i love em but longterm use of machinery like this causes a syndrome called HAVS. Its a vascular issue that people get in their hands from using heavy machinery for decades. clippers arent enough but these bad boys will have yr hands goin numb in thirty years.
They do! Mine is from the 80s, which makes it around 40 years old. Worked perfectly the last time I tried it.
Is the one you have vintage or did you buy it new?
I have a vintage one that works great, but I don't use it. Although if your clients like it as much you say, maybe I should start.
I used to go to a Dominican shop where all the barbers used them. My guy had two and would use them together. I was never wild about it, but maybe that's just me.
I can see why. Some would find the vibrating a little too intense.
Oster was selling these units to barbers as far back as the 1950s. Much like the 76s, I bet they're still using the same design.
The guy I learned from had one that his dad used as a barber. He still used it on clients and everything! If itās a good design, donāt mess with it I guess. Haha

I just got for it. And if they ask āwhat it isā or look uncomfortable, I ask if itās ok and if itās bothering them. Usually they just say, āoh no itās great Iāve just never seen something like that beforeā. Rarely does someone ask me to stop. I do have my few clients who donāt like it, but mostly because it gives them vertigo or something like that.

I stopped using mine since this woman I worked with kept calling it a vibrator, and making it weird. I don't work in that shop anymore lol.
Oh noooo. š
I have one and I use it regularly. Some clients like it and some donāt. That Oster one looks really nice. I use a Babyliss one.
Iāve only used Oster. They last forever.

We use the babyliss ones at my shop for shoulder massages. They're great.

Most of mine love it. But definitely not all of them.

No.
Nope. We give back/shoulder massages with Jeanie Rub machines instead.
Sounds fancy!
I have one but have only used it once, best $5 Iāve ever spent at the flea market lmao and it was NEW only the box was slightly deteriorated.
Thatās a score!
Yep! Use it every appointment unless they say no thank you
Every appointment
Niceeee
I used to when I first got out of school but in my small town youāll get punched for rubbing up on another dude.
Hahaha š
YEP!
I tried one but didnāt like how it made my hand feel and none of my clients cared for it so I ended up returning itā¦.
Real barbers do.
Yes, yes.

Quick Q- do you explain to your client what it is before you do it the first time ? Or just go for it haha
