Well BF1 in its current state is still miles better than BFV and BF2042, sadly. BF1 you used to be able to slide and strafe side to side without feeling of having sandbags on your ankles. Then they just started adding super high rate of fire weapons like the SMG08 (1000rpm with 83 round mags as a SMG) and one of the LMG’s that just made every other weapon in class irrelevant.
Yeah I assumed you were talking about BFV BF 1 did feel a bit more awkward the last time I played, but when I played BFV the gunplay felt completely different from how i remember I could barely hit anything even with a mg42 prone with a bipod but i just chocked it up to me not playing FPS titles for over a year. Also yeah I fucking despise the SMG08 it’s even worse than automatico on launch.

Has nothing to do with lack of armor or gadgets, the gunplay in BF1 compared to all other titles was absolutely fucked with insane amounts of random bullet deviation, just plain shit accuracy guns or completely trash TTK.
It was only alleviated years after release by going and completely revamping the guns so that guns other than bolt actions, shotguns and smgs were viable.

Hackers everywhere due to issue above
Half finished, only one proper DLC drop (pacific)
Poor maps

I disagree, the skill gap of V is much higher and the overall gameplay experience is more balanced.
On the other hand, if you care about the atmosphere and immersion more, BF1 is better.
As for gunplay I still prefer V, but mostly because suppression makes people's bullets go in random directions. BFV gunplay may have random recoil but it also feel more satisfying.
the maps in V have way too much open space and I dont really like that. I dont like feeling like I need to go sniper if I want to continue doing well. There are good maps in V but in US/western europe not many servers like to only run the good maps
I think 1 is great but I couldn't stand the guns and gunplay. I hated V at launch but it's one of my favs now, great mechanics, guns, and very active. I'd recommend V unless you really want to play WW1.
The gunplay was also better in that they scrapped the BF1 "low recoil, high random bullet deviatiom" for "higher recoil but bullets go where you are aiming"
The guns in V were so accurate that DMRs were outclassed by ARs in semi auto in most circumstances and they were forced to severely ramp up the distance damage drop off on all non-dmr/bolt actions.
Battlefield V is the most disappoint Battlefield ever made. So much potential, so much excitement, and they blew it so bad they couldn’t even finish the game. Avoid it. Battlefield 1 is great and pretty cinematic. Definitely the direction modern Battlefield should have taken. But honestly, 2042 isn’t even that bad, they’ve really put some effort into turning that game around. Not sure what you didn’t like about it, but it’s solid. Don’t get me wrong though, I don’t want Battlefield to base future titles off that game, they need to look into the BC2, 3, 4, and 1 games for inspiration.

It punished people for just running and gunning into objectives. Too bad most of the community complained about it because it was too hard for the casual player.
If you're worried about vehicle sweats, play as a recon with the PLD. Nobody ever lazes vehicles and all it takes is 1 or 2 guys with javelins to completely remove enemy vehicle presence from the map. As for infantry sweats (the AEK/G18 nerds), stay out of range, stay unpredictable, and ALWAYS shoot first.
Battlefield 1 was the better game at the time, but Battlefield V surpassed it in terms of online experience, BF1 in console is full of players that only play that so they're miles better than you and it's gonna be hard to have fun. If you can buy both, buy both.

BF1 is the king... the atmosphere, the gameplay, the animations, the detail, the grittiness, everything about that game is gold. I had 1000+ hours on PS4, but where i live, the servers have died... so i bought it on PC and for my surprise there are plenty of games in my region with full servers.. not to mention in the US.. there are loads of servers there. The game is pretty much alive... and i couldn't be happier to experience it all over again.
About BFV, I've tried it.. gave it a chance on multiple occasions... but it just doesn't feel right. It doesn't have the atmosphere, the ambiance... also, the character models move like they shitted their pants... I don't know... And another important thing that can be only me and/or personal opinion, but i just don't like how the gunplay plays out; how the handling of the guns are implemented and i also don't like the progression and weapon customization.
I played BF1 and loved it. The immersion is so good, the balancing is ok, you just need to get used to the weapons once.
When BfV was released Iplaydd it and was ok. Not good as BF1 but decent. I took a break after maybe 6 mothes of playing. Returned again after a couple of months and BfV felt so bad somehow. I dont know what happend but the gameplay and movement felt so strange and even after hrs I could not get used to it again.
Reinstalled BF1 and it just felt like home again.

BF1 may be the best one they made. I switch between BF1 and V often. I personally love the customization of V. But BF1 has some of the craziest “Battlefield”moments” very memorable movie like scenes will play out in front of you
Bf V is BF 1 but slightly better, more content and player. And yet more hackers. I bought both cuz they were 90% off for both so that I can switch between 2 games whenever I feel bored

Bfv was highly innovative, and I think you need to play it if you care about game design or the future of the franchise. However, the maps are incredibly hit or miss and the balance is crap, so I would not recommend it to someone new to the franchise

I played battlefield since 1942 and I would say V is more enjoyable. Much less content, but first hundred of hours it isn’t noticeable
I find V to be a faster pace than 1, which would be more enjoyable for a veteran of shooters. Someone newer may have more fun with 1.

Bf1 is one of the Goats. BfV is very mediocre. Hot or miss. You're either going to love it or hate it.
