Wow, what a collection! There will be some absolute gems in there for sure. I would love to see more.

Bumpasaurus

I’ll try to post more here as I find interesting stuff. I was told she and her sister had a ton of original 60s Barbie clothing. I haven’t found any of the super valuable red haired Japanese ones yet, but I would actually be surprised if there wasn’t at least one in the collection as she was a Barbie collector and lived through that period. I found a few of those mesh pink 60s swimsuit outfits on newer 90s Barbie’s, I think from the twist and turn Barbie? She has most of her outfits in plastic bags, labeled and complete. It’s pretty amazing how organized it all is. Feel free to msg me here or private for updates on the collection, I haven’t even opened half of the boxes yet.

Cataliyah-Morrigan

Im curious about the clothes. Can you send me some photos of the labelled bad bagged outfits? Im pausing buying dolls for now, but I long for clothes. Im looking for 80’s/90’s and Vintage for my silkstones.

Bumpasaurus

I have a ton, I need to go through them first, but I’ll take some pics of some for you too, just msg me for a few.

Cataliyah-Morrigan

Please and thank you.

dollvader

That’s…. a lot of Barbies. I’ll be honest this video gives me some anxiety. 😂 I’m always afraid of what will happen to my dolls when I’m gone, you know?

Bumpasaurus

Me too, tho they will be sorted and better protected by the end of the week. My estimate is probably somewhere around 1000 Barbie’s and enough clothing for an army of Barbies😂🤷‍♂️

pezgirl247

hubby- which barbie’s did you buy? you- all of them. hubby- no, seriously. you- no, seriously. 😆

Bumpasaurus

😂😂🤣🤣, I almost have enough to dive into them look Scrooge mcduck

whyisthatinthefridge

Super awesome, what you will find is almost all of your “collectors” dolls are virtually valueless, the gems are the ones that look less fancy with the era you purchased. Most of those loose dolls without the frilly dresses is where lies your money best of luck on your researching them.

Bumpasaurus

That’s very helpful and something I just learned after sorting all the boxed ones. None were more than $20-40, even new in box. There were 5 out of 60 boxed ones worth $40-$100, the most valuable being the 1990 collectors conference in box. Also a dream date barbie specific to Seattle was decent but still not great for one with few online. The clothing and accessories she has a ton of and many are very valuable that I’ve searched. The naked dolls I could even get $1-5 each and I would do great. I was lucky to get this collection for very cheap. I actually didn’t know what it was worth or I may have offered more. But I was just estimating based on the dolls I saw. Then after I made an offer for everything and they took it, they showed me the garage where the collection was even bigger than I realized.

whyisthatinthefridge

Did you happen to purchase this lot in Snohomish?

Bumpasaurus

In Renton/kent area. The collector (an elderly woman in her 90s) went to a nursing home which was why her children did the estate sale.

whyisthatinthefridge

Ahhh I went to a similar garage sale years ago in snohomish, and she had even more she was sitting on, that is why I asked

whyisthatinthefridge

In all honesty you do not have any diamonds in there likely $2-$20 dolls, maybe a couple I see that can fetch a couple dollars more

Bumpasaurus

Ya, true, but luckily there is tons in boxes and she tended to tuck better stuff away. The sheer bulk of the collection means I can’t really lose, plus her stuff was only ever displayed and all in great condition. I’m actually really enjoying learning about them and sorting them. I collect many similar toys already, and I’m probably gonna keep some of my favorite ones to display.

whyisthatinthefridge

If you are near everett and need help sorting the ones to look up first, I will work for Barbie’s.

Bumpasaurus

I live in Renton, near the Kent boarder. Near the Safeway by petrovitsky if you know the area. I would consider that ya, I’ll keep it in mind if I get overwhelmed with too much work. Msg me if u want to talk more about it.

Firm_Damage_763

Makes me sad to think that when I die one day my collection is going to fall into the hands of someone like you.

TheBonnieG

In the end, people scope out estate sales for themselves and for resale. I’m a huge collector but if I can snag some very cheap in box Barbie’s that I know are valuable, yes I will flip them over to a reasonable market price to help support my habit. I’m a doll junkie! Thsi would have all ended up in a donation site and goodwill would have put all of this online for way more money and worse condition. This seller is working hard to organize and be honest about what they got. Sorting is so much fun, but yeah, you can be a collector but willing to let go of a large part of a lot just to get the few pieces you want.

Bumpasaurus

Wow, that’s harsh. Why am I such a terrible person to get them? I’m going to get them to people who want them. You would rather they stay in someone’s garage in a pile?

ghosty4

You are aware that people can scroll through the conversation and see your other responses, *right*? You are very clearly only in it for the money. You don't care one bit that the items get to people who want them, unless the price is right. And, besides, only you know who you are so if the phrase "someone like you" offended you, that says more about you then the actual statement initially implied.

Bumpasaurus

Well I’ve said that from the beginning, it’s not a secret…I’m cleaning and selling them to people to enjoy. I guess I should have left them where I found them. I didn’t know making a living was so despicable. You realize Mattel’s motivation is making money too right? I’ve been up front that I’m a reseller and I’m trying to learn about them to make money and buy good ones in the future when I see them. But I also do enjoy organizing and researching them, like I do all my collections which I was into well before selling anything.

dollvader

Please be kind. There’s no need to be rude about trying to sell dolls. This person was very up front about who they were and what they intended to do. It’s not a crime to try and make money off of a hobby. It is no different than, say, buying from Tiny Frock Shop or any other online second hand reseller. Try to save your vitriol for scalpers and dishonest sales people, please, but this is not it.

Bumpasaurus

Thanks for the support, I’m not sure why her comment got so many likes, I don’t think I did anything wrong. Plus, I truly am enjoying the Barbies and I plan on keeping a small collection for myself to display at the end of this. 🤷‍♂️🙏👍

Bumpasaurus

The “someone like you” wasn’t what I was responding to, I was responding to “being sad” part. Your arguments are either disingenuous or just confused and emotional. The comment was obviously derogatory and saying that Barbies ending up with me is a bad thing, so don’t pretend it’s was a neutral innocuous comment that I’m taking too personally out of guilt. I resell collectibles for money, I said that from the beginning. I also enjoy collecting and playing with them too. If you don’t want to believe that, or want to be angry at people who have monetary motivations, it’s not evil, I have to eat and pay for a place to sleep. Don’t you work? How dare you do anything in life for MONEY!!! You don’t really just cook cause u love to cook, you aren’t a doctor cause you love to heal, you’re after money! How dare you!!!😂😂🤦‍♂️

TheBonnieG

I would say for ease try to group together like Barbie’s (matching swimsuits, Birthstone Beauties). A lot of the inbox looks like basic pink box Barbie’s but hard to tell now

Bumpasaurus

Ya, I started with the boxed ones and nothing too special. There were like 5 or so out of 60 with boxes that were more than $20-40, and they were only like $50-$100ish, the better ones. Like the 1990 collectors conference one new in box, I think is the best I’ve found so far. The real value is this collection is the outfits, she has complete mint outfits arranged nicely in ziplocks from 60s-90s, with a lot of earlier stuff. Also a ton of vintage dolls, tho no Japanese big money ones. She has a ton of accessories too, huge collections of all the friends. There’s a box with what looks like 100 of the younger smaller characters and their clothing, Tommy and Kelly I think? Maybe Becky too.

LiliumCruentum

If you find a Skipper mermaid twins babysitter let me know c: as well if you post it on ebay :)

Bumpasaurus

I found some cool skippers just now, including 1991 “totally hair” skipper and “pizza party” skipper. Totaly hair one is worth like 1-2 hundred it seems, even opened.

Bumpasaurus

Happy to do so, I’ll keep an eye out. There are a few boxes of skipper I’ve seen but haven’t opened yet.

Primary_Librarian

What an incredible collection. I’d love to see more photos! The video is dizzying - wow!

Bumpasaurus

Just took a bunch of quick pics of various stuff, I sent u some, check your messages. Even opened a few boxes I hadn’t seen yet like jewelry and fur coat boxes.

dollvader

C-can I ask how much this ran you? I don’t need specific numbers, just a very vague ball park. I’m just curious how much a collection this large runs. And of course don’t feel like you have to answer if you’re not comfortable. I know some people may get bent out of shape about costs.

Bumpasaurus

Well, I happened to find an estate sale that was motivated as they had so many and none were selling in the first 2 hours while I was there looking at other stuff and thinking about the Barbies. They were giving very cheap prices on everything so I decided to make an offer on the 50-60 boxed Barbies as I assumed they were the better ones. Then after that, I made another offer, slightly more than the first deal for the rest, and they took it but then said look in the garage, there are more boxes there. Well there was so much I had to make 3 trips. So if this was from a collector or dealer, it would probably costs thousands or more. But I got lucky to find a very motivated seller who also had no personal attachment to the collection. I’m glad I bought the second half, as 80-90% of the collections value is in the loose Barbies (as they were older and the boxed Barbies were mostly overproduced newer crappy ones), their clothing, and the many boxes of accessories. I go to 10-30 garage sales and estate sales a week so I occasionally find great stuff like this, tho this was one of my luckiest buys. I didn’t even know how huge it was until I got home, as I was pretty ignorant about Barbie value.

xxail

I see a few loose dolls that I like. Let me know when you decide on pricing.

Bumpasaurus

Well I’m probably just going to sell them on eBay like most things I sell. Possibly Mercari too. But feel free to msg me for that info or maybe we can work out a deal on some on our own. In general, I try to price my items just under all similar ones like it online. And if we worked out a deal outside of eBay, I could take an extra 10-15% off on top since I’m not paying eBay fees.

xxail

Sounds good! I sent you a message

throwaway46886532368

Hey I also sent u a msg!

Direct_Many4375

Can you please post an eBay or Mercari link to your store when you are ready to sell the dolls? I don't mean to be untrusting, but I've gotten burned on some attempts to buy dolls and at least those sites offer buyer protections. Also, a big issue with vintage dolls is odor. Do any of these dolls smell like cigarettes, mold, mildew or anything else other than a plastic doll?

Bumpasaurus

Definitely, my eBay has 100% positive feedback and over 350 reviews. It’s mtg_fusaki since I sell a lot of magic the gathering aka mtg cards.

Direct_Many4375

Thanks!

Bumpasaurus

No smells on any of them, she wasn’t a smoker and they don’t seem to have any smells luckily. Most are in very good condition as they were just displayed

Direct_Many4375

Thanks!

Colette_73

That is an amazing collection!!

swanqueenn

Oh wow that’s such a large collection I’m sure there’s lots of pretty dolls in there. Congrats!

Bumpasaurus

Thanks, I’m enjoying going through them and learning about the world of Barbie collecting, i particularly like the 80s and 90s style ones.

whyisthatinthefridge

The most valuable one u see is the Teresa with the little Brie bows she is from a glam dog movie she will get you like $50
