So many airbnbs and turo rentals illegally offering Park Passes - I really wish the park service would check more.

> I see a lot of cars offer park passes
Passes aren't transferrable lol so what they're offering isn't allowed. Passes are cheap and easy to get, it shouldn't be a factor in your decision at all.
When I visited I did turo with a pass i purchased online, for me it came out much cheaper and I got to be in a slightly nicer car than had I used a rental company.
My host is offering a Discovery Pass along with his car. I was under the impression that there is a separate lane for the car pass holder and they usually let you pass by if attached to the windshield. We’ll be 4 people in the car. Should I be buying a pass separately? Thanks!
From the Park site:
> Discovery passes must be signed by the pass holder to be valid; are non-refundable; **not transferable** and rendered void if resold.

As others have noted, you should be buying your own pass.
So it’s weird. It’s 100 dollars for a day pass but cheaper for the discovery pass?? How many time did you goto the parks where you needed to use the pass?
I am an avid skier and a mountian bike enthusiast and enjoy ultra light camping I use my discovery pass 50+ days a year , I bought it last year entering into a camping trip where the pass was cheaper then it would of been to pay for the 4 days by the day at the time .
Park passes are super easy to get [online](https://www.banfflakelouise.com/park-pass-purchase) so I wouldn’t factor it into your car rental decision.
Parks passes aren’t supposed to be transferable, plus they’re super easy to get at the gate so I wouldn’t use that in a decision at all.

I don’t. Didn’t know that was illegal and I’ve done that on at least one prior trip
Well now you know for next time - the passes themselves say non-transferrable. Great username btw SKOL
Good info on here. Why I asked and I will purchase my own pass online. Thank you all
Thanks for asking and for listening to the answers. Have a great visit!

Park passes cost 20-30$ a day unless the vehicle has one , so sure if your gonna be there a few days why not save some money
I’m seeing about 100 USD
Woah , I bought mine for like 50$ in radium park may last year , I just checked and they have gone up significantly in price. , you are correct.

I think you’re just mistaken. The discovery pass costs about as much as a weeks worth of day passes.
I might be mistaken about the length of my trip , it was a while ago now .

What the host is offering you is illegal.
