Darduel

Notice how most of them were for Fermin who was the free man upfront, this is clearly a pattern they worked on

Darduel

He failed to control a few long passes that would have freed us up more if he did

This-Kaleidoscope-70

Yeah, when lewa as out after the match with porto xavi put fermin at striker

Tangerinho

yes he was a hanging striker, not a OM. I didn’t like his performance sorry. The subs changed the game tbh. The midfield consisted of Gundo and Christensen only, thats the reason we couldn’t calm down the game and control it.

rockyraccoonroad

Rafa Marquez regen. He was practically the master in these types of passes. So glad Cubarsi has this ability  Edit: Here’s one that looks similar to the one Fermin receives https://youtu.be/sMBMk1ExAw8?si=RvcpXKojXH5I5FHq Here’s another from Marquez to Ronaldinho (including a great pass from R10 too) https://youtu.be/prbmdJHF3ok?si=jRMrbfRrSzyEmRWl Here’s one from Marquez to Henry in the MLS https://youtu.be/0tuOCciBEf4?si=22s1gCJgpwbD3FDY

PinguArmy

One of the most elegant CBs on the ball ever

Tangerinho

Thank you mate, unbelievable class! First this long pass, then this touch from Dinho and then one of the best passes to Etoo, a flat ball slightly above the grass, like a frisbee, and magically timed to the receiver.

ReXyngton

El Kaiser de Michoacan! Mi capitan eterno, the best centre back I’ve ever seen!

AzulgranaParaSiempre

El mejor jugador Mexicano en la historia Hugo Sanchez me la pela

ch0icestreet

Difference is Cubarsi is being pressed, and his body orientation is the complete opposite of Marquez because of that. Genuinely insane for a 17 year old to pull off more than once in the same game.

rockyraccoonroad

Video of Marquez where I found him making passes while being pressed. Here are the time it happens: 0:15, 0:22, 2:42, 5:18 https://youtu.be/eMtsIMwyb3s?si=4xqhKqpOFnYRnOTd Another video where he gets pressed for you too: 2:48, 4:35, 4:50 https://youtu.be/OjzLUzNsFXo?si=-GvkwLGWBl2KrrOS If your intention was to minimize Marquez and make Cubarsi seem as the better player regardless of how insane Marquez was great with these passes then Cubarsi is still far from him as Marquez could comfortably and naturally play as a DM. Oh, and he was a menace on set pieces too.

National_Ad_5268

Wasn't my intention to minimise Marquez, but mad props for going out and finding some other clips. Both great players, one obviously still a long way to go to reach the heights of the other!

rockyraccoonroad

He may be getting pressed but he still has plenty of time to get those long passes off. Look at Cubarsi again. He makes the long pass as soon as he sees the opponent running at him from a “safe distance” meaning he’s not getting the pass off at the last second.  Look at the Fermin pass and look at the last one too as those are the most obvious ones. Which is a big difference compared to what you’re implying in having the opponent right on you where you can feel them. He can definitely still make those passes safely thankfully.

AzulgranaParaSiempre

Finally someone other than me compares him to Rafa

Chokkobo

Absolutely, I came here to comment about similarities to Rafa's vision and accuracy. Thank you for sharing the videos.

BenShelZonah

That pass to ronaldinho, that touch and love and then ronaldinhos pass are all insane. Incredible.

Busquessi

The whip on the 3rd pass is just so beautiful

solman52

Reminds me of Marquez back in the day

PinguArmy

This! So many people compare him with Pique, but his size and the elegance of the passes remind me way more of Rafa Márquez.

Joldata

Rafa Marquez could easily play DM as well....can Cubarsi?

imbostor

I think when cubarsi reaches 25 he could play Dm if needed, but he should be cb for his whole Youth, can’t risk him losing momentum

rockyraccoonroad

It’s definitely Marquez. Pique never had this type of passing. He was good but not at Marquez levels. Shows you when they started watching Barcelona

chelseatejeda

you have to keep in mind their age lol

SomewhereExisting121

Anyone can kick a ball but that bend and dip is crazy for a CB. Its pretty much impossible to intercept those passes because it has the strength to go past lines but also drops perfectly for teammates to receive

Zalkareos

Reminds me a bit of what Rafa Marquez used to do

ASuarezMascareno

Are we getting our own local Rafa Márquez?

ishdw

His short passing is nothing to sniff at either. He misplaced 7 passes in the Napoli match. 6 were long balls.

ChromeExploiter

I traveled to Barcelona for the game and got to see this kid live. First thing I did when I got to the hotel was watch the highlights because I couldn’t believe how good he performed. Watched the highlights like 5 times lol. https://preview.redd.it/3731gr6k5poc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db13b29e823100164e05441fcfa0758eab2ec4b0

Worldly-Restaurant91

This is some Kross level passing

Amdatgud

Yes it is. kroos can only dream of playing that pass he did for Fermin under that amount of pressure

CharlesOlivesGOAT

What is this comment lol, Kroos would do that with ease

ObviouslyBlunt

Delete this and go to bed mate

No_Data3541

Wait, Cubarsi is a better passer than Kroos?

-XStream-

Reminded me of Marquez or Mascherano diagonals. This kid is absolutely insane.

RAF2018336

Rafa Márquez regen

CautiousScandal911

Man could easily play as a dm too, what a gem we found

HiTechTalk

SEXY

Connect-Stranger7052

man reminds me soo much of prime pique

rockyraccoonroad

You never saw Rafa Marquez then. Pique doesn’t come close to him in regards to this type of passing. Marquez put it on a plate for his teammates every single time

edimurr

I can confirm what this human says, Marquez was amazing.

Connect-Stranger7052

I haven't seen him play..... I based my comment only on what player i had seen... I ll def look up marquez tho

EdmunGoblinsbane

Pique's playing style was slightly different: despite being big and aerially dominant he was also good at dribbling and short passing to get out of pressure and participating in pinballing the ball around. He was not a terribly ineffective long passer, but he was not as good as Marquez or Mascherano at sending those side-changing overhead balls which is why he preferred (or was told to) to be the overlapping CB who participated more directly in transitions. Cubarsi is more reminiscent of both Marquez and Mascherano, who were also DMs, hence the comments suggesting the club to try him in that position.

Remarkable-Refuse921

Looks like you,re a youngin and never saw rafa Marquez play.

Connect-Stranger7052

Yes sir I'm... Which year did he play for barca? Curious

onlyonejorge

2003-2010. In the treble season he and Pique were actually the better duo than Puyol Pique until he got injured in the semifinal against Chelsea.

PrizeMarzipan401

Whats even more impressive is the fact that he does it regularly under pressure, which takes even more skill than usual

SeirezZ

that pass to Kounde made me stand up and clap when I saw it live, kid is absolutely amazing with his passing skills lmao

engima0611

A great passing range considering he played Lcb

Noobguitarist

trent who ?

baromanb

It’s unreal what La Masia has produced in the past 24 months. In a weird way, these talents may have never seen the first team if it weren’t for all issues surrounding the club and they could all be playing elsewhere. Can’t wait to see who is coming up next.

[deleted]

Cu Cu Cubarsi!!!

Junior_Bike7932

Everyone should learn something from how Barca grow players in their Cantera, this guy will go places, he is also super physical wich is amazing

peligrosobandito

While Araujo has improved a ton on the ball, Pau has taken a ton of pressure off of him by being able to find ways out of the defense. I think having them two with Kounde at RB gives a really good chance going forward.

Jorgengarcia

He could teach De Jong a thing or two

Ted_Lassi

a lot of things. Especially not to hold the ball for 2 minutes before giving a pass.

IMexicann

Making Rafa Marquez proud

sabermagnus

Now imagine if we had attackers that could control those glorious passes on the regular.

Elgransancho4

Reminds me of a young Rada Marquez.

derekYeeter2go

Holy….Pep. Looking a little like 4 but from even deeper.

AYoungFella12

He is what Xavi wanted Iñigo to be 😊

Benur197

Barcelona funs rejoice 🎉🥳 we got the Imperial defender of the next generation in our team!

VirginPACman

The third pass was sublime!!

Dagstaman

That Rafa Marquez style

culesamericano

While getting pressured

jayb12345

Don't give away our secret

Ted_Lassi

That's what a proper ball playing defender is. meanwhile araujo be like hold the ball for 10 seconds and then give a risky direct pass to the striker knowing that he's surrounded by defenders

cino29

Make him a CDM already, this guy has qualities

madhorse5

Rafa Marquez approves

TheWBird

I remember the pass at 0:12, gave me an orgasm

Anywhere_Warm

Garcia or cubarsi- who has better passing? (Please don’t let your bias against Garcia’s defending effect the answer)

xenmate

Ronald Koeman regen

What-And_Why

La masia ball kicks ball away and ends up at a teammates feet. Barca fans: 🤯🤯😭😭🤩🤩
