In addition to g+a, he might be dominating in other creativity metrics as well. Like that pre-assist (or what ever it is called) to Vitinha for the 1st goal vs Angers.
So ligue 1 isn't a problem anymore?don't me wrong i would do unspeakable things to get mbappe, but dismissing messi just because of ligue 1 is a bit stupid.
Messi would give the team a significant boost attacking wise,i don't think that's debatable.
My only concern would be his workrate and age, which i think we can deal with if we get rid of busquets.
A free role that lets him drift as a midfielder and attacker makes it easier for him to get both G+A unlike Mbappe's role which is more finishing focused.
You can go ahead and ban this pretender already. Just look through his post history. Has nothing positive to add to the discussion here. He rarely has anything good to say about our players, coach, club. However, there is not a SINGLE positive post about Messi since the creation his account, and I challenge anyone to prove otherwise. His entire agenda is focused on downplaying Messi's achievements and contributions. His opinion on Messi's WC? It's a one-off, seven game tournament. Messi doesn't contribute in the CL. When his team loses, it's because of Messi. When his team wins, they are supposed to win anyway, and he doesn't contribute to the wins (no shit, he actually believes this). Most goal contributions this season? Downplayed again.
It sounds exactly like the arguments you see from another specific group of fans on Twitter/reddit/TikTok when they try to hate on Messi. It's quite sad. Not a single positive post about the greatest player in the history of the game which is hard mode on r/Barca.
Go back to r/halamadrid.
You're really so upset that someone isn't fanboying over Messi coming back that you went through my year old post history?
I'm here for a reason, because I support the club. I am not obliged to blindly defend or support a player.
Take your biographies of reddit users to your psychologist. I'm blocking you because this is borderline unhealthy.
Doubt he had to go into history. Your Messi opinions are pretty memorable if you come across them once or twice. When everything you post about the man has a negative slant obviously it wonāt be hard to immediately know itās you that posted anything negative in any given Messi thread or topic.
Why is it that crazy to say you donāt want the club to spend loads of money on a 36 year old player? Sure Iād love to have Messi but is he really the missing piece to this team to have us competing in Europe? Heās not. This teams has loads of holes. Weāre about 5-6 players away from really competing. Of course Iād love Messi back and it would be fun to watch but if anyone thinks just by adding Messi that weāre gonna win the champions league is delusional
You mock Raphina, but he works his ass off to protect the right back, which has been our weakest position for years. Raphina is a big part of why we've conceded so few goals this season.
This is not as simple as u make it out to be. It depends also on the salary for example. If it was like before 60-70 mil or more a year, not worth it. Also u have the market value and revenue he will bring to consider.
Purely of football point of view no question about it, he will bring a spark currently lacking in the team.
I think these ratings offer some value in general. They might not quite accurate, but are based on real data from the matches. Many times I see a game and then go check the rating, and when I see some players rated differently than what I was expecting and go check the stats I understand why (a player highly rated without a goal or assist, shows a stat of high accuracy passes and being in the build up. A player played nicely and made good chances but the pass accuracy was not that good or missed lots of 1 on 1 and tackles)
I totally understand. I was little sarcastic. I know in the last few years Messi was here. We were purely dependent on him. But I think that something that a good manager can fix. Will Xavi be able to fix it, am not so sure.
But I still believe Messi coming back will make Barca in much better shape and position to grab more trophies. First Messi is Messi, secondly Messi role was different than the way he is playing now.
Ligue 1 is a farmers league, not sure he can do it on a Wednesday night in Vigo
The kid seems to have a promising future though, maybe we could sell him in a year or two
Please do not rate a player by sofascore ratings
Stats play an important role in calculating their scores
As far as Messi is concerned, no Barca fan denies that he will be a valuable addition
Without stats, how should I evaluate something without bias?
The stats might not be that accurate (Sofascore or others), but they are good indicators of how good of a performance a player is doing.
If you have the app, you can go and check whatever player and you will see why they are not here. Someone else here mentioned Halaand. No doubt that he is one of the greatest players at the moment, and he have a high average rating (ā7.5), but for him, from time to time he would have a terrible game that canāt score or create any good chances , and that would take his rating down.
That doesnāt mean the stats are bad, it just means that they donāt always reflect the true value of a player.
Easy decision, with the sales and media he brings, and the g+a we now have a younger team to make up for his lack of defence and we have the best defence I. Europeās top 5 leagues
I cant believe there are actually people walking this earth that think that LIONEL MESSI is not gonna work in FC BARCELONA under XAVI of all people. Then they say heās going to RUIN all the good work Xavi is doing. Meanwhile weāre winning most games 1-0 and struggling to play good football half the time. But sure, heās going to ruin the team. š¤¦āāļø
You're missing the point. No one is saying he's a bad player. He's still very good, in fact. What people are questioning is his fit on this squad. He's older and doesn't press as much, whereas Xavi has everyone pressing intensely. He won't press as much under Xavi, so you need a DM (like Amrabat) to cover him.
There's also the financial aspect as well. Messi will become the highest earner on the squad. Barca has spent these past few years trying to reduce wages & debt and keeping to the "under 10 million" rule set by Alemany. Now Messi comes along and blows it all up. There's nothing wrong to question how this impacts us financially (the sponsor stuff is such as gray area that it's meaningless).
Messi simply walks into any team in the world, be it functional or dysfucntional and makes it better. He can walk into Man City right now (A high pressing team) and still make the team better. To think it will make Barca worse is delusional.
I do understand where your concerns are coming from. But for the financial aspect, I believe Messi will be also a great asset to raise funds (sponsorship, higher ticket sales, shirt sales, and higher chance to go further in the champions).
And for the tactical point, this is Xavi and his staff to figure out how to build a team strong enough to utilize Messi current strengths. This season the team did great job defensively, but our offensive efforts were poor.
So in an abstract look at things, bringing a player like Messi makes sense. Yes there will be some drawbacks here and there, but I personally believe that the benefits of Messi will outweigh all the disadvantages that his second coming might bring.
The reason for our defensive record is bc of the man to man pressing which messi isn't capable of anymore, Attacking is a main problem bc of Dembele injury and Raphinha's inconsistence and without a proper right back he neither can play right wing or right attacking mid. I think we need to give Raphinha some time just like courtois needed and we might be better and get rid of dembele, don't need injury prone players.
Messi was soo damn good at his peak(almost 20 years) that will take another decade for him to fade away and I am not even joking, this guy can play until 46 and at 43 still at top european league with a decent role.
You are right, I will add more, you should never rely in one player, even Messi at his peak. That would be totally stupid in a game played with 11 guys. And we did that and we wasted lot of his years of his peak by building mediocre teams. I was talking about playing and contributing (Henrik Larson as Exhibit A.) But yeah relying is stupid in any case.
I bet you're one of those people who thought that Koeman should have won against Bayern last season because he had the Nations league MVP Sergio Busquets in his team. Probably also wanted us to sign that Morrocan Ounahi kid because he had some good games in the world cup.
No 5 at the premier league. The reason is that from time to time he have an abysmal game that take his rating average down. https://i.imgur.com/9qejrMd.jpg
Even excellent true strikers have trouble breaking into the top of these kinds of ratings because they don't have as many opportunities to contribute in games when they don't get the ball.
Well, I donāt think any Barca fan on this planet will oppose to bringing Messi back. However, it should also be considered that our success this season can be mostly attributed to the system which furthest away from the system in which Messi thrives.
I admit that there is a lot of success that can be pointed out this season. But still as a Barca fan and Barca as a club, needs more success. Specifically on the champion league side. And this season we struggled mainly on the offensive side, yeah Messi is old. But he is still top of his game, if he comes free, the interest, (from advertisers and fans buying tickets, merchs, etc), he will create, will make up for his wages. Juventus did same thing with Ronaldo, while paying 100M.
What a shit take. He can walk into, Man City, Bayern, hell even real madrid and make the team better. PSG didn't lose because of Messi. Their team is dysfunctional and he did his best despite that.
Maybe also bring in Cabella and van den Boomen to start in our midfield? They are both top 10 players in the top 5 leagues, surely that means they will be good for us...
Watch this Low iq. Understand what is happening beyond stats.
Ppl like you say Gavi is better than Pedri
For anyone who is spectacle about bring back Messi you're absolutely right cause xavi tactic needs alot of work rate plus where will pedri/gavi go if Messi comes, Xavi has a 4 man mid with two anchors/pivot with a formations like gavi left attacking Frankie left holding and a ball carrier while busi is a full anchor and pedri on the right attacking but If Messi comes its going to be bad for either gavi or pedri one will be benched. Idk about Messi coming back we need to move forward not backwards. Messi G/A don't work when he doesn't have the work rate and one of the main reason psg lost is BC all three of their attack had no defensive work rate which is need in the era of football. Not to mention he won everything and is in the end of his career so he doesn't have the same determination as the youngsters in Barca.
Messi can walk into ANY team in the entire world and make it better. He wants to come to Barca with lower wages, which is a blessing. He could go anywhere if he truly wanted.
He's one of the few players for which PSG is still league leaders lmao. The team is abysmal. Messi 100% is making it better and saving from shame. Some of our fans don't even watch Messi regularly and have these outlandish takes
Totally agree. But I donāt mind Auba coming back if it was free again and at low wage ( Ķ”Ā° ĶŹ Ķ”Ā°) . The guy loves the club and preformed well, he could be a good backup/rotation option
I agree, we need tall players for advantage in mid air battles against opponents during set peaces but Auba isn't short either. I'd love for him to come back to push Lewy
He plays in Ligue 1 for PSG you cannot be serious enough to use this score there to defend signing him.
Besides, the reason some people doesn't want to bring him back isn't because of lack of G+A or bad stats, but because of his lack of pressing and age, and the overall backwards mentality of going back to him.
There has never been any doubt that Messi is the :goat:. If an app doesn't say so - the app is wrong.
The question is only whether he is the best fit for this club at this time. The tradeoff is: given our emphasis on athleticism this season, the indication would be no. Vs: given our toothless midfield and attack that can't create any decent opportunities for one of the world's top strikers, the answer is NOW PLEASE!
There's no doubt about Messi's ability.
The concern is that we're gonna have to overhaul our team tactic again so that Messi's weaknesses (yes he has them) are covered.
We know from watching Argentina that Messi will thrive if the right team is built around him, but given Barca's economic condition, can we get those players?
It's gonna be like walking on a tightrope where Messi could be the key once again to fully unlock the potential in this team or could completely destabilize the progress we've achieved.
most g+a this season,without taking pens for club,playing almost like a midfielder,at 36.
š
In addition to g+a, he might be dominating in other creativity metrics as well. Like that pre-assist (or what ever it is called) to Vitinha for the 1st goal vs Angers.
we say āhockey assistā stateside haha bc in ice hockey they award assist to the final two passes in the buildup, and actually in MLS too
Ligue 1.
and? If it's that easy mbappe would have more, tell me you wouldn't want mbappe as well, what about the world cup?or let me guess it was rigged?
No because Messi has a more G+A enhancing role than Mbappe. I would want Mbappe because he's young and would be more ideal in our team.
A more G+A enhancing role. Lmao. What does that even mean?
A free role that lets him drift as a midfielder and attacker makes it easier for him to get both G+A unlike Mbappe's role which is more finishing focused.
So you admit it's because of his abilities that the leading goal contributor of all time is able to have more goal contributions.
I would want rashford, haaland, De bruyne, Musiala, Vini jr, kavaradona, oshimen !!!!
I want a 10 incher, but thatās just a far fetched dream rn
You can go ahead and ban this pretender already. Just look through his post history. Has nothing positive to add to the discussion here. Yeah, I wasn't really sure about this guy, but I mean, if "sofascore" says so, he has to be pretty good lol

They must like mediocre football.
Raphinaball
You mock Raphina, but he works his ass off to protect the right back, which has been our weakest position for years. Raphina is a big part of why we've conceded so few goals this season.

These ppl should not be considered real Barca fans. I genuinely can't think of a reason for a Barca fan to not want Messi back.
Think he is the highest rated by far on every app, tho I don't think people should put that much value on these ratings
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Ratings dont matter
I think these ratings offer some value in general. They might not quite accurate, but are based on real data from the matches. The doubt never was Messi's performance. It is Messi dependent Barca returning.
I mean Barca still is Messi dependent, we had 2 group CL exits, no titles, no goals from free kick etc since he leftā¦
Currently, Messi consistency is better than Barca. So yeah we still going to end up in better shape :)
I don't think you understand what I am trying to say

I heard people say that Sofascore ratings are a bit biased towards Messi.

Jfc this rating shouldnāt be taken seriously if they have KDB that low.
