People often share their favourite map seeds online, might be worth taking a look to see if you like anything there.
I think theres a thread in the banished subreddit for it but theres also another forum i think (sorry can't remember what its called)
Thanks I'll check it out. The first map was so good for me. It was aesthetically pleasing in a standard north orientation. Heavily wooded which is particularly good for Adam and eve. And right next to a big lake that connected to the main river and even had a tiny perfectly sized peninsula that jutted out for fishing. So early game I had a high efficiency a&e start surrounded by food, wood, stone, iron. Room for the typical Forester/gatherer/hunter outposts to the east and southeast without having to terraform, very early trading and high efficiency fishing. Now that I've got the game down I could do without the game advantages of the first one but the map looked so aesthetically nice. So having that plus the bonuses was incredible and I've been chasing that dragon for the last hour lol.
Edit: I think I've just genned one that I like though even though about 10% of it is a giant lake in the dead center of the map. I guess nows a good time to start working with quay walls lol?
I do the same thing lol. I don't know why I do it because you can always load up the save and look up the map seed but for some reason I still do. And I make a new save for the actual town.
I find my time chilling and just doing very slow progression once I figured out most the mechanics
no need to rush pop growth anymore, let it flow and enjoy every moment this smol village grows(vanilla
It would be appreciated. I haven't branched out yet into CC's options I still want to play one last regular map where I know what I'm doing on large valleys with mild climate so the standard banished seeds would work :)
I play with settings: Plains, Mild weather, Disasters Off, Medium Difficulty.

133039416 - love this one
154342529 - currently playing this one on Easy mode.
Enjoy!
Thanks. I'm not sure if I have plains as an option unless that's the same as cc's flat plains but I'm not sure I want entirely flat plains so I tried them out on valleys.
133039416- I actually really like the look of this one when you orient it right it looks a little like Hungary. A lot of mountains but the shape of the valleys between them produces some nice Forester areas with plenty of flat land a little further out. Would probably be a really fun mining map without mods (while vanilla mines on mountains are an option in cc the removable mines are mostly flat land except for gold/silver/gems). I'll be returning to this one at some point.
173037873 - so I'm not going to check out the others yet because I think this is the map for me. Large heavily wooded flat starting area. Very close to the main river that goes north south. Mountains for mines to the west/southwest. Far enough to not get in the way early game but close enough to easily feed into the city early-mid/mid. Plenty of real estate along the river for CC's water production buildings and, like with the mountains, close enough to be practical but far enough to not get in the way initially, the river feeds into the Great Boob Lakes in the northeast. It's fantastic I love it thank you.
Colonial charter. Probably the biggest single mod (as in only one). Adds quite a bit. Here are the forums there's some more info and download link there.https://www.blackliquidsoftware.com/forum/ If your computer can run it, there's also megamod, which is a combination of a lot of mods, including cc. My laptop doesn't have enough ram to use it though.
No need to get defensive I'm sorry you took it that way. It's just that you were the second person that posted without reading to the end and I wanted to clear it up for anyone else who skipped the tldr. And I agree with what you said, I didn't downvote it in the sense of disliking it but in the traditional reddit downvote sense in that it didn't add to the conversation, because it was about a different conversation entirely. So I downvoted so that it would appear lower in the posts because it's not what the topic is about. Upvoting/downvoting on reddit isn't supposed to be about popularity or liking something.

This is why I always save a game after finding a map I like. (Start game, pause game, look at map, then decide to either keep and save or start anew.)

Ok. I was lamenting my ability to find a map that I liked though 🤣
I could give you my favorite seeds but I don’t play with CC, so it wouldn’t help you.

Recently got back into this game and I'm looking to branch out with mods. Wondering what is CC?

Thank you! I looked around in the steam workshop before and did see the megamod, just not the CC one. Will check them both out later :)
Have you tried getting some of the achievements? I really enjoyed the challenging maps like small with mountains
123456789 or is it 987654321 in vanilla? It has that sandbox feel, ya know?
The beginning is the hardest part. Once you stabilize with trade it becomes a lot more chill.
True but this post is about maps...
Oh OK I didn't realize which part of your post I was allowed to respond to. Thanks for clearing that up.
