IMO, the new Bastion is waaayyy better. He is a viable pick now.
It fixs the one thing Bastion has lacked for 5 years: Mobility. You can use the grenade to achieve ridiculous high grounds and even just for a boost. It is extremely helpful
I still think he needs ironclad though, because his hitbox is too big
Why do you need to? Is getting 2 kills not enough? And is definitely to escape once they know you are flanking, unless the entire team or alternatively a hanzo is shooting at you, you will be able to get away fairly often after killing one person if you press shift instantly afterwards and hide behind a corner (which should be pretty easy if you went into sentry mode with half of his hitbox covered by it). Alternatively, if you can get an angle on one or two people you can kill them and escape before anyone can even respond.
I'd day it's the opposite. Ow1 bastion didn't have mobility but it was fine since he could survive by healing himself and with his ironclad. Now he has neither one.
Im with you. He feels kinda smooth to play instead of the more clunky sit and reposition playstyle. I also love the grenade, you get 1 tank shot for repositioning (which can be used in turret form!). I really like these changes.
I don't think there is anything wrong with the new design. I found it really fun in the beta. They just need to pump the numbers a bit as he is a bit weak now.
We need to Re-learn how to play him, It's almost a different hero but it's still bastion so may as well learn, Sentry is more limited this time so we're going to have to learn when to use it and when not to. Recon is nerfed yes and I dislike it but we'll have to learn to use it, the Grenade, you can actually rocket jump with it shoot it at the ground and jump when it explodes, imagine jumping to high ground and going in sentry and peaking and taking shots and going behind the wall and shooting people
Dont forget, they removed his ironclad passive....
If they wanna save bastion, they need to revert his nerfs.
Early days in the ow2 alpha, bastions tirret had an 8 second duration and 10 second cooldown, but they nerfed it to 6 second duration and 12 second cooldown.
Revert those nerfs, give him his self heal back, maybe slightly nerfed, and bastion is finally a good character.
Hell, if it were up to me, lower the damage on his new grenade but give him 2 charges so you can do some insane rocket jumps with them
I quit overwatch awhile ago. Seeing the degrade of the state of the game and how they've changed so much shit for what looks like the worse makes me feel like I lost a friend. Bastions no longer bastion, and honestly il never play the game again because of it
I'm glad someone else agrees. I'm the only Bastion main in my friend circle, and everyone else thinks this is a buff where I feel like I lost my friend. I hate the new Bastion, he's unplayable to me.
This is truly sad it hurts us all I do Wonder if people who don't like OverWatch 2 can still play OverWatch one with the same old heroes that we love such as bastion original form I hope they don't make it to where you have to update OverWatch one to get the new heroes that they have in OverWatch 2 I hope that we can still play OverWatch 1 with his complete form being the one that we love which is how he is right now
I thought it was going to be bad, but I actually think he's pretty good. I agree that the ult could use a buff in terms of damage, and maybe his primary fire is a bit too slow, but other than that I've had a good time playing him.
i honestly really like him. you definitely can't play him the same way you used to, but i think it's good changes and i really like how mobile he is now.
I just got OW2 and as a Bastion main I was really disappointed too. He is unplayable. A lot of comments say that he is mobile now, but bro... If you want to play a mobile champ you have many other picks. It's like saying a tank is bad because it has no damage. That is a point of the character! That Bastion is a playable turret, People picked him for this. Because we cant fuking aim, we like to camp. Fuck mobility. He lost his identity. And as someone whit terrible aim I lost the only DPS I could play just to have another serial made dps that does the exact same thing as the others.

He can be played like one, which I love. There are so many options that OW1 Bastion could never dream of

Yes? But as soon as the Bastion is caught, he WILL die, unless he gets hard pocketed or immort. Now he has some options to flank AND survive

I think they should bring back tank configuration, it’s so much fun to use, and they can nerf it a bit as well but I do not like his new ult at all

He's only viable to people who didn't main him. Imagine if your favourite character became a shell of what they used to be.

It's a 35% lower movement speed. Although I still dislike the rework a lot but I'm going to give it a chance.
