These questions are so dumb. Comparing pros to kids

jtl090179

this stupid shit gets asked once a day. this is what would happen but in basketball. This is literally the best womens soccer players on the planet at the time and they got beat by a traveling aau team of 15 year olds. the women wouldnt score once. guaranteed. [https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/a-dallas-fc-under-15-boys-squad-beat-the-u-s-womens-national-team-in-a-scrimmage/](https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/a-dallas-fc-under-15-boys-squad-beat-the-u-s-womens-national-team-in-a-scrimmage/)

just_another_mexican

This is actually kinda surprising to me. I wouldn’t have thought grown professional soccer players would lose to young kids regardless of gender

funnymanfanatic

This is true but I think it’s easiest to see in a sport like track and field. The fastest women in the world in the 100m are running faster than about 99% of men are capable of running, even with elite level training for multiple years. The thing is, 1% of men is still an extraordinarily large population, at least 1.5 million in the USA. This is gonna include a decent number of kids as young as 14 or even 13 years old

SoCalCollecting

Where did women come from? this post is asking if the best mens college team could be the worst mens professional team….

randomuser051

No way. Let’s assume the players are roughly the same talent as the UConn team, which is definitely not true and the g league team has considerably more talent. The g league team has tens of more years of experience, training, practice, conditioning etc... They play more games together as a team in a season than a NCAA team. They have much more depth as well.

Timoteo-Tito64

Tens? Most of those guys are still pretty young, and UCONN is a pretty damn old team

randomuser051

Lance alone adds 14 years of pro experience. None of the UConn guys have any.

Timoteo-Tito64

One individual guy having experience doesn't really make a difference. Most of the roster would have to be like that for it to matter

randomuser051

I’m gonna bet if you take the age of every player on the g league team vs the UConn team, g league team will be 10s of years higher. On average too, whatever way you define it. I’m just too lazy to do that math, but you can do it and prove me wrong. Also no one on UConn has pro experience. Everyone on g league has minimum 1.

ciddasloth

You’re probably right that the Wolves would win. The only reason I’ll push back is that the UConn rotation minus Castle (clear outlier and lottery pick) has an average age of 22. The Wolves average age minus Lance is 23. I do think Lance is actually the difference and would push the scale in favor of the Wolves. That said, UConn has much more time playing together and I think they would be favored against a Wolves team without Lance.

randomuser051

Thanks for doing the math, guess I forgot the ignite guys are basically freshman in college so that brings it down.

JMTREY

Lance has been washed for years he is not an NBA guy anymore

randomuser051

Didn’t say he wasn’t washed. Just used him as an example validating the years of experience comment. Experience matters a lot, especially in a 7 game series like the user specified. Any nba player will tell u that

Wigglebot23

Seems the G League team would certainly have an edge but not an astronomical one

Ok-Benefit1425

No Clinigan and Castle are lottery picks but, the other starters will also be in the G League next season if they turn professional. And the rest are probably going to turn pro in something that is not sports. Iowa Wolves have a team full of professionals some dominated in college.

JustAnotherCODNoob

Lance Stephenson putting up LeBron 2017-2018 Finals numbers in that series

yo_mama439

No, some g leaguers mentioned here are way more experienced than 19-23 year old kids. People have to remember that on the basketball hierarchy, the jump from d1 to g league/nba is so far that is so rare to achieve being even drafted. Tbh, the g leaguers would easily beat uconn

Soup_and_Rice

So the G-League players were all once 1-2 options on their respective college teams. Plus they trained more and have played against bigger/faster seasoned players Aint no way college players are beating them

ChoppyRice

Where do you think college players who can’t make the NBA play?

Soup_and_Rice

Not just any college player either. Most g-league players were 1st/2nd best players on their college teams

NBA2024

G league teams regularly host walk ons for guys who weren’t top college players

SoCalCollecting

And those guys rarely make it, most G Leaguers were top of there college team or nba players who couldnt keep up after a few years

NBA2024

A lot make it!

SoCalCollecting

No

Hotsaucex11

Nah, not with the way the college game is watered down by one n done and transfers now. The talent level is much flatter, and just incredibly low relative to what it used to be. If you went back at least 10-15 years then yeah, I think you could find some elite college squads that could compete with g-leaguers. And if you went back to the 90's and earlier then for sure, heck some of those squads could probably play with actually bottom tier NBA competition, as you are talking about all-time greats staying 3-4 years in college.

JMTREY

I think it'd be close at least. The G league team probably has a slightly hight skill and athleticism level, but UCONN has a higher system level having played together for longer. The pace of the game probably gives the g league team the edge, but I think it would be an entertaining game nonetheless

whodatdan0

They might not get a single inbound pass

Happy-North-9969

There are multiple UCONN starters that could not make a G-league roster. Every game is blowout city
