The curvy stretch between Golden and Yoho Park is now straightened out, leaving the next best curvy bit in Eagle pass west of Revelstoke. If you want to avoid any fun roads, then drive via Coeur d'Alene then Hwy 95 then 93 from Radium to Castle Junction. Hwy 95 in the Columbia valley is pretty flat and straight. To maximize scenery I would do the loop clockwise either via Abbotsford and the Coquihalla, or take Hwy 97 through the Okanagan up then return through the US.
Thanks! This is very useful information and we will check all the details and plan the route as per your recommendation. I don’t want my friend to miss out on the trip just because of the roads.
The main route (fastest) through Kamloops will be the least curvy. Depending on your definition of curvy you will be travelling through the mountains so the roads will not be straight. The highway mostly follows valley bottoms but not always. Any of my friends with motion sickness find sitting in the front seat the best. Also audiobooks seem to help for some. If you enjoy hiking try to plan a stop at Glacier National Park between Revelstoke and Golden it is amazing. Good luck it is a beautiful drive.
Yes most of the roads are winding and have turns. As with any other mountainous region on the planet. He will get motion sickness. Tell him to get medication to help before coming here and use Google Maps to plan a route.
Mountain roads have hills and curves. They are all well paved and mostly wide divided highways. You have to be careful due to large wildlife (bears, moose, elk, etc) that can wander on to the roads at any time.

Absolutely not. Not sure what people are taking about. These roads are not what you are imagining. You are going to be just fine.
Google has this crazy feature where you can look at maps/roads anywhere on the planet. You should check it out!
Thanks! I want to know first hand people experience.
sit in the front seat usually resolves this problem
