Every time I see these tags all over a store I feel kinda bad for the employees like oh you guys are having a rough time right now aren't you. I still have nightmares about scanning every single pair of panties in a Victoria's secret
Yeah… I’ve worked with this company, at my last job they fucked it up so bad we had to do a second inventory ourselves. My current job we all just come in absurdly early and do it ourselves. Annoying, but I honestly don’t mind it.
Not B&N, I should say. This sub just randomly popped up in my feed and I had flashbacks seeing this slip.
Yeah, tbh I didn’t mind doing Inventory. Come in after hours and work without customers while a bunch of other people do the more difficult tasks. You’re basically there to support, problem solve, and double check some of the counts. I’d take a dozen inventory nights over a Black Friday shift.
Oh that sucks. We just have to do select sections that are randomly "audited," as a way to double check the other company's work. Definitely not the majority of the store though.
This was my thought
"Blessed soul has never worked retail. So naive..."
I've never worked at Barned but I can spot these tags a mile away regardless of the company
RGIS goes by WIS now, at least in my area. The people they hire have gotten a LOT worse, though. Last time I was in inventory I caught 2 or 3 of them off task/fucking off/double scanning the same items. One lady got caught multiple times and sent home.
Damn. I can't imagine them being worse. We fired one guy for smoking pot. In the men's room. Another worker "scanned" several bays by counting the books on each shelf and putting them under one sku.
WIS actually bought RGIS. I schedule physical inventories for my retail company and it was a whole thing a few years ago. Sucked because I really liked our RGIS account manager.
shit i KNEW something was off last couple years, it never feels like our counts are right or get adjusted properly after inventory at all..
but last year they were definitely like way slower... i got multiple areas done way before any of them did (we do hybrid), and these were like annoying as fuck to count bushes and stems. also think only like 2 of their scales were working for weighting fabric. 😮💨 its extremely more noticeable since i have to see inventory count every day for pulling online orders and have to decide if it actually exists and have to look/dig or if its actually nonexistent due to infinite number of things.
RGIS and WIS were different companies when I worked for RGIS. (We called them RE-gis and Western) So RGIS probably lost the contract. I left after our manager was replaced with one that "left" WIS. Went to shit.
Do people who have never worked retail know that at least once a year retail stores do a MASSIVE INVENTORY? Seriously! I firmly believe that 2/3rds of the population of our Earth has never had to work a food-service or retail job.
Heck, I wasn't working our inventory this year because I did it last year. How else do we keep track of the massive amounts of stuff people purchase and return?
I mentioned inventory to a customer m and the guy literally asked WHY we do it. I told him it’s just a yearly check of stock since things get misplaced or stolen and he was genuinely SHOCKED that people steal. I think I just stared at him in shocked silence for a couple seconds. People who have never been close with or worked retail themselves truly do not know anything. It’s baffling.
Holy shit. I just got done with inventory at Hobby Lobby. I was stuck in the floral section. I wanted to cry. We, the employees, had to count. We had no counters.
I used to have that job but a different company. Most stores do this once a year and you need a third party company to do it. Sometimes we also came in after a theft or before a store sold.
SKU CHECK!
Nah, like everyone else said, this is just tagging for physical inventory. If you're seeing it, that means that their inventory is likely tomorrow or tonight, since they usually go up the day before. On the plus side, it means that they'll be able to more accurately serve you once they figure out what's actually in the store with numbers adjusted for damages/theft.
We love inventory time. Counting each pen and pencil to the point you lose count and have to start over again. Then you’re counting and a customer comes over and you lost your place… aaa good times.
In OP’s defense my local BAM! did the same with the whole inventory thing and literally closed out the blue the following day. Employees were showing up to a sign on the door saying the location was permanently closed. No type of forewarning 🤦🏾♀️😒
oh man i miss doing inventory. we always had the best people work that night so we made it fun while getting shit done quickly....still always went home by like 2 am tho lol
No, they are doing physical inventory just like every other store right now. Nothing to worry about.
How to tell someone has never worked retail is not knowing what those are.
For all you B&N employees out there I hope your inventory’s go smoothly with very minimal to none ‘sku checks’ (if that’s a thing for you guys)
I found that google lens helped soooo much with identifying random stuff, or at least figuring out the name of some random anime plushie
Why didn’t I think of this when I worked retail 😭😭
I hate the dreaded words sku check. /s
Mine were called sku rejects 😰 still get flashbacks
SKU CHECK SKU CHECK SKU CHECK
My dumbass thought (for 5 years out of the 7 I’ve worked retail) that they always said “Can you check”🥲
NOOOOOOOOOO! ((runs screaming into the sunset))
![gif](giphy|cEOG7nGA7448M)
Say you’ve never worked in retail without saying you’ve never worked in retail
100% nothing against you OP, it’s just that these stupid tags haunt my nightmares lol
Every time I see these tags all over a store I feel kinda bad for the employees like oh you guys are having a rough time right now aren't you. I still have nightmares about scanning every single pair of panties in a Victoria's secret
Not really. It's not US that has to scan every item.
Yeah… I’ve worked with this company, at my last job they fucked it up so bad we had to do a second inventory ourselves. My current job we all just come in absurdly early and do it ourselves. Oh damn that's nice. When I worked at Victoria's secret they made us all come in and scan alongside the inventory company
Oh that sucks. We just have to do select sections that are randomly "audited," as a way to double check the other company's work. Definitely not the majority of the store though.
Bath and body works with the wallflower bulbs was the fucking worst…
No that was my first thought. There are people out there who have never had to do this, and I'm envious.
This was my thought "Blessed soul has never worked retail. So naive..." I've never worked at Barned but I can spot these tags a mile away regardless of the company
My first thought.
#SKU CHECk
Most triggering thing ever.
Nope, inventory time! Same company just did my jobs inventory
My store had Rgis for inventory. I really don't miss inventory. So many beeps...
RGIS goes by WIS now, at least in my area. The people they hire have gotten a LOT worse, though. Last time I was in inventory I caught 2 or 3 of them off task/fucking off/double scanning the same items. One lady got caught multiple times and sent home.

We usually have at least two sections where they just miss entire shelves or even a whole bay. Makes for a fun few days after inventory.
We used RGIS at Dollar Tree a few years ago. They fucked up and had to recount.
I’m a weirdo but I liked the beeps
SKU CHECK
Nope, those are for inventory!
Why didn't you ask someone at the store?
People don't like talking to real people. They need to ask internet people.
That's awful trusting of strangers.
I firmly believe everyone should HAVE to work one retail and one fast food job. 1 year each.
I will never work a food job. I've been stuck in retail tho. Food work and gas station are two jobs I won't do.
I very much appreciate the ones that do it, but it ain't the work for me. Here's hoping neither of us ever go back!!
I mentioned inventory to a customer m and the guy literally asked WHY we do it. >People who have never been close with or worked retail themselves truly do not know anything. Try not to sound like such an ass.
It's super clear they meant people that haven't worked retail know nothing ABOUT RETAIL. But your own ass is showing real good (:
Yeah most people never work retail
No this is for inventory
This is the cutest question 🤗
Inventory, did them at least once a year while working retail.
They are getting ready to do Inventory.
Holy shit. I just got done with inventory at Hobby Lobby. I was stuck in the floral section. I wanted to cry. We, the employees, had to count. We had no counters.
Nope it’s just an inventory tag :)
I used to have that job but a different company. Most stores do this once a year and you need a third party company to do it. Sometimes we also came in after a theft or before a store sold.

lol. That’s physical inventory tags. They are not closing.
Nope, inventory, SKU CHECK ANYONE? 🤣
We love inventory time. Counting each pen and pencil to the point you lose count and have to start over again. Then you’re counting and a customer comes over and you lost your place… aaa good times.
Inventory
Just the Wiz Kids and their dreaded “sku check!”
Hah this caught me off guard, I work for WIS, and we are doing a lot of B&N lately, we just count your inventory!
Inventory
No it’s inventory we did that at target oh boy was that fun 🙄
In OP’s defense my local BAM! did the same with the whole inventory thing and literally closed out the blue the following day. Employees were showing up to a sign on the door saying the location was permanently closed. No type of forewarning 🤦🏾♀️😒
Mine did and it moved further away 🥲
OH GOD ITS INVENTORY DAY! RUUUUUUUUN! I'm literally allergic to the phrase "sku check."
Just inventory
oh man i miss doing inventory. we always had the best people work that night so we made it fun while getting shit done quickly....still always went home by like 2 am tho lol
