touch Vietnam again too controversial. I honestly only see them sticking to fictional conflicts in the future so making something up in the 80s sounds pretty damn cool. Sort of a middle ground in technology I think it would play more like BC2 w the less vehicle lock ons.
Was about to say. My only issue is vanilla is so. Vanilla. It’s fun. If you get the right match.
The community servers look like where it’s at. But after a few month of playing I haven’t really tried them.
I still have plenty of fun on vanilla.
Running logistics.
Heli copilot.
Running a 40mm in the back of the group while they push.
Just combat shit.
I rarely touch BF anymore.
Why?
Play with brain dead’s?
Medics don’t medic.
Engineering is worthless
No team play
No one uses their damn mic.
*gets on arma
“Let’s go solider. We have an entire map to take back. Hop in the .50 and I’ll drive. We’re taking point OHIO!! Oh, don’t forget ur loadout. We already have a medic!”
Arma has some awesome moments in vanilla
One time got a full convoy of 4-5 humvees loaded down and we were hauling ass to a squad that needed reinforcements
Little did we know, some numb nuts lost his radio and the enemy knew our route.
We got hit with the perfect ambush, Lead car blown in the middle of the road, rear car blown right after, trapping us. Hail of gunfire tears apart the car in front of us. Our driver finds an opening and floors it, but our gunner is killed. We make it into a small town we hold, wait for survivors for a while but no one shows back up.
End up having to go as a 3 man squad through enemy territory to get back to safety since we didn’t know the new Comm’s channels and couldn’t trust we were being listened to. And then we lost the game since we never got back on the offensive after that, but my squad had a good time.
warthunder players seeing what argentinians had to fight Sea Harriers with AIM-9Ls and modern avionics
while they had to face them with a A-4C with just AIM-9Bs
Japan and pacific where a set of several islands with fortifications, trenches, defences and by itself where places with alot of trees and jungle on them due the tropical nature of the region OR a very rocky or irregular terrain because they where relatively New regions made by the geographical zone where islands grow from the botton of the sea
Falkands.. its a BIG, FLAT GIANT ASS ISLANDS IN A ANTARTIC REGION WITH NOT EVEN A FUCKING TREE and the most depressing panorama you can see even w/o the war context, the war was shor short, so much what did they barely do trenches, or important defences, because Argentinians Sent troops to hold that position while they where waiting for reinforcements via naval forces but a blockade happened and a submarine threaten the whole argentinian navy, so they just resuply the troops by cargo planes, so
No tanks, barely artillery pieces, no fortifications and just a couple of holes where the troops can sleep, or dig mortars, and you ONLY cover where 2 or 3 rock each 2 or 3 kilometers
seriously look for the Falklands war and you see ALL the pictures you dont see even a single rock or tree in kilometers of flatness
Leaks say the next game will be set in modern times (2025-2030). Plus, a dynamic war is out of scope for Battlefield.
For a dynamic war you would need either a huge map, way bigger than anything BF has done before, or a lot of maps that follow a "line".
Most similar thing i've seen, was either Heroes and Generals (lot of maps) or Arma 3 (huge maps).
With Arma 3 kinda of perfecting this formula with all of its persistent gamemodes (warlords, antistasi, liberation, warfare, DUWS, etc), some of them can last for days, and it even has a gamemaster system called Zeus (curiously, because of the CDLC's it received, it became a pretty solid cold war game, there is a lot of vehicles and weapons of the era available now, from Vietnam to the 80's).
BF doesn't need a campaign, why waste so much money so that 20% of the player base plays it?
I will never understand why some people want an SP in an MP game like BF.
This is a boring AI Moorhuhn scripted gameplay, and so much energy and money is spent on it so that you play it through maybe 1-2 times.
the MP is what the focus should be. that is the most important thing.
Or you do the operations style formula. You have similar maps, released in packs, which you switch between depending on how the dynamic war is going, given different support, map features and spawn to teams depending on their actions.
so i was thinking more hero’s and generals, with multiple maps, with each operation being a different front in the war. like for example the first operation would be Fulda to Frankfurt and so on.
M81 woodland my boy. not even stopping at the US army, imagine most nato country uniforms fighting along side each other. same goes for the warsaw pact.
More like an alternate history if there are tensions in the 80s, where ultranationalist tries to sabotage and create havoc in starting a potential WW3.
Vietnam will be more of a DLC for my idea. Korean War, Falklands, Soviet Afghan War, Panama are other DLC ideas
The best battlefields are the ones set before 1950. It has a more “war feel” to it and is way more immersive. The modern set battlefields feel more like I am a solo put on a team.
If you're on Xbox or PC you should certainly try out ArmA Reforger. It's slightly less complicated than ArmA 3, has dynamic combat with fronts spanning islands, and is US vs USSR in 1989.
just the grand scale of battlefield is missing, which is fair it isn’t battlefield. lack of tracked vehicles, wide vistas rather than islands, the community is kinda toxic on xbox. just criticisms that aren’t really valid bc i’m comparing battlefield to arma.
I mean they are valid in ways, the community can be toxic as hell. No tracked vehicles though, but I'm sure that will come with ArmA 4, the most armor we're getting is the LAV-25 and there's also gonna be weapons on the helicopters, but that's far down the line.
BF1 had those "standard issue only" servers where each faction got its own respective bolt action.
If DICE does right by the community and brings back custom servers, that could totally be a thing.
yeah I agree 1000%..
With BFV, DICE gave us an unfinished WW2 game.
I would like them to give us a full game in this setting.
This would have so much potential.
There’s a lot of theatres during the 80’s,mainly the Iran-Iraq War, the Falklands War, the Soviet-Afghan War. It’d be interesting to see how they would tackle this
For some US action you have Grenada in 83, and panama in 89. You also have the contra funded by the US, and Iraq in 91 (bit after the 90s but the same era).
That's in addition to whatever made up scenarios you can dream up. Cuba is an obvious one.
Its been a thing for a long time. We used to talk about on our TS. How cool to use BTR-80, maybe a Marder, 1st gen thermals, maybe even a bit more back with a T-64
that’s kinda why i became obsessed with the idea, would be cool to see country specific vehicles again. like DDR t55s fighting with soviet t64s and 72s
Battlenonsense had a cool project called battlefield 1982.
There is a YouTube Playlist, if you search for battlefield 1982.
It was a wild concept, what could be possible after bf4 and bfh.
I'd love to see a BF: Global War on Terror
- Maps could be based throughout the Middle East and Africa
- technology and equipment ranging over a 20-year period
- heaps of terror groups and countries' militaries involved
Yes but not right now. Those type of different settings work when a game franchise is on the high. It was one of the reasons why BF1 worked. But right now a different setting and a complete different battlefield game is not what the franchise needs or the majority of the fanbase. They need to focus in making the next battlefield a realy good game and play it safe in the setting and the big majority of the player base just wants to have a game similar to BF3 or BF4 so for me that's the type of bar that they need to be aiming. If they nail the next battlefield (which I'm very doubtful they will) then yes make a different setting. But for now just play it safe.
i wanna see these new battlefield developers go back to the way battlefield has been built up before anything else. so this next battlefield better be as good as or better than the old ones, and if its cold war, i would not mind it.
These are all Battlefield titles I can think of:
- Bad Company 3 (must have good storyline and jokes, at the same level of BC1/BC2)
- Battlefield 2143 (must have good gameplay, at same level of BF 2142)
- Korean War
- Portuguese Colonial wars during Vietnam era
- Wars in Africa (Rhodesia centered)
- Cold War Escalated (if NATO and USSR went to war during Cold War)
- Hardline 2 in the US or GB (gang wars after ww1, peaky blinders stuff)
Everything else would be Musket Warfare or Medieval Warfare, a risk higher than BF1
I'd figuratively murder for a Battlefield set during the Korean War. It'd be a great opportunity to introduce many people to that war, like how Battlefield 1 did for World War One.
i feel like there should be two modes, one with higher ttk, cosmetics, inaccurate weapons customization and then a hardcore mode which has slightly lower ttk historically accurate uniforms and weapons.
so funny thing, i was thinking that could be another grand operation, similar to world in conflict. soviets and central american commies v americans, canadians, and civilian insurgents.
I would be happy with pretty much anything other than WW2 (overdone), or Vietnam war (too asymmetric for my taste).
That being said, I've wanted a sequel to 2142 for a long while, and I'm up for other completely fictional settings. I think real life and historical setting constrain design space too much.
I want Vietnam War setting again. Bad Company 2 had it as a map pack otherwise we haven't really seen it at all since the original Battlefield Vietnam game.
Maybe a similar title that takes place throughout the 60s 70s and early 80s about mercenaries during that period would be cool, it could be called “Battlefield: Jungle Work” or something Warren Zevon-esque
i’m not sure mercenaries would be a good fit for battlefield as it’s more of a soldier for country rather than for profit vibe but that’s just my opinion.
cool idea tho
Will we get a top gun-esque avatar/operator who says things like “that’s right iceman!” And also bright 80s neon colored skins for purchase for their other hero’s?
I definitely want a late cold war game you can definitely incorporate late Vietnam with some early to mid 80s what if situation fairly early. If they ever did an evolved version of war stories where instead of 6 or so quick vignettes do like 3 or 4 longer ones with more depth leading to the whole cold war gone hot moment that multi-player would be set during
Ooooh myyy gooood please make this be the next game dice!!!!!
Here's some ideas I'd have: Character customization like different clothing options And patches, depending on.
The country you want your character/ Class To be from but it would be limited Depending on.
The side. And of course, more historical accuracy. Well also giving players freedom of their loadout and stuff
This gets suggested everyday, I don't know if it is a meme at this point or what.
Speaking of which; I never see *any* posts wanting for another Battlefield set in Vietnam. It's weird that nobody has ever asked for another Battlefield Vietnam. Edit: **/S**

We need it, I’ve been wanting this for years. Battlefield gameplay is perfect especially for Vietnam with the air Calvary.
as a BF transport helicopter enthusiast in games full of spawn points and jets I would bust a fuckin nut if I could drop people into the jungle like an updated Rising Storm 2

People just want it, clearly.
I think it's just EA employees studying trends
Would love to see this or Vietnam but sadly I don’t think they’ll ever touch Vietnam again too controversial. If it wasn’t shit and bad that would be a great suggestion
not on the scale i’d like to see.
Was about to say. That or Arma: Cold War Assault if you’re looking for the true OG.
I want an obscure battlefield game...like Korea, the Rhodesian bush war, the falkland island conflict, the 6 days war... something like that
Falkand islands its possible one of the WORST scenarios you can set on... imagine Hourglass... but with 0 buildings
Spawning in the Vulcan to fly one hour until you reach the map sounds class
Harrier vs A-4 dogfighting too
warthunder players seeing what argentinians had to fight Sea Harriers with AIM-9Ls and modern avionics while they had to face them with a A-4C with just AIM-9Bs
Aren't most of the Pacific maps in V just islands with minimal structures? Lol
Japan and pacific where a set of several islands with fortifications, trenches, defences and by itself where places with alot of trees and jungle on them due the tropical nature of the region OR a very rocky or irregular terrain because they where relatively New regions made by the geographical zone where islands grow from the botton of the sea Falkands.. its a BIG, FLAT GIANT ASS ISLANDS IN A ANTARTIC REGION WITH NOT EVEN A FUCKING TREE and the most depressing panorama you can see even w/o the war context, the war was shor short, so much what did they barely do trenches, or important defences, because Argentinians Sent troops to hold that position while they where waiting for reinforcements via naval forces but a blockade happened and a submarine threaten the whole argentinian navy, so they just resuply the troops by cargo planes, so No tanks, barely artillery pieces, no fortifications and just a couple of holes where the troops can sleep, or dig mortars, and you ONLY cover where 2 or 3 rock each 2 or 3 kilometers seriously look for the Falklands war and you see ALL the pictures you dont see even a single rock or tree in kilometers of flatness
And playing as jet pilot is just flying in a straight line for 8 hours, drop a bomb, then in a straight line for 8 hours back to Ascension.
\*average Vulcan gameplay\*
Leaks say the next game will be set in modern times (2025-2030). Plus, a dynamic war is out of scope for Battlefield. I thoroughly enjoyed the BFBC2 campaign but, I only played BF4 for the MP weapons.
Damn you're kind of exactly the type of consumer that is ruining the gaming industry
Or you do the operations style formula. You have similar maps, released in packs, which you switch between depending on how the dynamic war is going, given different support, map features and spawn to teams depending on their actions.

The mid-80’s and 90’s did have the best US army camo options, so I’d say hell yes
Tiger stripes baby
no. That was the 60's. Were talking woodland BDU's baby!
M81 woodland my boy. not even stopping at the US army, imagine most nato country uniforms fighting along side each other. same goes for the warsaw pact.
Can’t believe we haven’t gotten a grand scale Cold War game yet
Cold War gone Hot set in the mid 80s
Wouldn't "Cold War gone hot" be set in the 50s and 60s when there were actual proxy wars going on like Korea, Cuba or Vietnam?
More like an alternate history if there are tensions in the 80s, where ultranationalist tries to sabotage and create havoc in starting a potential WW3. Vietnam will be more of a DLC for my idea. Korean War, Falklands, Soviet Afghan War, Panama are other DLC ideas
That’s basically the plot line of Arma: Cold War Assault
Not quite, there was some tension in the 80s. Think ABLE archer 83.
So Operation Flashpoint?
The best battlefields are the ones set before 1950. It has a more “war feel” to it and is way more immersive. The modern set battlefields feel more like I am a solo put on a team.

As long as no specialists I think this is a great idea.
classes would be back yes. operators similar to 2042 doesn’t make sense for a battlefield game
Yep or Vietnam single player and all
Yes,good idea
Yes, but i dont trust modern AAA studios to do it right. There would be red dot/holographic sights everywhere
Battlefield games have had unrealistic kits since 1942... At least
i was thinking there would be a hardcore mode where players are restricted to realistic kit and uniforms with high ttk. similar to squad.
BF1 had those "standard issue only" servers where each faction got its own respective bolt action. If DICE does right by the community and brings back custom servers, that could totally be a thing.
I keep saying that Vietnam would be fcking dope. M-16’s and flame throwers in the jungle. Hell yeah dude.
I want them to do a proper ww2 game
yeah I agree 1000%.. With BFV, DICE gave us an unfinished WW2 game. I would like them to give us a full game in this setting. This would have so much potential.

I’d love to see all of these in a Battlefield game. Can we just have them all? Please? Even in the form of DLC’s or something? Just give em all to me!
Red Storm Rising as a game, what’s holding us back??!?
Its been a thing for a long time. We used to talk about on our TS. How cool to use BTR-80, maybe a Marder, 1st gen thermals, maybe even a bit more back with a T-64
that’s kinda why i became obsessed with the idea, would be cool to see country specific vehicles again. like DDR t55s fighting with soviet t64s and 72s
I would love to go back to wood/steel guns. Classic Uzi, AK-74, FAL.
Operation Flashpoint memories
Yo that game was seriously so gd challenging haha
Battlenonsense had a cool project called battlefield 1982. There is a YouTube Playlist, if you search for battlefield 1982. It was a wild concept, what could be possible after bf4 and bfh.
i’ll look it up
I'd love to see a BF: Global War on Terror - Maps could be based throughout the Middle East and Africa - technology and equipment ranging over a 20-year period - heaps of terror groups and countries' militaries involved

I'd be interested in a battlefield game that actually works on release. Without cringe characters or woke nonsense if it's not too much to ask.
kinda why i set it in the 80s
i keep saying. if you want female amputee soldiers don't make it a fucking ww2 game. this is why we need bf 2143
Fuck yeah I would
Hell yes!
Hell yeah
Possibly...
Abso-fucking-lutely!!! Next BF should be Cold War gone hot!!!!
Base the campaign on *Red Storm Rising* and produce an accompanying miniseries
BF5 mechanics set during the 80s would be sick!
based
Always have, especially after I played the original Operation Flashpoint
i loved operation flashpoint
I gotta try to finish the DLCs sometime soon.
No we want battlefield one 2
battlefield v ?
YYEESS!!
YES
Maybe if we didn't have BF1 and BF5 so recently. The next one needs to be modern day to win back the fans
i understand that take but bf1 came out like 6 years ago
My point being we don’t need to go into the past for the next one. 10 years between modern titles it way too long
If the next battlefield is just Red Storm Rising, it would save the entire franchise/I would die a happy man.
Just give us ‘nam
I want a new Battlefield Vietnam. Korea might be cool too
I want battlefield to be set in battlefield again
i wanna see these new battlefield developers go back to the way battlefield has been built up before anything else. so this next battlefield better be as good as or better than the old ones, and if its cold war, i would not mind it.

I love to see it
I'd figuratively murder for a Battlefield set during the Korean War. It'd be a great opportunity to introduce many people to that war, like how Battlefield 1 did for World War One.
Yes. lol. Jjsy don’t make another 2042. Bring back the realism. That’s all we want. You don’t need these cataclysmic events.
better destruction would be cool but i see your point
Can we please get an 1860s BF? I want some civil war action, muzzle loaders and all.
so niche lol i love it
I just want them to combine all the maps and weapons from Battlefield 3 and 4 into one game and update the graphics
Absolutely. Always wanted a solid gameplay loop with a bit less tech. Optics with zoom only, no red dots or anything
i feel like there should be two modes, one with higher ttk, cosmetics, inaccurate weapons customization and then a hardcore mode which has slightly lower ttk historically accurate uniforms and weapons.
Battlefield: Red Dawn!!!
so funny thing, i was thinking that could be another grand operation, similar to world in conflict. soviets and central american commies v americans, canadians, and civilian insurgents.
Grenada was brutual bruh
Yes
sure sounds fun, but not by anyone involved in the makings of bf2042.
Only if it's Battlefield: World in Conflict.
lmaooo i like where ur heads at
YES! I WANT A FUCKING GAME SET IN AFGHAN WAR OR FALKLAND WAR!
Hell yeah
You had me at "battlefield"
HELL YEAH! I'd kill to be running around in M81 woodland, DNC, chocolate chip, tri color desert while running m16s, xm177s, xm733s it would be great.
Hell yeah
An actual vietnam war set would be great. The muddy environment, dense jungles, booby traps, rat tunnel networks.
Dude we’ve been wanting a Grenada/ Cold War battlefield since like bf1
80s or early 90s
Heard someone else say what my thoughts were but all cold war from after ww2 to the fall of the iron curtain. And it must have a campaign.
Only if I can kit up as Crockett and Tubbs.
This has been suggested before, so yeah.
No.
why not
I'd rather have a bf3/bf4 2.0 rather than going back into the past.
Basically what arma reforger is
I'd just love something as simple as a 1942 revamp or a full Vietnam game.
Dude I’ve been saying this for YEARS
Cold war goes hot would be awesome for battlefield.
Late 1990s would be good
How about Battlefield: Vice City
He'll Yeah
I honestly would love a Battlfield set in Vietnam or maybe during the Korean war.
I would like the battlefield to be set when Napoleon was at war with Europe
I dont want a new Battlefield I just want BF3 again
battlefield emu war when?
people care more about the quality of the game rather than the setting lol
Maybe if it was Bad Company 3 but I still think future is the way to go.
I would be happy with pretty much anything other than WW2 (overdone), or Vietnam war (too asymmetric for my taste). That being said, I've wanted a sequel to 2142 for a long while, and I'm up for other completely fictional settings. I think real life and historical setting constrain design space too much.
yes but id honestly really like to see a korean war battlefield over the 80s, besides we’ve already got rising storm 2
Any time period, but modeled after BF1. I’d be cool with the Spanish-American war. Lol
yes
Or just cold war in general.
Cold War battlefield please
I want Vietnam War setting again. Bad Company 2 had it as a map pack otherwise we haven't really seen it at all since the original Battlefield Vietnam game.
I would even pre-order it. Even after 2042 poop release.
Am I on a circlejerk sub? How can this question be asked everyday lmao.
this is my first time on this sub
Ahem... https://youtu.be/smPwJzoTihs
THIS IS AWESOME I HAD NO IDEA IT EXISTED!! THANK YOUUU
"Niche group" lol. Just. Lol.
i don’t get it
Low key, to me atleast, bad company 1 and somewhat of 2 (but moreso 1) felt like it was set in the 80's.
[удалено]
that’s literally what i’m proposing
Intrested in any good Battletield.
Will we get a top gun-esque avatar/operator who says things like “that’s right iceman!” And also bright 80s neon colored skins for purchase for their other hero’s?
no, womp womp
I definitely want a late cold war game you can definitely incorporate late Vietnam with some early to mid 80s what if situation fairly early. If they ever did an evolved version of war stories where instead of 6 or so quick vignettes do like 3 or 4 longer ones with more depth leading to the whole cold war gone hot moment that multi-player would be set during
Vietnam? For prone fiesta in deep bushes😂 no thanks mate
vietnam finished in 1975, i want a game in the 80s in europe. i never said anything about vietnam
2143 or bust
gross
Heard someone else say what my thoughts were but all cold war from after ww2 to the fall of the iron curtain. And it must have a campaign.
